Mahomes looking like crap right now.

That’s what happens when he isn’t chilling behind one of the best offensive lines in football.  If Allen had mahomes’ offensive line he’d break every record in the book.

Only injury that will impact them is Mahomes - or Kelce maybe. Doesn’t matter who else goes down.

You sound like the chiefs fans after the erick fisher injury in the afc championship a couple years ago lol. The offensive line is a huge strength of their current team.  Losing joe thuney would hurt. Sneed would be a big loss too

Easy maybe to say with hindsight.  Our OC/ qb have shown a reluctance to be patient with the run game , even in games with successful runs happening.   I can see a d plan to defend the big pass play , which they did and don’t forget, Josh threw another two ints with one in the red zone yet again.  We were trailing 6-7 at half , Diggs with zero targets in the half , is a highly successful strategy against a 11-3  team while you are 3-11 ! The ints weren’t a big deal against the worst roster in the NFL, but throw those pics against Cincinnati and lose two possessions to that offensive premiere trio of receivers and a qb completing just under 70 % of his passes , and it’s a recipe for disaster.   We stayed patient with the run against a team who had no ability to make big plays against us.

That was unusual for Dorsey, and even tho we didn’t pull away till late , he persisted running the ball with success.   I agree with you that perhaps late in the game the Bears might have adjusted  more against the run yet our history is we tend not to stick with the run game even when working.  That was our best all around running game this season I think , so you have to give credit to dorsey for sticking to what worked. The Bears didn’t deserve to be in that game at all based on roster talent and that final score wasn’t indicative of the actual talent difference as we played a team with NO EFFECTIVE PASSING GAME!
That’s why many analysts are on Cincy ; if our o starts slowly again,  we commit drive killing penalties ( as Samford, Brown have been prone to do ) and Josh refuses again to stay patient especially in the red zone , we won’t get away with playing like we did against the Bears. Expect that same type of D , forcing Josh to be smart ( please , let’s not hear the post game “ I can’t do that “ , or “ I want that back “ ).  So many were insulted by Cris Sims pointing out evidence of our inconsistency this year, yet when he talks about “ my boy blue” , they are all in with him. Fans only want to see or hear positives, but Sims was just pointing out there is a big difference in talent between the Bengals and Bears.

Cincy  will never be out of this game imo as unfortunately we are not a great sack producing team now unfortunately lacking Beans hand picked sack artist ; it’s a rough year for our d backfield to have hyde out with po less than 100 % , Tre still a step slow or at least less than 100% , Hamlin learning yet prone to taking bad angles , and Jackson / Elam not having a clear winner in their competition, and they struggle tracking  the ball in the air as all the dbs  ints have dropped off.  So we can’t play like last week , but I don’t expect us too!

This is the start of the playoffs really, and the team knows that. Josh has been 0-3 in the playoffs on the road and I think that finally changes as he lives up to his talent and plays knowing this is the road to the Super Bowl.  If he doesn’t throw any picks , it tells me he was patient like he was against KC , and he is starting to peak!  If he can just stay away from turnovers ( fumbles as well) we should have enough possessions to overcome our defensive backfield liabilities against a SB experienced , prior AFC champion QB , and  that means we’re ready to compete for the Lombardi. Burrow seems to be doing lots of talking and I’m not sure that’s the best thing against this team that has a d line that might be dangerous if really motivated!

Idk…I personally see cincy as bills lite.  Can’t really run the ball effectively and if the offensive line doesn’t play well things start to get a little bumpy.  Burrow has got more passing targets when his pocket is clean but josh is much better when the play breaks down and improvisation is needed.  I’m expecting the bengals offensive line to look like absolute dogsh*t without la’el collins but maybe they’ve got a shot at gameplanning around his absence.  As it stands though they are in huge trouble at RT and adeniji will need a ton of help.  The bengals didn’t do a whole lot after Collins went down and the pats were a fumble away from pulling off the comeback last week

people seem to be mostly enthralled by skill position players but football is almost always won in the trenches(unless you have josh Allen). The bills have a big advantage in this game imo now that boettger bates and morse are all back and the bengals pass rushers are pretty banged up

I could obviously be wrong but I’m callin it like I see it…this isn’t just blind fandom I don’t think lol.  a lot of the experts have this one wrong imo.  The only place I give the bengals the edge is wr but that gets evened out if their pass blocking doesn’t hold up.  The bills corners haven’t played great but the bengals secondary is trash outside of Jessie Bates.

They’re the defending AFC champs, so I guess he’s technically right. That being said, I think we all know Chiefs are still the big dog.

It was pretty flukey scheduling with the titans who were clearly not the best team in the conference ending up with the 1 seed.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that the bengals likely wouldn’t have beaten the bills and chiefs back to back which is probably what is causing this big chip on their shoulder

Lol, wow! I just don't get it. I mean do they think they are intimidating the Bills or something? I just can't wrap my head around it

He’s not even right lol Patrick Queen is pretty good but roquan smith and tyrus bowser are meh.  Seems like after the packers game with jaire Alexander that teams think they can just get under the bills skin

could also be that they are not happy about being home underdogs

Who becomes the new DC?  You want another downgrade like we had at OC?

I still don’t see Dorsey as a downgrade…Daboll had an extra veteran wide receiver, overall better offensive line play, an easier schedule, and his qb didn’t sprain his elbow  and he got the same production or worse out of the offense. This seems like a recency bias thing…we were all on here last year complaining the same amount or more about Daboll  😂

frazier has done pretty well considering our secondary was absolutely decimated by injuries most of the year…I think that aspect is what might intrigue teams.  We beat the chiefs with raw rookies/practice squad level talent all over the defensive backfield.  I wouldn’t hire him as a head coach without a solid plan for an OC though.  And if I was Frazier I would turn down the broncos job

Blah blah blah. From the Athletic:

The biggest game on paper this week is the Monday night tilt between the Bills and Bengals in Cincinnati. Who has the edge as these teams continue to fight it out for the top seed in the AFC?

Graff: I’m taking the Bengals at home. Since Week 9, they have the best offense in the NFL according to EPA per play, one spot ahead of the Chiefs. The Bills, meanwhile, rank 11th. Time is running out for them to return to the form we all expected as season-long Super Bowl favorites. So give me Joe Burrow at home.

Jones: I think the Bengals can get the job done again. They’re the hottest team in the league, riding a seven-game win streak, and I don’t see any reason why they can’t continue this brand of complementary football that is carrying them. Joe Burrow and his defense have already bested Patrick Mahomes. Josh Allen is next.

Sando: The Bengals at home have been my choice in this game for the past few weeks, and I’m sticking with it. They should get Josh Allen’s best punch, which could be enough for the Bills to win. I just like how Cincinnati has been playing and think they should be able to pull this one out at home.

Great analysis.  “Time is running out for [the Bills].”  “I don’t see any reason why [the Bengals] can’t continue.”  “I just like how Cincinnati has been playing.” 🙄

Bengals are the bills lite imo.  They aren’t super strong running the football and when the pass blocking is good, burrow looks good.  He doesn’t have the running ability that josh has when stuff goes sideways though.

they really haven’t been winning/playing any better than us so I’m not sure what these people are talking about lol they’ve had at least a bad half in the last three games

I can't agree... he was out there during 13 seconds. Him coming back is huge, but he doesn't make that much of a difference WRT us winning the Super Bowl or not. I would say that Kaiir Elam is the key to our success more than Hyde, because we desperately need a complement for Tre.

he makes a huge difference…the dropoff at safety after hyde/poyer is massive. A lot of what made 13 seconds possible was defenses constantly having to be fearful of tyreeks speed and he’s gone. The dolphins have converted quite a few third/fourth and forevers by hill and waddle just outrunning the defense

i don't want to split hair here. I stand behind what I said. I'm going back to Burrow in his college days too. I saw a winner and a guy who knows how to lead a team to victory.

I saw a Burrows who was elite in the playoffs and in the Super Bowl. He was absolutely fantastic in Arrowhead leading his team to a huge upset victory. Under attack and pressure he maintained his poise and delivered. Burrow is elite when it comes to big games. Sunday is a big game. You can do the math.

Lastly, I agree with your Allen take. My post wasn't meant to be an Allen vs Burrow comparassion. I'd take Allen over Burrow all day any day.

burrow is elite when he gets good pass protection.  We’ll see if they hold up without la’el collins.  And on the flip side the bills offensive line seems to be full go and the bengals have banged up pass rushers.  Josh looks the best of the three qbs (burrow,Allen, mahomes) when his offensive line is having a rough night imo.     burrow and mahomes are both significantly less effective than josh in those situations

if their backup RT is a dropoff from la’el collins then woof.   they could be in for a long night because collins isn’t even good lol Hakeem adeniji is terrible if thats who they go with

If Allen is a bust, McDermott & Beane aren't here in 2022. This team is nothing special outside of Allen.

I mean in that alternate reality where josh Allen was a bust we’d be drafting a lot earlier every year and we’d have more draft picks contributing early. People are kind of ignoring the fact that these are mostly late picks because our team is actually good now lol

If you look at the chiefs who also have picked late for years/not always had first round picks, they’ve got a pretty similar thing going on.  The only meaningful player they got out of the 2020 and 2019 drafts was ljarius sneed. 2021 they hit on creed obviously and nick Bolton has been playing better this year.

then 2022 they unloaded tyreek and had a ton of picks that are all looking mediocre at best. it’s still very early in their careers of course.

  11. It blows my mind that they’re not sure he has a concussion and the only ‘evidence’ is Mike McDaniel watching the film and thinking tua playing bad(he called it inconsistencies) could’ve been because of a head injury. I thought it was tua reporting symptoms but it sounds like that may not be the case.

A bit of a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory but the people that think they wanted to bench tua in a graceful way for the playoff push may have a point.

I think this one vs the Bengals is the biggest regular season game in a long time. Bills win they are probably the #1 seed. Lose and they are looking at the #3 seed. The Bills more than anybody feed off the home crowd. McDermott is undefeated at home in the playoffs but winless on the road.

If that’s you’re reasoning, I don’t understand how this could be the biggest because we could’ve been on the road the entire playoffs last year if we lost that second game against the pats

  13. 5 minutes ago, CincyBillsFan said:

I agree.  This game was much bigger then the Monday night game against the Bengal's.  If the Bills had lost that game they would likely have lost the division.

Yea I think there’s some recency bias going on here lol a loss to the pats last year would’ve been throwing the division away.  This bengals game at worst were the 3 seed and we have already clinched the division.  We’ve won 2 of our last 3 at arrowhead and were a defensive meltdown away from 3 out of 3 so it’s not like we have no chance if we’re not the 1 seed.

‘Not even close’ hahaha.  Burrow is useless when his offensive line isn’t playing well.  And I don’t think Allen’s offensive line has ever consistently played well
