If going 0-4 against the 49ers,chargers,bills, and packers is a foregone conclusion that can be excused as easily after the fact as you are making it sound, you need to fire your coach. If they weren’t playing a third place schedule, that would’ve added even more matchups against playoff caliber teams that they would’ve lost if they are expected to lose games like that. Also, they got lucky running into quite a few very injured teams themselves so their injury excuse isn’t as strong as you think imo. First bills matchup and the ravens game were definite losses for them if we are normalizing team’s injury situations. Bengals game tua was struggling just as much or more so than bridgewater did in the second half. I’d give them the Vikings win and pats win but take away the bills and ravens win and they’d be right back where they started. Tua would’ve absolutely struggled against the jets it’s a monumental collapse finishing 0-6 when you need just one more win to make the playoffs id assume most of the firing talk is based on them wanting their Sean Payton and Brady plan again though and not so much them thinking McDaniel is an bad coach.

I doubt it, unless they let him take tyreek and waddle with him for free lol. Someone would probably give him a chance but it’s far from a guarantee The dude is massively underperforming with a fringe superbowl caliber roster I don’t understand why people can’t see that. Even if you swap tua for prime Brady, that defense that’s loaded with talent still can’t stop anybody. If McDaniel got hired by someone else he would 100% be going to a team with significantly less talent than this dolphins team he has won 8 games with

I don’t mean to brag but I predicted all of this in the offseason 😂. Big step forward for their offense and big step backwards for their defense which would end up with the same results if I had to guess, there was a battle between Flores and the gm/owner about his treatment of tua even though Fitzpatrick was clearly the better qb. i don’t think they’ll end up firing McDaniel, I’m assuming they’d let him scapegoat the DC first. But it’s hard to say because they were 8-3 and nearly all the teams competing for the wildcard imploded. They only needed to go 1-5 down the stretch to make the playoffs and if they can’t do that some tough questions need to be asked.

It really is pretty pathetic…idk why this constantly gets overlooked. The average fan seems to only care about offense. If he gets fired that is going to be why. That defense is loaded with playermakers and I’m having trouble thinking of a defensive depth chart of that quality performing this badly ever. Flores never made it to the end of the rebuild but if you gave him chubb, armstead,Connor Williams, and tyreek hill I’m certain he would’ve won more than 8 games in a 17 game season no matter who the qb was

He absolutely did not the first game. That bills roster in the second half of that game was one of the worst squads fielded by anyone in the league due to all the injuries and they barely hung on to a 2 point win. We were missing like 13 starters by that point. Second game is debatable…I’m not sure if he ‘outcoached’ us or our players had a bad night tackling. either way, he’s a good offensive coordinator at best. Mcdaniel has done the anti-Flores and improved the offense but absolutely torpedoed the defense which has resulted in the same results Flores used to get with a much less talented roster

I still don’t really agree with this even with the 5 minutes we saw…the bills oline was dominating and the bengals oline was holding on for dear life. If the bills can run the football they are nearly impossible to stop and it was much more likely the bills were going to get home for a big time sack than the bengals. that game was far from a likely loss

You mentioned it in a throwaway sentence but I personally really only care about the playoff seeding because the players have worked so hard and fought through so much adversity this season. It may not happen in the next week or two, but they may rally and want a chance to win it all for demar. If the players and coaches decided they wanted to end the season right now I would 100% endorse that decision. I can’t speak for everyone but for me it has absolutely nothing to do with wanting to see my team win a Super Bowl. to me caring about demars health/the well being of the players is not some mutually exclusive idea to them being given a chance to compete still should they want it.

At the end of the day both coaches seemed to agree to not finish the game. If one coach doesn’t want to restart the game and one does, then you might see a forfeit. But I doubt that’s going to happen. I really don’t think the bengals could’ve played in those conditions either…they might not have known demar personally but I’m sure it really shook them up as well. Especially Higgins

His vitals being stable is not really the cause for potential concern at this point so there’s not a whole lot of info they could’ve said to put anyone at ease. His heart rate is normal now and they have him on a ventilator to ease his brain back into resuming normal activity while they monitor things but until they take him off that they really won’t know if there’s any long term damage. I think they have ways of telling if there is really serious brain damage while the patient is sedated so no news is good news at this point

I find it hard to believe the cincy oline would continue to be allowed to hold as badly as they were for 4 quarters so I think the bills were moving the ball easier in reality. There was an absolutely egregious hold on just about every offensive snap for cincy. At some point the bills dline was going to take over or the bills would have stopped blitzing if they were just letting holds go in this one. It’s hard to say what would’ve happened defensively

Assuming the ‘it was mcdermotts decision to not put his players out there to finish the game’ point is true , there’s no way I’d even consider doing anything to be an nfl company man after the actions of last night if I were McDermott. in that scenario McDermott and Taylor stepped in and saved the NFL from making possibly the biggest blunder in sports history and that’s how you’re gonna repay his team who has battling through adversity all year? if the nfl decides on a makeup date and the bills decide not to play, I’d leave it up to the bengals if they want the game to be treated as a forfeit or not but I would certainly not conclude a bills forfeit is the only option if I were the league .
-
The bills were behind but getting the ball to start the second half so that really doesn’t mean anything. Given how easily we were moving the ball too it could’ve easily been a double dip scenario I find it hard to believe the bills were losing that game…any thought of ‘they should be happy if it goes down as a tie’ or ‘they wouldve lost the game if Hamlin didn’t get injured anyway so why not take the extra rest’ is not necessarily accurate imo. It was going to be a shootout and the bengals have an immobile qb with a timebomb at RT.
-
Bengals had a huge weak link on the offensive line that the bills wanted to test…nfl seemed to decide this was a ‘let them play’ game though and the bengals oline was holding badly on every play. Not sure if they would’ve cracked down on it as the game went on but it was very noticeable
-
What makes you say Allen was going to be pressured? The bills offensive line was absolutely obliterating the bengals in the running and passing game. That was certainly headed for a shootout and I would’ve had my money on buffalo honestly…bills are pretty much unstoppable when they can run the football and I’d take the bills getting one or two stops over the bengals doing so seeing as Burrow is immobile and their RT was horrendous and getting away with obvious holds the whole first drive If the bills had the first possession and punted, maybe you get into the discussions about them potentially being too far behind to come back with the defense struggling to get stops. But as it stood I see no reason to assume the bills wouldn’t have marched right down the field and matched a bengals td

I just can’t see a forfeit…I think the nfl will choose a potential makeup date and leave it up to the teams whether they want to play. given how the bengals have handled things so far I doubt they’d push for the game to be played which is what it would take for the game to be treated as a bills forfeit imo. And if the nfl decides not to have a game it’s not going to be treated as a forfeit
