Let’s be honest this award has become a who puts up the best stats as a QB award, it’s no longer MVP. To think that it’s not is naive. When you look at the stats Mahomes has a sizable advantage over the other 2, it’s his award to lose and I’m not sure there’s enough time for either guy to catch him

This is true and it’s stupid haha if josh had mahomes’ offensive line he’d win mvp easily.  It’s honestly pretty crazy he has been 95% as effective as mahomes with an exponentially worse offensive line.

  2. A lot of it is injury related…like everything else this year lol.  It’s pretty normal to be down an offensive linemen but since we were down boettger and bates too, van roten gets forced to play center when Mitch morse gets hurt. We were doing a great job against miamis front 7 before morse went down…it felt like josh had all day to throw the whole first half

couple that with the fact that there just aren’t many good offensive linemen coming out of college anymore.

Most qbs drafted early get picked by horrible teams and I’m like hmm maybe in the right situation they would’ve developed.  Zach Wilson is definitely not in that situation 😂. The 2022 jets are one of the best situations for an early qb draft pick.

Honestly it’s obvious that refs do affect the outcomes of games sometimes.  The NFL has worked to make every game close, so any one score game is potentially one bad call away from being affected.  Doesn’t always happen but I’ve seen plenty of close games where a 20 point swing can be attributed to 2-3 horrible calls.

does everyone remember our playoff game v the Texans, where their return guy caught the ball in the end zone then dropped it, and we recovered for a TD?  Some random nfl employees came on the field and took the TD away without an explanation.   The NFL changed the rule that off-season. Eliminating the need to kneel down, because of that play.  Clearly cost us 7 points in a playoff game.  There were other obnoxious calls in that game that all benefited the Texans.

I have no idea what the fish fans are complaining about, it seems fairly fair this game but the few things I notice- 2 chop block no calls against Milano - McKenzie a catch they ruled wasn’t - those were the most obvious ones I thought that were missed and they helped the fish.

Watching our teams play I do get the feeling their coaching staff is doing more with less.  They will be a force to recon with but luckily we have Josh allen and they don’t.

Seems like people disregard defense entirely from the convos like this I’ve had about the dolphins in this thread 😂.  On offense they’re doing about the same as us  with the same talent level…josh is certainly better than tua but they are way ahead at wr2 and our banged up offensive line hasn’t been as good.

On defense though, man they are doing a lot less with pretty similar ish defensive talent

To be honest there's some truth to this post with some of these points.

This division is everything (and more) that a lot of pundits felt the AFC West would be this year. And it's still very possible that the current window slams shut after this year which adds to the pressure of getting to and winning a SB right now.

Obviously nobody has crystal ball and things could change dramatically between Feb and next fall but have to expect the Dolphins and Jets to improve even further in the offseason. Patriots are a true wildcard because of Belichik's future hanging in the balance. But overall the Bills are in the toughest spot from a cap standpoint and will have a lot of challenges improving the roster and addressing the current holes, let alone preventing a major falloff due to pending FA departures and roster cuts.

There’s 0 truth to it.  This division being close for awhile was a mirage created by scheduling.  We had all our road division games before playing any home ones and Miami didn’t hit their difficult stretch of schedule until the end of the season and went 0-3 in that stretch.  This is as comfortable of a division lead as we’ve ever had.

Miami got lucky against us twice with our offensive line being ravaged by injuries or we would’ve blown them out both times. They are at the end of a rebuild after mortgaging a ton of resources on tyreek hill.  Their team is just not set up well to compete with the bills long term.  the jets are more on the right track but they have a ton of question marks also.  Miami is a one year wonder unless they have a huge defensive shakeup

what evidence is there that the bills are going to trail off? We were missing just about every high impact player on the defensive side for a big chunk of the season and we were still winning games.

seems like people are under the false assumption that Miami/NYJ can continue to make these big splashes in the offseason and they really can’t.  Miami traded a ton for hill/Chubb and lost a first rounder from tampering.  Both those teams will draft later than they have been too.  It’s really more about what coaching staff can develop talent and seeing as the dolphins have ran a talented defense straight into the ground I don’t have much faith in them in that regard

Check out some of their sour grapes on twitter. It is unbelievable. All one sided of course. Oh well, it sucks to be them.

I haven’t seen a single actual nfl analyst say that play was controversial so they’re really reaching on this one 😂. It is still absolutely baffling because Kohou 100% irrefutably held on the same play and got called for that too.  We would’ve had a first down if the dpi was called or not

the dolphins are the 2021 pats…beat us once mostly due to external factors,  played us pretty tough once and lost, struggled against quality opponents down the stretch coughing up the division lead, and will likely be stomped by us in the first round of the playoffs if they make it

    2. Our Dline and pass rush barring major injuries is going to be elite. Chubb will come along
and Phillips is going to be a Probowler

    4. Wilson and Monstert are going to be a major running attack combo that even our coach can not ignore.
    5. Defense will not have the rash of injuries to secondary like this year.
    6. Josh Allen is going to wear his body down as he keeps running and abusing it.
    7. If Buffalo does not get to the Superbowl this year they will drop off.
    8. We will find a way to get everyone paid by letting Gesicki and Jones walk
    and over restructring.
    9. We were one game out of the division even with our QB out 3.5 games
    10. Tua can play in the snow and heat."

We had a third string guard playing center against them for 4 quarters across both matchups and we got lucky? Lol they would’ve gotten blown out both games if that didn’t happen.

McDaniel is a great offensive coordinator but he’s not a head coach.  They are last in points allowed in the AFC and have a whopping one net point despite being loaded with playmakers on both sides of the ball

You will when Josh gets clocked and is out with an injury. I have no issues with him scrambling or an occassional designed run. But Dorsey is using him as much as Dabs. He might seem like Superman to us fans but he will get injured eventually. Shore up this pathetic OL and run Motor & Cook more.  Protect your #1 asset.

With how bad the pass blocking has been,  josh running the football is protecting him if anything.  Lots of rib injury/concussion injury potential when you’re taking a hard hit on a sack which is why the nfl has been so aggressive with enforcing roughing the passer rules.

While it's great to see the Patriots struggle and lose a game in such an absurd manner, I'm still not writing off Mac Jones after having one of the best rookie seasons ever and showing he can be a big time player in this league.

But you do get the sense that we are nearing the end of the Belichik era and any hope Jones does have of taking the next step is contingent on bringing in a fresh perspective to the Patriots organization (i.e. a real NFL OC) that understands how to build an offense that can compete with the leagues best QBs, including the Bills and JA17.

It is completely clear that mac was carried by a strong running game/defense and they were able to make the playoffs thanks to an easy schedule.  Their offensive line regressed a bit and the whole team has now completely fallen apart

     Yesterday's results.

Eagles 25 Bears 20. Eagles favored by 9. Eagles probably the best team in the league.

Also, Bills favored by 7 over Dolphins, Bills by 10 over Jets, etc...Bills were big favorites over Clev, Det, and Minn too. Every one of those games were close. Only game Bills covered that was a bigger spread was the NE game.

In short, the rational of the Bills being 10 point favorites doesn't indicate a blowout is coming. No one is doubting the Bills are the better team. However, thinking this game is a blowout is not how I see it. The last blowout game was week 5 vs Pitt.

Spreads don’t account for losing your starting center and being forced into having a third string guard play center midgame. Saturday night was an easy cover if morse finished the game.  Browns game and second jets games really weren’t ‘close’ by any means.  They were both back door covers.  It seems like Vegas just straight up whiffed on Detroit since they had a historic midseason turnaround…it is not surprising at all that that game was close given the results of their last 7 games (their only loss was to the bills). This was very much not a ‘the bills barely beat a bad team’ scenario.

bears also backdoor covered vs philly with a late garbage time touchdown.  I wouldn’t say the 9 point spread is proof a blowout is coming…the spread is set there because Vegas wants half the bets to be on the bears +9.  It is evidence that a comfortable win is very likely though.  Philly lost the turnover battle 3-1 and still won comfortably because they are a much better team than Chicago

seems to me like the psychological torment the bills have inflicted on us for years has caused people to not understand what a close game is haha. That bears eagles game was not very close

25-13 with 4 minutes to go in the 4th, outgained Chicago 421-248

I’m not objecting to the value he’s adding to the offense at all.  What about the defense though? Lol offense is only half the team.  They’ve got a lot of talent on the defensive side and they are playing extremely poorly. If we weren’t missing a bunch of offensive linemen in both matchups we would’ve torched them both times.

flores was useless on the offensive side but he had that defense playing very well and McDaniel is the opposite.  Maybe they’re more fun to watch with McDaniel at the helm but the results are pretty similar so far despite McDaniel having a lot more talent on both sides of the ball

    I like their coach .. I think he’s legit.

They are loaded though.  Probably the most talented team in the AFC outside QB.

They probably are hovering around 3-4 losses if Tua doesn’t miss games early in the season.

@Chargers, @Niners, @Bills is just an insane stretch of games… and it highlighted how important an elite QB truly is.  0-2 against teams with elite QB’s and while Miami is a Top 3 non-QB talent team.. SF is #1, and it showed.

I’m interested in the jets dolphins rematch…I don’t think tua wouldve performed much better than bridgewater in the games he missed.  He didn’t look good against cincy before the injury.  they probably beat Minnesota, I’m not sure about the jets. The jets have made pretty much every offense look bad.

McDaniel certainly installed an effective offensive system that plays to tuas strengths and I give him full credit for that but that defense has been extremely disappointing.  If we weren’t down bates and morse we would’ve easily dropped 40+ points

I’ve also seen some questionable decisions on his part costing his team points quite often.  Felt like he was just spitefully trying to get tua a passing td on those 3rd and short calls in the bills game lol

maybe people don’t hold the defense against McDaniel because he’s an offense guy but I don’t look at it that way.

total package, he’s mediocre at best in my opinion.  He’s got great skill position players and a mediocre qb playing well,  but on the flip side he has a talented defense playing poorly

Singletary- slowest back in the NFL

    Edmunds- lack of football instinct.

Edmunds has been good/great all year.
singletary seems criminally underrated around here too.  Saffold may not even be in the starting lineup if boettger returns which we’ll find out tomorrow. I would agree that saffold is very much not good though lol

Containing Fields running the ball has to be the Bills top priority. The guys legs are special. No small task. Montgomery is a much better version of Motsert. I thought the Bears game would be a relatively easy wins a few weeks ago. Not anymore.

Bears don’t have tyreek hill and waddle so the defensive gameplan will be much different. David Montgomery is not much better than mostert.  He is not even better than mostert

If you only care about offense maybe…that defense on paper is better than Flores’ squad  and they have taken a huge step backwards.  Does that not reflect on McDaniel because he is an offensive minded head coach?

even their offense isn’t really elite despite having tons of talent…they are racking up tons of yards but the ppg just isn’t there to support that defense.

We play like we did yesterday against the Chiefs, the Bengals or, if we get that far, the 49ers, Eagles or Cowboys and we get beaten. And there are weaknesses which we are relucant to or cannot address. If this was a one off, fine, but a lot of the issues shown yesterday have been persistent across the season.

An excellent win and a strong record this season is all well and good but improvement is required if we want to make and win the Super Bowl. I think that's all most are saying.

If we matched our performance this week with the chiefs performance this week we would’ve won by 3 scores probably.  We probably would’ve beat the cowboys and eagles this week also

Pretty great offensive performance honestly considering we had a third string center for half the game

McDaniel is a punky little dork who just may be able to coach.  And it pains me to say that.

They definitely came into Highmark figuring that the Bills wouldn’t be too worried about the run, so run they could and would.  I dunno about “jealous” but I was wondering who wasn’t setting the edge or minding their gap to let them run all over the place.

While I was watching the game I felt like they were running and passing all over us and converting 3rd downs at an epic pace, but when I looked at the end of game stats it wasn’t as bad as it seemed - 5 of 14 on 3rd down or about 1/3, Tua 17 of 30 passing.

    Bills need an OL upgrade

McDaniel is a mediocre/bad coach imo.  I don’t get where the hype is coming from.  They get talked about like they have an average roster and he is getting a lot out of his players but their team is absolutely stacked and very much in win now mode with the tyreek trade. They also added two great offensive linemen (when healthy) armstead and Connor Williams and win percentage wise they’re hovering at about previous dolphins team levels

Lots of head scratching playcalls on his part specifically in short yardage situations.  He’s got that defense that’s good on paper playing quite poorly too.  I don’t think he’s any better than Flores overall but his team is certainly more fun to watch because of tyreek/waddle.

How is the Miami Dolphins the better coached and more talented team?

    We beat them. They're 8-6. We're 11-3.

We beat them with a third string center that can only snap the ball to a qb in the shotgun. Gotta think that effected the gameplan.

Miami absolutely implodes when they’re missing an offensive lineman. We would’ve torched them if morse didn’t go down or if bates was available.  Dolphins got a gift against us twice this year…we played a whole half + with a third string center in the first matchup too

    8 minutes ago, Bruffalo said:

The incredibly poor offensive line play makes it really impossible to judge anything.  It's screwing up the rhythm because Allen has to whip out magic to make basic plays work. If he wasn't superhuman, this team would be dead in the water.

Without Morse, we have four out of the five lineman who are at replacement level.

Spencer Brown, for as big and athletic as he is, is constantly getting beat.  The guard play has been atrocious, Saffold might be the worst guy on the team if it wasn't for Bobby Hart.

I'm not going to judge Dorsey too harshly until we get some at least average guys graded in the O-Line.

Bates will help when he returns.  Van roten is bad when he plays his normal position but when he has to bump over to center he is pretty close to if not the worst offensive lineman in the league.

And if we don't start playing D like we did against the Jets, we're done. Why we can't be an attacking defense is beyond me. We need a new DC with an aggressive attitude. It's absolutely aggravating. We don't have the talent to play press against Hill and Waddle?....or have the ability to do that when need be? Why can't we send blitzes when we're stuffing the run game on passing downs? We need some new blood on  the Defensive staff. Josh Allen can't be  like P.Manning with no Defense. We're gonna get screwed with this 1990 Defensive approach.

Do people not watch the games?  Lol we blitzed on nearly half the snaps.  Completely different gameplan than the first meeting.

No question about that for 3 quarters that was a dreadful defensive performance.

You do equally have to give them some credit for playing their best in the clutch. After the strip sack of Josh it was absolutely critical that they held the Dolphins to a field goal, and they did. A Miami touchdown there and it is all but a wrap. So they did find some plays when needed.

Overall I agree it was a bad day for the defense. Not just the run game. They blew the coverage on the Waddle touchdown and the two guys who you could argue have been the most consistent players on this D the past two years - Poyer and Milano - both had very rough outings. We got a little bit of pressure around Tua early but struggled to maintain that as the game went on. It was not a good day.

But you have to look at the reasons why. And I think by far the biggest singular factor was lack of execution of our fundamentals. Bad tackling, loss of contain, and a big blown coverage.

There are a lot of people who just stylistically don't like our defense. That is their prerogative. But I think they let that bleed into "the scheme sucks" whenever the defense underperforms (which has done just twice this year btw - yesterday and the Vikings game). They have kept every other offense to or below their season average.

That was really the first game we didn’t look good on defense with most of our core players in there (Milano/edmunds/Hyde)

milano had a really tough night he was more than likely playing through an injury.
