Whenever the offense makes a big play, it feels more like luck now than skill.
-
I'm as casual Knicks fan as they come. I'm a big 'Cuse fan, which is what's brought me back to the NBA with Melo going there. With that, can someone please explain this possible trade or move I keep hearing about.
I know the Knicks want Chris Paul. I get it, amazing PG. But now, there is this rumor of them getting Chandler. However, with the money he'd get paid, they are saying they'd have to cut Billups (who's apparently pissed about this) and then trade Amare for Chris Paul.
In the end, it would go from Billips, Melo, Amare to Melo, Paul, Chandler. Does that seem logical? Isn't Amare like a top 3 at his position, which is an overall tough position to find skill at for his size? Is the drop off from Amare to Chandler worth the gain from Billups to Paul?
I really don't know and would love someone's take on it who really follow's the game

Two things:
1 - I don't really think Manning to the Bills is realistic, because I don't think he would want to play here.
2 - From everything I understand, the Colts would not be able to afford both of them, and even if they could with the new CBA, Manning wants to play at least another 3-4 years. Luck would be a FA by the time Manning decided to retire. Again, assuming he comes back healthy.
-
Luck hasn't proven anything yet. Putting all their eggs in his basket would be as dumb as them putting all their eggs in Manning's basket.
Fair. So let me ask you this. If you had to pick two baskets, out of all of them in the NFL, wouldn't those be the top two on your list?
-
In fact, I would make an offer to the Colts now. Here's our next draft, give us Luck or Manning
-
Fair. So for clarity. If he is proven healthy and the Colts are doing it just to start the Luck era...
-
Would you want the Bills to enter that bidding?
Me, I'd throw the house at him. The Colts are pathetic without him. As far as I'm concerned, he should win the MVP this season. Even if he has 4 years left in him, healthy, that's 4 years of playoff contention. As a Bills fan, there really isn't a whole lot that I wouldn't trade for that.
And yeah, I would give away two 1st rounders for him, because in all fairness, we've proven an inability to know what to do with them.
-
Oh, I think the players want it.
I was saying that, from my understand, that's why the ncaa is against it.
If you know of another reason that's been said, please correct me. I'm not pretending to be an expert

Can you imagine if bama wins off a fluke play or bad call or two by the refs in another tight game?
And Oklahoma State absolutely blows Stanford out of the water....that'll be fun
-
I have to say, this is as fun and good a debate that I've seen in a while. Thank all of your for your mature responses. I was nervous to see a bunch of "Because Bama would beat Ditka" responses. With that, some more things from what you've all said.
I do believe 100% that the best two teams are playing in the BCS. If I didn't make that clear in my OP, then I apologize. Alabama is, without question to me, the #2 team. Also, I have no love or hate for any conference. I have nothing against the SEC. I was a Big East guy cause I like 'Cuse, but that conference is pretty much dead. And I admit that I'm not a fan of being in the ACC, but fortunately, that isn't relevant at all this year...thanks VaTech.
In any case, I believe that if you are able to forget what happened in the regular season, then we are looking at the best overall BCS matchups in years. I'm not hating on that.
What I can't let go, is what does the BCS prove this year? Yes, it's the best two teams, but regardless of the winner, you will have two big arguments afterwards. If LSU wins, then it's "yeah, we knew that. They already proved that point. What a waste." If Bama wins, it's "well, they split the series and this isn't meant to be like a playoff. There should be a 3rd game."
Yes, I agree with the guy who said that it seems weird to not want the best two teams to play again. It is weird. I just think it's almost unfair to LSU to make them prove they can beat a great team again, when they've already done it.
I guess what sums it up for me, is that even if Bama wins, are they really the number #1 team? In theory, they both will have lost to the top teams in the county and split the series? What are you gonna say, Bama won more recently? We are talking 2 months apart? I think this is my ultimate issue with this. Bama is number #2 yes, but they locked themselves there when they were unable to beat #1.

I think this thread is done. It's not an I told you so or anything. Hell, I'm depressed at how quickly it came true. We are one loss away from 8-8 and I don't see us really winning another game.
This just sucks. There isn't any other way to put it. And I still can't figure out if this is better or worse than a 2008. At least that team didn't really give me hope. This one did, then threw it all away. I think we just had a bunch of guys overachieving for those first 6 and life just played itself out.
What sucks more about this year though is, I don't know what to do to make it better. Our D has the guys that Chan wanted. Our O, well the line is still doing fine and Freddie is out, Spiller was Chan's guy in the first place.
The more I see what Chan and Nix's "guys" are doing, the more I don't think this is going to get any better.

Let me start by saying, I don't watch a ton of college football. I watch the big games, I watch rookies who the Bills could draft, and I watch the bowl games. I think I have a good understanding of how the BCS ranks teams and I read a lot about the different arguments against a playoff system.
With that being said, here's what I understand to be the logic of the BCS and the reason we don't have playoffs
~They are STUDENT athletes and they don't want a longer season
~The regular season games are meant to be taken seriously and as a deciding factor
~Teams with equal records are usually ranked by the rank of the team they loss to and their strength of schedule.
With that being said, how the hell can LSU play in a rematch against Alabama? This is infuriating to me. Alabama had their chance and they lost. It's that simple. LSU won the game, has a better record, then now have nothing left to prove against Alabama. Now, don't get me wrong, I think Alabama is the next best team after LSU, but again, we've already determined who is better between them. And here's the thing, if LSU wins, what did they prove? That they can beat the same team twice? And if LSU loses, then they have a split on the series. How does declare one team better than the other? Yes, in the NFL, teams will have rematches in the playoffs, but that is because the NFL HAS A PLAYOFF. The NCAA doesn't want this remember. They want the regular season to be more important.
As far as I'm concerned, the one loss team who lost to the highest ranked team, not LSU should be given their shot at LSU. Alabama already got it. So now, it's Oklahoma State's turn. If not them, then Stanford should be next on the list.
I'm not blindly hating here, I don't think. I'm not trying to last out at anyone. I would really like an argument here from someone who thinks the re-match is the right thing to do.
On a side note, I think they should make all conferences have a conference championship game. Then, add 1 more BCS game, let the Conference Champ's play in the BCS games, and then the top 2 ranked teams left play in the BCS national championship game. It only adds one game and dumps all of this crap where teams from that don't win their conference get to play in more important games. Cause Stanford playing in a higher game than Oregon, when Oregon won their conference is crap. Clemson shouldn't have needed to play VaTech again, because again, what do they need to prove. And this BCS game between two teams in the same conference is pure crap.
Thoughts?

I find myself looking forward more to the sad fans who talk about all the positives after this game.
There is no optimism with this team. You can't blame spiller and the pass block was good. Our offensive leaders just can't get it done anymore
-
yeah, meant 15

If the Bengals, 49ers, and Lions keep this up, they'll make the playoffs this year and all three teams look like they are build for the long haul. With that being said, are we now the biggest joke in the NFL?
This isn't a pessimism thread or a "we just lost" thread. Honestly, what franchise has been worse than us in the past 20 years now?
-
...because I'm a fan. And for my 1,000th post, I'm still here talking about the worse franchise in the last 20 years.
-
Seriously, no offense, but please stop with these threads. We are a joke. Every game, someone is going to look good. But it never lasts, it never inspires others, and it never leads to a winning season.

Kansas City Chiefs (won and should have)
OAKLAND RAIDERS (play it again 10 more times and we lose 9 of them)
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (Good luck getting that homefield advantage and 4ints again)
Cincinnati Bengals (Beat by a weaker team, exposed our D for who we are and gave the NFL the blueprint to beating our Offense)
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (Won, given to us. Offsides, really?)
New York Giants (Loss - Made Eli look amazing)
WASHINGTON REDSKINS (Win - Skins are worse)
NEW YORK JETS - (Loss - embarrassed and made Sanchez look like Brady)
Dallas Cowboys - (Loss - Because we always do, embarrassed again, made Romo look like Cowherds wet dream)
Miami Dolphins - (Loss - got crushed by a horrible team on a hot streak)
New York Jets - (Loss, Jets gave it to us. Drops, bad D. Still can't find a way to win)
TENNESSEE TITANS - (Loss, won't beat a 300+ yard QB)
San Diego Chargers - (Loss, Rivers crushes our D)
MIAMI DOLPHINS (Win, See Before)
DENVER BRONCOS (Win, Broncos are just as bad as the Dolphins, too little too late game)
New England Patriots (Loss, Pats will need this game)
Wow, and I mean wow. Even teams playing horrible get wins against us now. I never thought it'd get to 5-6 this quickly. At this rate, I would be begging for 7-9. But what's the point anymore. To start 5-2, then be eliminated from the playoffs before December, is actually worse to me than 2008 because that team at least didn't make you believe they were that great. And don't even think about talking to me about injuries. When 80% of the team on the field is drafted or brought in by this regime, they have no room to talk. Our run D with our 3rd overall pick, and two FA's they brought in, is who they wanted out there and it's not showing anything in return. This franchise is a joke and it's making it's fans look like a joke too.
And Stevie, you just summed up your entire season last year in one game. Great potential, then two drops at the end that could have won it. Keep banging that drum for #1 money.
What makes it even worse, we are not officially the worse franchise of the last 20 years now. Cincy and the Lions are still playing strong. Once this season ends, we will easily hold the record for longest playoff drought.
-
Not a good team
-
Can't say the jets didn't try to give this game to us.

Oh I'm sorry, I thought it was assumed we were all watching the Broncos game now
