That is not what was reported, but OK.

They said all week the bills were fired up to play?  I don’t remember hearing that but I could be wrong.

I just assumed there was zero chance Tua would play, regardless of where he remained in the protocol, simply because of the potential fall out another concussion would have...If he has a full offseason, and gets concussed again next year, at least they can say they were overly cautious...

I just think it's a massive risk for the kid...But if he plays he plays. The Bills better just assume it, and then adjust if he's officially out...B-)

I think it’ll be bridgewater trying to read through the lines of what McDaniel has been saying.  Sounds like he was just about ready yesterday

Tua or no Tua, bring it.  Bunch of damn scared kids hiding under their covers in this thread.  Probably the same ones that were scared of playing NE last year cus big bad old mean Belichick and playing the same team 3 times crap.

As probably will Miami because all they know how to do is blitz.

Didn’t even really work for them when we were missing two offensive line starters in the last meeting.

Nice call Italian!  Your optimism is something I don’t see a lot of on this board lately.  I went into the first half thread late in the first half and saw a lot of dark, un optimistic posting.

To be fair, that’s every game day thread the first time something doesn’t go the Bills way haha all these negative posters come out of nowhere and fill up the thread then disappear when we win by multiple scores haha

im still baffled by that…I think a bunch of people show up that don’t post here on a regular basis

Have ya watched the NFL ths year?!!? EVERY team has been up and down this year.

This bills team has been one of the least up and down teams I’ve ever seen lol I’m not sure what people are expecting.  Every loss was by a tiny margin and there weren’t any games like we’ve seen the last few years where we are bad in all three phases

we blew out a couple teams early in the year and people now expect it every time?

I think that will be determined following the season. The playoffs is the only season that matters.

I still don’t see the Dorsey criticism…idk if he’s great but he’s certainly better than any guys that are unemployed right now.  There were extremely make-able plays that our guys just didn’t execute in all three losses.

All the advanced team metrics love Bills DVOA, SRS, FPI, 538. The eye test hasn't been passed lately.

The eye test from our fans seems pretty biased though in that we give our opponents zero credit.  Cincy who is apparently the best thing since sliced bread got taken right down to the wire by NE and would’ve lost that game if it weren’t for a key fumble.

Yesterday was a huge plus for special teams for sure.

Not sure about #2 on offense anymore.  To start the year yes but it has but up ad down since then.

Idk the formula but we are the best on third down and we are second in ypg and ppg.  We scored less than 20 once all season and that was because our entire offensive line was injured lol

DVOA factors in opponents and we’ve got two division rivals with really tough defenses to score on

I didn't see Tua being in extreme doubt to play. Maybe I missed it?

But Mostert out is huge. He was gashing is because of the Cover 2 shell that we realistically will need to play again

Might be able to play some man depending on how banged up tyreek and waddle are.  They did not look healthy yesterday.  Pass rush is usually the best friend of a mediocre secondary and if the dolphins are missing a few offensive linemen they could be in trouble offensively.  With a qb that hasn’t played in weeks  and their two best skill position players banged up behind a patchwork offensive line, I just don’t see how they could outscore us.

We put up points on them last time missing multiple offensive linemen, I don’t think we would’ve punted if morse and bates were healthy

FWIW this chap broke down all Davis targets vs NE.  Now, the thing we don’t know when “Josh threw behind him twice…..threw him too far to the sideline once” is, to what extent are those throws the result of Davis not reading the defense the same way as Josh, thus not running the route as Josh expects him to run it?  Or, just not running the route as Josh expects?

That is always the unanswered question whenever a WR and the ball don’t wind up in the same place at the same time.  It’s a mistake, but whose?

Based on Josh’s reaction you can usually tell who’s at fault.  Looked like there were a couple of each in this game.  Also a few of those ‘thrown behind him’ type balls were very catchable.  The overthrow in the end zone looked like josh was being cautious and throwing it away because the linebacker was lurking so I wouldn’t really blame either for that one.

If gabe caught 50/50 balls with a little more regularity I’d have no problem chalking some of it up to certain throws weren’t great.  But he hardly ever comes down with them it seems

Has Josh checked it down enough to make this kind of evaluation about our RBs?

    I honestly don't think so.

A runningback who is open in the flat is honestly the last place Allen looks if he looks there at all.

The Bills FO targeted a running back like Cook and went after RBs with hands in the offseason (Washington  RB) and acquired Hines because they think this is a gap in our game.

Hines is also rather good at kickoff returns.

But I think the gap of throwing to a RB is with Allen's habits and processing, not the ability of the players we have.

This is not the same as hating on Allen. We have a good if not great offense, and Allen is a engine that makes it run.

Utilizing all his weapons though will make it that much harder for teams to defend him the way they do.

I think at this point if Dorsey wants to get Cook or our other running backs involved that way he has to simply design plays where throwing to them is Allen's primary read on schedule.

So kind of funny, but design the check down plays to isolate our RBs against defenders in the flats at the 2nd level.

I’d have to see what specific plays people are talkin about but speaking in general terms a lot of times a receiver looks open on tv because of the broadcast angle but if they switch to the view behind the qb you see a whole bunch of linemen’s hands in the passing lanes.  If the oline is getting steamrolled like ours often is and those defensive linemen get their hands up, those short underneath throws could potentially be a lot more difficult than they look.

But were they really wide open? No matter the game I'm watching the RB's often look wide open. Yet if they get the ball it's a 3 or 4 yard gain on 2nd & 10.  My guess is that defenses often organize themselves in such a way that they want the QB to take the check down and then they rally to the ball.  That's why McCaffrey is so valuable in the check down passing game - he makes the first guy miss and turns a 4 yard gain into an 8 yard gain. Our RB's haven't show the ability to consistently to do that.

It’s a lot of this, and some ‘the rb sneaks out on a delayed route after a block when the qb is already throwing the ball’

Allen would be back in the MVP discussion if Davis had done his job and caught the ball in his chest. Four TDs, including three bombs? No one else does that. Davis also dropped the bomb in his chest at the end of the Jets game. Catch those two balls alone, and Allen might be the MVP.

He would’ve needed like 10 passing tds today lol it’s gonna be tough for him to win mvp if we kept getting unlucky with the weather.  Seems like the weather was bad for a big chunk of games two years in a row now especially in away games

49ers DIDN'T let their receivers run free off the line of scrimmage. Disrupted their timing.

They did…are you thinking of the chargers?  Or are you assuming because the 49ers defense played well against Miami that they must’ve played a lot of press coverage?

49ers played it exactly the same way as what Leslie Frazier is criticized around here for.

I still don't see how all of these neutral site machinations are a better solution than pushing everything a week back and doing away with the pre-SB off week.

You’re giving everyone but cincy and buffalo an extra bye week that way.  I’m sure that was pitched to the owners and they turned it down

I don't think the short passes are as effective as you believe and we're talking about 5 yards NOT 10 yards.  I've seen a lot of check down offenses the last few weeks and they're boring & not very potent.  It works early in a game but over time the defenses adjust and they squeeze those initial 7 yard gains down to 3 yard gains.

IMO the Bills offense looked disjointed for four main reasons yesterday:

    *  Two KO TD returns meant two less offensive possessions.

    *  The Pats are a very good defense and a lot of offenses look disjointed against them.

    *  A couple of dropped asses which stalled out drives.

    *  Uneven O-line play, particularly with almost immediate pressure up the middle.

Also I don’t think josh really trusts singletary to catch the ball

His bend but don't break approach is what pisses me off. 49ers put out a blueprint on how to shut the Dolphins offense down and he refuses to use it

SF rushed 4 and played quarters off/2 deep all game and it worked for them.  Literally more like the Leslie Frazier defense you are criticizing than Leslie Frazier’s actual defense 😂

while I agree, our Pass D has gotten weaker as the season progressed, same with tackling. Hopefully everyone has a great week of practice and Leslie schemes up some unseen looks

Has it?  It’s hard to say if that’s true.  It’s mostly been people overreacting to the first drive or two for the defense the last few weeks.  We haven’t allowed a 300 yard passer since Cleveland and a big chunk of those yards were in garbage time.

Tackling was certainly bad in the second Miami game but the pass coverage was pretty good outside of that one blown coverage

They finished 2nd in the NFL allowing only 17.5 PPG and are the #1 RZ D in the NFL. 8th in yards.

    They'll be fine.

Why do people make it out like other teams defenses that are much worse than ours somehow are great while ours sucks?

    Cincinnati. Worse D

    Chargers. Worse D

    Chiefs. Worse D

    Ravens. Worse D

    Dolphins. Worse D

    Jaguars. Worse D

The Bills have the best D of any team in the AFC playoffs. Those are the facts.

People don’t ever want dbs to give any sort of cushion and if they do they are labeled as a soft, terrible defense lol

Regular season doesn’t matter in the playoffs.  And they played us close in one of those losses.

Again, I expect to win.  But I’m just saying it’s silly to disregard them as if this will be some cake walk.

If bates and morse weren’t injured in the same game I don’t think we would’ve punted. The dolphins will rack up plenty of yards though I’m sure but I just don’t think tua can beat josh in a shootout.  He’s just too predictable in his reads and where he likes to go with the football

Concussed Tua that doesn’t remember some of those plays?

No, healthy Tua.  The one GB saw before that, who’s at least competent.

I’m not asking you to be scared of Miami.. just not sure why anyone would draw anything from a game where they played their 3rd string QB.

He doesn’t remember the interceptions?  I haven’t read that anywhere.  I think he likely had no symptoms until after the game.  Not sure his bad second half can be chalked up to the concussion
