Some thoughts on some of the ideas presented in this thread:

    1) Adams is an excellent player. I coveted him when he was at LSU and was disappointed he fell to the Jets in the draft, not wanting him in our division. He makes a lot of splash plays, often near the line of scrimmage, and he's a guy that OCs need to gameplan for. He's a ferocious hitter and a big trash talker, two things I won't miss if he left the Jets.

    2) All that being said, I do agree that his pass coverage is average at times and he can be overaggressive (just my opinion but I don't see him as a 1/11th guy who always plays his specific part on defense). I don't think the Adams vs Hyde comparisons or discussions are as laughably one-sided as some made it out to be. Adams is the unquestionably better athlete and stuffs the box score, but Hyde is arguably the more well-rounded, fundamentally sound player and comes with a lower price tag and all the leadership/intangibles you want on your team (filling a part of the leadership void left by Lorax and Kyle). Both players excel in the scheme-specific roles given to them and it would be interesting to see what would happen if the roles were reversed. Put another way, I would pick Adams every time for my Madden team, but if I was tasked with building a real team, Hyde seems like the better asset when looking at all aspects.

    3) As JetsFan20 suggested, Adams and Perriman for Chris Godwin is a super interesting proposal to me. I agree that TB would be loath to part with any of Brady's weapons, but to be fair, there's only one football to go around and the TB offense is stacked. Plus Tampa's secondary has been stuck in one of the longest stretches of futility of any NFL position group I can think of and Adams would be able to make a big impact there, reuniting with Bowles who knew how to use him best. If Tampa is serious about any Super Bowl aspirations, they need that defense to take the next step and be able to slow down the likes of New Orleans/Atlanta etc. Also, Perriman had his career best season in Tampa and now gets a better QB than he had in 2019. On the flip side, the Jets would get Godwin on his rookie deal and give Darnold a true weapon in the passing game in this pivotal year. Seems like a win-win to me.

    4) Who replaces Adams in the Jets defense if he is in fact traded? Is Ashtyn Davis ready to start from Day 1? I got the impression that his draft stock was based more on potential and athleticism than production/football IQ at this point and that he needs some time to develop. They also seem like very different players; Davis seems like your classic centerfielding FS type. @JetsFan20, are there any other secondary players on the current roster or unsigned in the FA market you'd target to replace him? In the short term, I think the Jets defense would take a decent step back as Adams' role and skillset would be tough to replicate and that scheme/pass rush would miss his unpredictability and nose for the ball.

    5) As a Bills fan, definitely hoping Adams goes to the NFC. I've seen three AFC teams linked to him (KC, Baltimore, and Houston) and the Chiefs/Ravens are more than good enough without adding Adams. Those are the teams we are going to have to overcome if the Bills want to be genuine contenders in the next couple years.

    Go Bills!

I am 100 percent in agreement with you on Davis, but in the event Adams gets traded he likely gets thrusted into a starting role. Beyond him you are looking at practice squad/scrap heap types.

Even without Adams last year when he missed a few games the Jets were exceptional against the run. If the Jets do one thing well as an organization it’s scout and develop large interior dlineman who can tie up blockers and free up guys like Adams to make a lot of plays in the backfield.

Im glad you agree on the Godwin/Adams trade. The sad part about it is the Jets could have drafted Godwin in the first place, but passed on him for Ardarius Stewart.

Maybe look up all of the negative consequences of economic collapse and quarentine, including rising suicide and death rates, increased domestic violence rates, decreased mental health, etc.

For every 1% increase in unemployment there is an increase of 37,000 deaths (including 20,000 heart attacks), 920 suicides, 650 homicides, 4,000 state mental hospital admissions and 3,300 state prison admissions. Unemployment has increased by about 8-10 percent, so we are talking 300,000 to 400,000 deaths due to shutting down the economy and people losing their jobs. What's the death toll for COVID-19 so far?

And I want to watch football.

Are you saying scientists and doctors have finally come to a consensus? For every one of them claiming one thing, there are three claiming the opposite.

We need to get this thing under control and the way to do that is social distancing and contact tracing.

I know it sucks, but do you want to see half a million people dead at the end of this?

I wonder if they can run the numbers in the last couple weeks to see just how many people have tested positive and been asymptomatic?

Seem like just about every case in college football these players have no symptoms.... Dr’s have been saying outs weakening, if that’s true will we see more people getting it with no symptoms?

There was a doctor in Italy that said it was weakening, but Fauchi said there is no way to determine that right now.

These guys make a living off their bodies. They definitely don’t want to be exposed to this virus.

Just two years ago the Pats*** beat the Rams with defense.

When is Gase going to be fired?

And how have the Bills/Jets done with consistently good defenses and bottom 5 offenses this decade? How many playoff victories between them?

I could get behind this. But I think you’d have to change the schedule to make it fair. Imagine being a good team that opens against KC and Baltimore. You don’t even have a chance basically.

Maybe run the through the division first. Then AFC divisional counterparts. Then NFC.

I would do it Word Cup style. Have four friendly games where results don’t matter aside from seeding. Then the last two you play your division tourney style. The winner goes to the playoffs.

Horowitz: All the ways the media is misleading you about a record spike in Florida

"Recently, the New Yorker warned that in Florida, 12,673 people are hospitalized with coronavirus. The media is still trying to give you the impression that Florida has become like New York City at its peak, when roughly the same number were hospitalized with COVID-19 in early April. In fact, Florida never had more than 2,000 people hospitalized at once, just 3.5% of capacity. The 12,673 is the cumulative number since March. Florida still has far fewer people in ICUs than it did during its peak, which was itself was much milder than the peak in many other states."

Dr Fauchi pretty much shot this idea that the virus is weaker down today. There is no evidence that’s the case right now.

These politicians are not public health officials. This thing is still out there and until we have it under control you should probably avoid public public places without a mask.

The idea of a bubble league sounds easy but the logistics are hard. The NHL NBA and MLB are all running into issues with these logistics and they aren't anywhere near the same logistical nightmare the NFL could be. And keep in mind it isn't just the players health you are looking out for.

In addition to the 53 players plus the 12 Ps players you probably have 100 plus people that support the team. Dozens of coaches, trainers, equipment managers and support staff. Then you have the grounds keepers and security at the venues along with other staffs and personnel for the hotels and isolating venues players could be forced to stay at. Toss in the TV crews and you are easily looking at thousands of people.

I think it is possible that they can do a bubble league but it is going to be a lot harder than people think

I’m sure the NFL has a number of contingency plans in place. If the infection rate is very low the risk is pretty minimal. The NFL will try to play these games on the moon if they have to before calling it quits.

I'd be surprised if they gave up a weapon like gallup on a season with super bowl aspirations.  Especially with nothing really behind gallup.  I think they think lamb's main contributions this year will likely come from the slot with a fair amount of 11 personnel groupings.

How about Adams and Perriman for Godwin? Jets get stud #1 WR, Adams goes back to play for Bowles, Perriman replaces Godwin in Tampa as full time starter.

Nothing to do with Adams. I have no issue with him wanting more money and I also have no issue with the Jets saying wait until next year.

Sooner or later the same scenario will play out with the Bills. It happened to Seattle. It happens to all teams that have young talent.

My point was fans of the Bills should not throw stones at any other team's dysfunction.

You will never find a team where are all 53 players are happy with their contracts. That said Jamal crossed the line with his actions this week. If he truly wanted to stay with the Jets he wouldn’t have done these things. He’s made it so that the Jets would look terrible if they did cave and sign him.

If they don’t trade him I can see him pulling a bell and sitting out for the 2020 season. I read a rumor he wants to go to Tampa or Miami

He’s got two years left on his contract and he’s seeking 20+MM a year (5MM more than any other safety). Good luck Jamal.

  11. It’s pretty much over for Trump IMO. Biden is winning and the Dems are going to get the Senate. Republicans had their chance and its time to see what the Dems can do with the numbers advantage and the presidency.

That brings me to the legacy of Donald Trump. While I think his administration actually did some good things

#1. His tax planned allowed for corporations to have success in the US and not get penalized as much as before. This has certainly helped stimulate the economy and create jobs.

#2. Unlike his predecessors he didn’t start any wars

#3. He took a strong stance on China which I think was personally overdue

#4. He tried to reach out directly with North Korea. It didn’t work, but I appreciate the attempt.

Unfortunately by all accounts his administration was a complete shitshow. He literally fired all of his top ranking cabinet members within a year (What’s that say about his judgement of character and plan for our country?). His response to COVID-19 has not only endangered the lives of millions, but has embarrassed our nation.

Trump can’t get out of office fast enough, but while most will compare his presidency to that of Nixon I actually think it was most similar to Jimmy Carter (one of Trumps biggest detractors). Both were odd candidates loosely qualified for the job, and both ran completely disorganized administrations. I actually think the Carter response to the energy crisis is a very similar comp to the way Trump handled the pandemic.

It's ridiculous to consider Miami a hated rival of the Bills in the year 2020.

They absolutely were, for a very long time, a long time ago.

That rivalry has been straight up dead for quite some time now.

Jets are too incompetent to be thought of as a rival by me at least.

    New England?  Yes, definitely.

Can't really think of anyone else.

The Bills organization has been too irrelevant for too long to be creating much in the way of rivalries.

    Luckily, that's changing now.

There is so much recency bias in your statements it’s cringe worthy. Just because a particular matchup hasn’t had meaning in years doesn’t take away from the history of the rivalry. When was the last time Cowboys/Redskins mattered?

    This.  Price matters.

Adams is one of the best Safeties in the NFL. Hyde is in the next tier of very good Safeties.

At the Safety position, and in relation to roster building:

Hyde at 6M per >>> Adams at 15M+ per

Adams is a lot more than just a safety. He’s a chess piece and foundation piece for any defense.
