  1. This is the second time over the last decade that this happened. (2010 Hawks were the last including, if memory serves, a Beast Mode run for a win.) If this is what the rules say then that's what we've got to roll with for the time being. But really it should be teams per conference rather than division.
  2. My only real surprise is that Bill Belichick thought that rolling with Cam Newton this season would be good enough.
  3. I just rewatched the 50 yard completion to Diggs a couple of times. That pass is *sick*, and one I would never advise making against that coverage, well, assuming that they were actually watching the ball and not the receiver himself. It's been forever since I've seen a Bills team peaking. This squad is peaking, and at the right time. Regarding Miami, my thinking is the same as it was for the NE game and starters: see where you are after the first half, and adjust your substitutions as necessary.
  4. This is exactly where I am. The last time I felt this way was in 1990.
  5. Maybe he needed another rub down. Wow. That's just woeful.
  6. Very, very satisfying win. Maybe both Newton and Bill Belichick will exit the league after this season. I certainly hope so. That fake punt was a surprise, and (obviously) I'm glad that it worked. It made a statement against a team that used to do cutesy stuff against its opponents all the time, including the drop kick field goal c/o of Doug Flutie, and basically put New England on notice that a whooping was about to commence. Which it did.
  7. I somewhat expect the Pats game to be a chippy affair, in the sense that pulling the starters might be a good idea -- to ensure that star players aren't maimed before the playoffs. I would be fine if the Bills roll limited personnel against the Dolphins. However, given what this team has done over the past 4-6 weeks, intentionally losing a game would seem to be counterproductive and against the very foundations of which this team has been rebuilt.
  8. I was just thinking that Brees should ride off into the sunset.
  9. Kick ass early and often in the first half. Then rest the starters if it gets chippy.
  10. This game was like a bizarro 2013 season. I remember when the Bills would be playing for pride, and they would still lose. Holy *****, they're good now. Like really, really good. Can't wait to continue watching this unfold.
  11. Sure, let's just throw for 400 yards. (Plus officiating sucks, as normal.) But, my god! Soooooo good!!!
  12. I suppose that on the bright side -- I'm b$ about a call for a team who's 10-3 and who's probably going to end up in a great position tonight.
  13. I can't believe that I'm late in this game. I'm an #######. I was doing some coding stuff, based on a problem I figured out earlier, and suddenly it's watching the Bills kick ass, which I guess is par for the course with how things have been going recently.
  14. Awesome, @Virgil! No week is complete without this or without @Shaw66's long standing Rockpile Review! I was thinking about adjustments a lot this week, in particular because I had opined 6 weeks ago or so that with missing personnel / missing pieces that coaching would be the deciding factor for how far the team could go this season. And then I realized that it was both coaching and personnel as to why this team seemed to never to be able to adjust in the past. When you want to adjust and Zay Jones is the player (as an example) who you need to adjust, you can't get the job done -- because Zay Jones, generally, was a player who couldn't get the job done. But in spite of parts that I'd like to see being replaced on this team (*cough* Knox *cough cough*), there are plenty of guys who are both competitive and adaptable, and I think that's why adjustments work. Between coaching and personnel and this amazing game on Sunday night, I need to keep my BBFS in check. That ***** was awesome!
  15. I can't believe that I just checked in on it (slow workdays leading up to the holiday). They should have "Stan" by Eminem playing on loop in the background to pull the entire performance together.
  16. The team has been legit for over a year. Legit, to me at least, means having a winning season and getting into the playoffs, then doing the same thing again. Contenders, though? I was amped about it happening next year, but this year it could happen.
  17. The jrober38 stuff has been going on for 5 years, if not a bit longer, and dates back to the BBMB, where he opined that: Jay Cutler would be a suitable replacement to any of the Bills QBs at the time, and that we should trade for him. We missed out on blue chip talent when we didn't trade up for Wentz. We should trade all of our picks to draft Jameis Winston, also a blue chip talent. He knew more than the Bills GM (I suppose that's a debatable point, 'cause the GM at the time was Whaley). etc, etc, etc And some of those threads would go on for hundreds of pages. I never put the guy on ignore, tho, as I enjoyed watching the show. I often wondered when he'd just call it a day, and it looks like Allen's ascent has done the trick. Great!
  18. Great write up, as always. Unlike times and teams past, I went into the second half feeling pretty good, pretty optimistic, that the Bills would win. Why? The first half, albeit being hard fought, i.e. tough but with mistakes, would've buried so many past Bills squads. The quarterback would regress, mental errors would crop up, the penalties would start piling up, there would be injuries, and the Bills would be guaranteed to lose those games handily. This team has most definitely exceeded my expectations this year (even though I thought they were going 10-6 or 11-5 and with a playoff win).
  19. Gotta say that while I stayed up too late after the game, and my stomach went to hell in the middle of the night, even with a minimal amount of sleep -- I have this feeling of surreal joy this morning, like having a Carpenters' soundtrack playing in my head on perpetual loop.
  20. This is the first year that it seems like that in a long while. I remember that the 90 and 91 squads were particularly lethal.
