  1. Just a gentle reminder that you, and you, and you (looking around the board) can all show agency. I would not for a moment diminish the power of Faith and Prayer, but as a friend of mine once said - "sometimes Prayer works best with tools in your hands and skill to use them". Learn CPR, and support the public availability of AEDs at schools, amateur sporting events, professional sporting venues, libraries, and yes, houses of Worship.
  2. OK, listened to the press conference. A few notes: -the Doctors referred a couple times to "a transport" and "a transport team", which is usually how medical professionals reference a flight with medical capabilities on board. I think it was referenced that one of the Bills team physicians and trainers had stayed in Cincinnati with Damar. My guess would be them, plus an emergency physician licensed to practice in Ohio, maybe an airway physician (just in case), a full "crash cart" of defibrillator, cardiac medications, intubation supplies, oxygen etc. I can't imagine anything else because it would be hella embarrassing if they save the guys life only to put him on a plane and have some rare altitude-induced complication take him down. Medical transport to airport, EMS-equipped transport flight to Buffalo, medical transport to Buffalo General. -Damar was extubated early Friday morning and walked his first "circuit" of the ICU that afternoon! -Criteria for release from ICU were all organ systems stable, no need for critical respiratory care or intensive nursing. He reached that milestone this am. -Defer to new care team in Buffalo for all plans regarding rehabilitation timeline, release from hospital, further testing and diagnosis -No damage to cervical spine, they emphasized "neurologically intact" and walking with normal gait (although still quite weak) -Deflected all questions about whether he would be able to RTP in the NFL: said it's premature to discuss RTP until diagnosis is complete -Deferred questions about his rehab plan and whether he could return to Highmark as a spectator during playoffs, to his new care team of physicians in Buffalo. I hope they put him in a great big room at Buffalo General to accommodate all the teammates who want to visit him, otherwise the Bills are gonna have to be playing rock-paper-scissors or drawing lots.
  3. I can see it now. Damar: "When can I leave here and go see my boys?" Doctors making Sunday rounds: "Patience, Damar, you're still pretty weak. Let us take care of you until you're a little stronger." [Later that day: Damar jumps up and down and screams like a normal Bills fan watching the game, setting off every alarm in the ICU] Doctors making Monday rounds: "OK, Damar, You Can Go Now" https://www.koat.com/article/damar-hamlin-update-doctors/42435123 link to video conference
  4. article https://www.msn.com/en-us/health/medical/live-uc-doctors-give-update-on-damar-hamlin-s-condition/ar-AA168nN0 Not that it means it's the same cause, but worth noting that this is pretty much the timeline the Lewiston man who suffered Commotio Cordis at a college baseball practice followed after he was resuscitated following cardiac arrest: 3 days unconscious on a ventilator, 6 days in hospital. (can't find the story right now but it was in TBN and I linked it somewhere upthread) Damar can walk, he can talk, he can set off all the monitors in the ICU jumping up and down when Nyheim Hines scores a TD, he can do anything!
  5. I could be wrong, but my guess would be either the team arranged a medical transport flight for him or the Pegulas sent the jet along with a team of doctors
  6. Not exactly, has been transferred to hospital in Buffalo, NY Still very very good news - no longer in critical condition, obviously I must not understand the hospital landscape in Buffalo - he's at Buffalo General and not ECMC? Why would that be? I think the only way they could have kept him from watching, would have been to sedate him again
  7. Except of course when he comes up huge for the Bills. Like with 171 yds and 2 TD or 6 catches for 93 yds and a TD or 4 catches for 88 yds and a TD or last year at KC 8 catches for 201 yds and 4 TDs --------------- Davis has averaged 55.7 ypg That's actually #34 in the league for ypg, which matters to evaluating a WR #2 in the league for Y/R right behind Jaylen Waddle and ahead of AJ Brown #20 in the league for TDs He's a good WR by a number of metrics, taken overall --------------- Here's the problem We want him to be a great WR We want him to be Higgens to Chase We want him to be Juju Smith-Schuster to Kelce We want him to be AJ Brown to DaVonte Smith We want him to be Thielen to Jefferson or even We want him to be Waddle to Hill and he isn't, or at least he hasn't been to date It's really about the drops and the balls that he could have caught, but didn't; the way he hasn't been able to show that "toe drag swag" this season ------------------ I don't know what's up. The WR seem to love Chad Davis as a coach But frankly, I have not been as impressed with our WR overall this year vs. last - the little things, the route running details, the toe taps, the focus I don't know if it's coaching, or if when Sanders retired and Beasley left, something shifted in the room
  8. Is the Miami media hooking up the excuse train or something? Sorry, but with our all-pro safety on season ending IR, his replacement who has been playing reasonably in the ICU, our all-pro DE on season ending IR, one of our 3T DTs who was having a good year, looking physically unable to use one arm yesterday, and two of our WR on IR such that we’re playing guys who were sitting at home before we signed them to PS out of retirement…..my heart does not bleed for the poor dolphins. My nose does, but I got a Kleenex for that.
  9. FWIW this chap broke down all Davis targets vs NE. Now, the thing we don’t know when “Josh threw behind him twice…..threw him too far to the sideline once” is, to what extent are those throws the result of Davis not reading the defense the same way as Josh, thus not running the route as Josh expects him to run it? Or, just not running the route as Josh expects? That is always the unanswered question whenever a WR and the ball don’t wind up in the same place at the same time. It’s a mistake, but whose?
  10. OK to you “bench Davis start Brown” guys Nothing anyone says will likely reach you. Sorry, but when a guy’s been out of football and sitting at home, it’s not because he’s a “sleeper” to take over as #2 80% of the snaps WR. To anyone else, Cover1 just started putting up a bunch of analysis on Twitter in response to Joe Marino and others
  11. CNN reporting that Hamlin expects to be released from hospital soon “per source” https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/09/sport/buffalo-bills-damar-hamlin-recovery-monday-spt/index.html
  12. I think you can bet whatever that McDaniel will be trying his very durnedest to keep that decision under wraps and force Buffalo to prepare for 3 QB I wish you’d change the title of your thread though. “Miami’s onto Buffalo” has a double-meaning that Miami might “have Buffalo’s number” or have “cracked the code” of the Bills. Hope not!
  13. TBH, I think Houston is "fueling the fire" of Brian Flores contention that when black HC do get hired, it's often tokenism with the HC as a placeholder.
  14. Well, you can compare and contrast to the personnel decisions made by Brian Daboll. Daboll said, not only are we gonna rest our starting QB, we're gonna rest our backup QB and a bunch of our other key players. And that will give our backups a chance to shine and show what they've got And while the game wasn't really as close as the 16-23 score would appear, you have to admit they did a very creditable job against the Eagles, who were not flying as far and as high as I think they believed they would when the actives list came out. As a result, the Giants are in much better shape heading into their matchup with the Vikings, than the Chargers are to take on a surging Jax. The Vikes only beat the Giants on a Christmas Eve 61 yd fieldgoal with 4 seconds left, and I'm sure the Giants are eager for a rematch.
  15. You're mistaken. These guys weren't home sitting on their sofa because they still have the physical capability to play 70-80% of the snaps in an NFL game for 4 games. In case it went unnoticed, Beasley didn't haul in an admittedly somewhat off ball from Josh that would have converted a key 3rd down on our 1st drive in the Bengals game and possibly scored - but Beasley of 2 years ago would absolutely have had the acceleration and athleticism to get there. They are both there to be a 5th or 6th WR option and as "break glass in case of emergency" In his post-game presser, Allen said that he threw to Brown because the safety went with McKenzie. Having two speedy guys on the field at once enables some things like that.
  16. I dunno. I'm a big believer in "dance with what brung ya". Scheming guys open typically involves precision and timing, stuff that's hard to practice during the dings and dents of the season. I hope you're right. If Davis ankle is still bothering him, it raises the question of whether he has the physical capabilities to play a season in the NFL because this would be the second season in a row that an early-season ankle injury which has not caused Davis to appear on injury report for literally months, has been raised on TBD as a hypothetical reason for Davis not performing as we would like to see. Allen was ignoring open guys for riskier chunk plays before he got hurt. Getting hurt did seem to increase his bad ball %
  17. Ah! Well, some good, some bad. He's definitely taken a few more of the short options. But he's still, at times, ignoring the short options to throw the ball into danger. Throwing to a double-covered McKenzie when he had underneath options (at least 2) vs. Chicago would be one example of this. And in last night's post-game presser he was basically chiding himself for getting away from throwing the ball into danger at Diggs. If I figure out how to watch all-22 without paying NFL+ $25, I'm pretty sure I'd see open throws underneath on a few of those heaves to Davis. So improvement, yes, but I don't think we're where we want to be yet.
  18. This, if you'll excuse me, rather echos the plaint made by cover1 and several others that Dorsey is doing less to scheme his guys open, but rather expecting the WR to win against coverage. Diggs can. McKenzie can if it's M2M and he's not held. Obviously Davis can at times. One reason the Bills moved on from Brown was that he suffers from the same problem McKenzie does - he can be neutralized by physical DB play and uncalled DH/DPI. In theory, Davis size and strength should allow him to win those battles, but like Knox, he doesn't always. The guy I'd actually like to see some more of is Morris.
  19. Unsure why I'm being tagged here? In case it wasn't noticed, Tee Higgins had a terrible, no-good, very bad day yesterday. 1 reception on 7 targets. I think it's probable that he is still being affected by the Hamlin injury, and that several players on the Bills team are also being affected. Davis 3 receptions on 10 targets indicate him as a candidate. He's been catching much more reliably this back half of the season...except for (wait for it) the Week 11 NWE game which was similarly bad - so how he's being covered, and what type of routes/targets he's getting may just have an influence. If he contributes nothing else, Nyheim Hines gave the Bills players a huge lift, and a gift, by showing them he would play still play absolutely fearless (and that good things would happen when he did)
  20. Phillips is a big upgrade to Bryant when healthy I’m not sure how IR rules work for the playoffs, but PS elevations re-set and become unlimited for each player However, the teams still only get 2 elevations
  21. That’s kind of been his story since he left Buffalo. The business of trying to chase people down and pulling a hammy or hurting his shoulder was silliness.
