That -could've- been in Cincinnati...i swear, if it rains or even flurries, there might as well be a foot of snow on the road the way that people drive.

So where do they put the sirens on the horses? -
Mine arrived in the mail today - Thanks Jay!

I've seen this on about 5 different message boards, various IM profiles, and elsewhere, and I fail to see humor in some douchebag dancing for 5 minutes. Besides, this is like the 3rd time that its been posted on TSW

Amazing that there are still seats available...

I was in Sec. A, Row B, right across from Helio's pit. There was an older gentleman with a Bills seat cushion in my row, but I didn't say anything (was it you?) - I was wearing the '06 Bills draft hat.

Glad to see that you'll be going - I'll be driving up with a buddy who has family there (he's a Bears fan)...I'm sure it'll be a GREAT time -
Great race...even better finish. If anyone's interested, here are my pictures from yesterday: http://www.michaelgalati.com/thumbnails.php?album=13

Sure are a lot of Apple products on that list (and the honorable mentions) eh?

I did plenty of that at UC...hence the reason why I'm a 24 year old Junior. Time to grow up and move on.

Cincinnati's not my home - for my employer, I don't have much option but to leave if I want promoted. Limited opportunities = stuck or change companies. Frankly, I thoroughly enjoy working for Dell, so I'd rather not look elsewhere. Besides, as my boss always tell me, a job change/move isn't a life sentence - I want to try it out, if it doesn't work for me, there are hundreds of other options (all signs point to Texas, and I'd rather move north than south).
-
Well, I applied. Going to sit back and wait before I start making preparations to move - the job is 2 job grades above my current one, so I might not get much consideration, but I've been in my current position for ~2 years, so I'm hoping that the experience counts for something. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again for the advice.

Not from Buffalo...my only exposure to WNY is from trips to see Bills games, so I'm a complete outsider. I have always enjoyed my visits and really want the promotion, so I"m going to give it my all in hopes of getting the job. Thanks to everyone for your input...seems like Rochester might be the best option. Any idea what rent is like? Right now, I'm paying ~$400/mo as my part of a 3 bedroom house, but will be able/willing to pay $400-500/mo for a 1bedroom (perhaps more, depending on the difference in pay that I would get /w the promotion).

Home office is Austin, TX, thus it'll be in my apartment, as I'm a remote employee.

Not sure what parts of town I'm in - only 3 that I know for sure are: Walden Galleria - Buffalo Eastview Mall - Victor (Rochester) Carousel Center - Syracuse Might also include Crossgates Mall in Albany, but from what I can tell, thats pretty far from the others.

Called my dad - said to do whatever is best for me. he's always so insightful. The more I look at it, I'm thinking that near Buffalo would be best, as UB is quite inexpensive (especially when compared to Syracuse). Like I said, all hypothetical now, as I haven't even applied for the job (will later this evening), but if I get hired, I would imagine that it would all move fairly quickly.

I'm going to be applying for a promotion which would move me from Cincinnati to WNY. If I were to get it, I'd be a regional manager in charge of stores located in Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse. Of these 3 cities, can I get some suggestions as to where would be the ideal place to live? I'll be 25 this fall...I'm single, so I'd probably be looking for a 1 bedroom or a studio (unless a 2 bedroom could be had for a decent price). I'd prefer to be near a 4 year university, as I've got about 80 credit hours to go to finish up my degree, so it'd be nice to be able to take some night classes and finish up over a couple of years. This is something that I've tossed around in the past, but the opportunity is available, and I think that I'm qualified, so I'm going for it. The fact that my girlfriend and I just broke up certainly helps make my decision... Any suggestions would be appreciated.

In peewee football (I was about 10 or 11 - again playing center), we had a play that we'd run in practice simply called "gold". Instead of snapping it, I would simply pick the ball up, tuck it, and run right up the gut. The one time we ran it, I got about a 15-20 yard gain, then after the whistle was blown and the play was dead, one of my buddies playing DB came and hit me in the back as I was getting up. Something blew up in my head, I threw him down, and started beating him mercilessly. The best part is that the coaches stood around and laughed and didn't pull me off for quite a while.

One time, Freshman or Sophomore year of high school, our JV team is playing against a much more athletic team. That year, due to a lack of turnout, our varsity team was barely able to get enough guys to put together a squad, so our JV had something like 18 players, with several playing both offense and defense. By halftime, our only running backs (2 or 3) had all been injured - ankles, MCL/ACL, etc., so we were doing absolutely nothing on offense. With the score something like 30/40-0 at halftime, our coach asked us "who here wants to play the 2nd half"...which was responded by most of us staring at the ground and/or mumbling. He then asked "who here wants to get on the bus and go home"...which resulted in about 90% of us raising our hands. The coach threw his hat on the ground and walked off...quitting right there on the spot. The assistant stepped up, gave us a pep talk, and we went out to lose the game. From that point forward, for the rest of the season, we went undefeated - something like 8-2 overall. I think we did it just to spite the !@#$ that had been our head coach. By the way, as the starting center, I also had the opportunity to play fullback and kick returner that game, due to the injuries to the "skilled" guys.

Worst case scenario, my 2 seats will be for sale in order to sit in the seats that I purchased from Jay.
