  1. Winters is a tough guy who would play hurt and was well-respected in the locker room. He’s a high end backup, but just isn’t physical enough to be a 16 game starter. He also gets banged up constantly and it’s doubtful he can make it through a season at this point.

Not even the Jets? May I ask why?

I’m somewhat of a Darnold skeptic (even though I like the kid). I just am not sold he’s the long term answer.

if you have that take on a Jets message board you are immediately labeled a troll (same deal back when folks used to question Pennington or Sanchez). I will go back to Jets message board after the book on Darnold has been told.

Politely curious.....but do you post on the Jets board too? Same screen name? Do you cover the entire AFCE?  The entire AFC?  Or are you on every team’s board? Enquiring minds want to know.

I only post on this message board.

Bowles nearly went to the playoffs with Ryan Fitzpatrick.  He’s too low.

also, Jauron is too low.  Look at those rosters.  It’s absolutely amazing they won 7 games.  They were bottom 5 teams with talent.

Bowles was absolutely the worst Jets HC since Kotite. Was the requisite talent on the roster? No, but there was no excuse for his team to lay an egg in a quarter of the games.

Bowles teams would have a moments where they would win an unexpected game or a close loss to a good team where you think something is clicking only to watch them give zero effort the following week.

That Barkley loss was signature Bowles. He was good for 4-5 games a year where his team was completely unprepared

The Bills are in the same position as 90% of the league, and that includes your Jets and NE - if they lose their starting QB for any significant length of time, they’re in big trouble. Bridgewater and NO last year notwithstanding, most backup QBs in this league are bad.

And it’s comical that you think Flacco isn’t completely washed up after flaming out in Denver last year. I’d be more worried about your starter if I were you anyways. Him, and the fact that your best player is routinely talking trash online trying to get outta town. Worry about that.

I think Flacco can be a Pro Bowl starter for the Jets by years end. Perhaps he had a Vinny Testavetde type run.

Who is Tampa's insurance policy? Or SF? Or KC? Or Baltimore?

San Francisco has Nate Mullens who is pretty highly regarded around the league.

Baltimore has RG3 who is far more accomplished than Barkley.

KC and TB are up against the cap so they really don’t have that luxury. That said both of their coaches are offensive masterminds who can probably get solid play out of a Chad Henné type.

This is funny because Barkley beat the brakes off the Jets.

Does Jetfan even revisit his own threads anymore? Or does he just drive-by troll us now?

The Jets completely quit on Todd Bowles that game. I think Barkley’s overall body of work speaks for itself.

The Bills had ample opportunities to upgrade that position this offseason and decided not to.

Bringing in another QB is a delecate situation....if you bring in a vet who has been a starter and had success....you run a chance of creating a problem

I thought the bills handled it right.....Fromm wont be looked at as a threat to Allen but had a lot of college success....so he might be good

Its the most important position on the field. If Allen can’t beat out Joe Flacco, Colt McCoy, Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston, or Marcus Marietta than he’s probably not the guy.

It's a loose comparison, but this is Bledsoe to the Bills.

We were still trying to replace Kelly - and every single one of us talked ourselves into that being THE move.  We were back, baby.

Pats fans are doing the same right now. But like the Patriots of the early 2000's, it's our turn to be the crusher of dreams.  The Bills are the rightful heir to the AFCE throne.  No QB who refuses to dive for a fumble is gonna change that.

Cam Newton at 75% is better than any other QB in this division (with the exception of Tua). This opinion is from PFF who created the sport.

  9. I’m pretty surprised the Bills as a contender didn’t take out an insurance policy for Josh Allen. With Newton in the fold this division is going to be a dogfight and if Barkley/Fromm has to start meaningful games that could be the difference.

I know you guys love Beane/McDermott and they are doing a great job, but to me they made a mistake here.

Every team in the division has proven QBs behind their starter with the exception of the prohibitive favorite.

I generally don't spend too much time thinking about who the opponent has. For me, it's all about the Bills, and the Bills are just as good this morning as they were on Friday.  So I can't get too excited about Cam going to New England. Having said that, I do have some thoughts about this, mostly that I doubt Cam will have a big impact on the Pats:

    1. I've never liked Cam. He doesn't have his emotions under control. The game is all about him and not so much about the team. He's never impressed me as a good decision maker.  All of those things are 180 degrees opposite of Tom Brady is.  The Pats have a complicated offense that changes from week to week and that relies on a fifteen-year playbook.  Newton's has missed the spring and will have a short, weird camp.  There's no way he runs the offense like Brady did, and that makes the Pats offense weaker, not stronger.

    2. Belichick is a genius and he knows that Newton will never do what Brady did. Beliechick already has who knows how many creative ideas about how to put Newton's legs and arm to work.  But to do that, he has to significantly retool the offense. He has to make it look more like Carolina's offense looked.  The league knows how to stop the Newton-oriented Carolina offense.  Hoyer knows how to run the Brady-oriented offense and can do it pretty well. Retooling the offense to fit Newton makes Hoyer a lot less valuable.

    3. Newton has had a passer rating ABOVE 90 twice in his pro career.  During the years Newton has been in the league, Brady had a passer rating BELOW 90 twice. Anybody who has watched pro football for the last ten years knows Cam Newton is not Tom Brady.

    4. None of that even considers what seems to be true: Newton's body is pretty worn out. Relying on his legs to create a dynamic offense is probably a bad bet.

    5. I never count Belichick out.

Cam Newton has a lot of ability. If he’s healthy BB and the Pats will get the most out of him. The road to the division title got a heck of a lot harder for Buffalo.

Just for emphasis Josh Allen has a career 1.42 TD/INT ratio.  So even after removing Newton's best season he is still ahead of Allen.  Ok got it.  Thanks.

TD/INT ratio isn’t that important IMO. You can have one or two games that skews it in either direction. Look at the Redskins who completely tanked the last two weeks of the season on defense giving up 9 combined TD passes to Dak Prescott and Daniel Jones. Great stat padding for those guys.

I think YPA is the best stat to give you an idea as to how effective a QB is. For a standard QB I think anything below 7.5 isn’t workable. Guys like Allen and Newton can probably be a little under that given their ability to run.

Newton is strange in that his first two years and his MVP year he was 7.8+ which is very good. Beyond that he’s only been above 7.0 one time.

Peterman is all time bad from game 1. Least talented QB to maybe get any real NFL look.

EJ showed promise at points. He actually played decent at points.

    Big difference.

EJ Manuel only really got one season (15 starts) before the Bills knew he wasn’t the answer. He’s now out of the league.

I think Manuel’s style infuriated coaches and players. He was inaccurate and also afraid to throw the ball down the field.

Bledsoe was really frustrating in 04. I would definitely say last year’s team was by far the best. The 14 team was next best, but they got jobbed really bad by the refs in at least a couple games (including Pats and Broncos). The 14 team could have made an interesting playoff run.

Im not a Bills fan, but the 2004 team was loaded.

    McGahee, Moulds, Evans on offense

Spikes, Fletcher, Sam Adams, Pat Williams, Aaron Schobel, Lawyer Milloy, good CBs

It seemed like they were set up very well with a bunch of these guys young/in their prime and a rookie first round QB in Losman being groomed to take over for Drew Bledsoe.

Rex's downfall was he was too stubborn with his system (which had been figured out by many teams before he got to Buffalo) to play to our defensive strengths.  M. Williams, Hughes, Dareus, and K. Williams had 40 sacks total in 2014.  They had 11 total in 2015.  It's a shame too because Taylor and Shady in Greg Roman's system with an elite defense could've made some noise in the playoffs.  He then scapegoated his failures by releasing Mario and firing Roman after the Bills gave up 37 points to the Fitzpatrick led Jets.  There was also this embarrassing headline just to show you how little he paid attention to the details.

Rex Ryan unhappy Chiefs’ video board didn’t show some replays

Rex actually put together a pretty good coaching staff with Anthony Lynn and Greg Roman. Big upgrade from Doug Marrone and Nathanial Hackett.

Also Mario and Kyle were at the end of their careers when Rex got there and Dareus has always been a slug. It’s possible that those guys play diminished organically.

I would take the Bills current head coach above Ryan without question, for one. Playoff wins is your criteria?  Stop living in the past of questionable glory.   I know this about Rex:  He destroyed the Bills in his time here.  He is in the bottom 5 of coaches here easily all time and we have had some bad ones.  I repeat: Only a Jets fan would take him seriously.  Just because he is the best of a horrible lot your team has had, including the incompetent fool currently coaching the Jets, does not make him good.

He’s a flawed head coach, but he’s been the most successful AFC East coach outside of BB since 2000. You may think McDermott is the better coach and he may be, but his resume isn’t better than Rex as of today.
