The Stadium Wall gives me solace
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall
I cannot disagree more strongly lol the only receiver in the area literally had no idea where the ball was. The way people are talking about this is such a ridiculous exaggeration from how it actually played out. there was a 0% chance that ball was getting caught. Godwin was likely not the initial target on that play and the pass rush/some defensive traffic prevented him from getting to his spot in time so he was completely turned around …the ball was likely supposed to hit a receiver closer to the start of the end zone and Godwin was camping out to catch a tipped ball. -

Something went really wrong there haha I can’t argue with this criticism at all. The punts I’ll defend but snapping the ball there was a mess. I think morse thought he caught someone Offside and snapped it and josh wasn’t really ready for it but that’s just a guess -

I really want to know if there’s some reason we don’t sneak that much…I can see a shotgun run vs an under center run from the goal line but there’s just no good reason not to attempt a sneak there so calling a shotgun run is ridiculous I think the choking bit is getting a little overblown in this one…it seemed like TB was content running the clock out on themselves and there’s no way they were gonna get any closer than a 1/1000 Hail Mary attempt if we played pretty conservative and pinned them deep in the second half multiple times. It wasn’t fun to watch but it was effective. that punt return in the jets game was absolute bollocks…there was a blatant trip on the 25 yard line but apparently only we commit special teams penalties 😂. That was the difference in this game for me and why it ended up pretty close when it shouldn’t have.we were absolutely dominating the field position game and just completely throwing it away on stupid ST penalties in the second half. Probably cost ourselves 80 yards of field position. We would’ve added on two more fgs at minimum despite trying to control the clock if we cleaned that up -

Haha I love how the lead up to the game around here was ‘the bucs defense is actually good we will probably lose the game’ and then there was a meltdown anyway because we made some mistakes despite winning the game fairly comfortably -
Week 8, Bucs v. Bills - GAME BALLS
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve never seen mike evans not push off on a play it is getting ridiculous -
We’ve had calls helping us and hurting us all year and I’d say it’s evened out but tonight felt like the classic ‘organized crime has a huge bet on the bucs to cover’ type game 😂 like just the play you mentioned is an ejection let alone a penalty lol

Why is this team, and staff, so dumb?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean this is semantics at this point…the ball did not get there when Godwin expected it or he completely lost it in the air.. from experience tracking a ball that’s way up there in a night game of baseball/football/whatever is harder than it looks my general point is it’s a stretch to say that Hail Mary almost worked when the guy getting the ball thrown to him had absolutely no idea where it was -
I’ll have to watch again but I got the vibe that the bucs had 12 men or were lined up Offside and we snapped it to catch them…I don’t think it was a hard count or anything
-
He completely lost the football…timing seemed off on that whole play because baker absolutely moonshotted it lol this being pitched as close to a completion is wild to me. He was never at any point ready to catch that pass
-
Somethin silly happened there…someone on the bills whether it was morse or josh thought they caught the bucs Offside and that they had a free play

The Official Fire Ken Dorsey Thread
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to VaMilBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean that’s kind of the point of a naked bootleg lol everything needs to look like it’s flowing left. The pulling lineman on a normal bootleg play kind of tips your hand so it’s a pretty common staple to run them naked. Defender made a nice play clogging up the throwing lane and some plays you just have to cut your losses -

The 3rd down play on the first drive could’ve been huge but it looked like the other receiver on that side of the field missed his pick to free diggs up and the defender made a nice one on one tackle. -
I was just coming to say this…I’ve seen walk off wins on plays like that. Why not try it

Why is this team, and staff, so dumb?
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
It definitely matters…none of the receivers ever located the football…I’ve never seen anything like it. It was an absolute moonshot. people saying ‘we almost lost’ when not a single receiver anywhere near the football knew it was coming is making me chuckle looked like Godwin got completely surprised by it as it whizzed past him -
Looked like he got a lot of single coverage looks in the second half…can’t blame the team for going to your best player in those situations. If the refs weren’t in ‘let’s keep this a game’ mode, diggs probably gets some of those holding calls I’d agree that under center goal lines runs are probably less successful but not sneaking it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Seemed like op was makin the point that an under center non sneak is just as bad if not worse than a shotgun run

Taron defended that play you’re talking about quite well it was just a great throw/catch. this Hail Mary criticism is laughable…no one on the field knew where the ball was because baker had to arc it 100 miles in the air since it was out of his range but we’re gonna continue this charade that we were close to giving up a td because it landed a few feet away from a receiver that never saw it? margin of error didn’t seem thin tonight, the ball bounced the bucs way every chance it got and we gave them two free first downs on 4th down yet the closest they came to winning was a 60+ yard pass that literally no one even attempted to make a play on -
If you didn’t see this game as an improvement over the previous two I just don’t know what to tell you. The bucs defense is better than the giants and pats considerably and we got a lot of players involved on offense and let the bucs run themselves right out of the game
-
He might be talking about the penalties in the second half…they were absolute killers. We threw away a ton of good field position with ST penalties punting was outstanding
-
Never thought I’d say this. Sean McDermott is a stupid coach.
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to Beast's topic in The Stadium Wall
They weren’t playing cincy kc or philly…this is honestly the craziest argument lol if they were playing those teams they probably go for it -
Ah my mistake then back to 0 excuses…I don’t even know what’s cute about a shotgun run on the goal line lol it’s not like it’s super creative or anything. Like a toss play to the outside under center is cuter than that and probably has an exponentially better chance of working
-
Evans pushed off big time on that play too and no call haha that’s really my argument for punting late…a ton went the bucs way and the closest they could conceivably come to winning with that bad field position most of the second half was a 1/1000 Hail Mary attempt where nobody even knew where the ball was
-
If anyone blew it tonight it was those holding penalties on the special teams and nobody will criticize it cuz of the punting/aggressiveness controversy haha offense was dominating the field position battle, the returns were always good too and the holds never looked super consequential. We threw away a lot of points on just ST penalties
-
I still really don’t understand that one…the only answer I’ll maybe accept is they were worried josh was banged up on a previous play. I will defend the punts all night long on this board but that shotgun run on the goal line is a real head scratcher. I can kind of understand it in other areas of the field because you don’t want to telegraph if a play is a pass or a run based on formations/substitutions but on the goal line I just can’t understand it
-
It’s a calculated risk that we all get to criticize with the power of hindsight. For instance, that pass attempt to a wide open knox to close out the giants game did not work out and everyone jumped all over it. Fairly aggressive play but very high percentage and we missed it
