New Mexico red-shirted Pennington during his true freshman season in 2001. He started three of the 12 games he appeared in during the 2002 season. Pennington started one of the five games he appeared in during the 2003 season. He started 12 games in 2004 and 11 games in 2005. Pennington is a blue-collar player that possesses an excellent blend of size, strength and athletic ability but he isn't dominant in any one area. He isn't an overpowering drive blocker and he lacks the explosiveness to hold his own on an island in pass protection. Pennington should get a chance to make an NFL roster as a late-round selection in the 2006 draft.

My dad and brother-in-law are in a league together. I went home to visit my folks a few weeks ago, and I saw the Bills hat that I bought for my dad covered in signatures. I ask him who signed it and when, as he hasn't gone to any Bills games without me in the past couple of years, and it turns out that they went to some PBA event and got pro-bowlers to sign it. Friggin christ, I nearly blew a gasket. Told him that if he wears that hat to a Bills game, I'll burn it right there at the tailgate.

I still don't understand why people are flipping out - Marv knows the game better than ANY of us. You go to work and build things, sell things, etc. These guys go to work and evaluate talent and put together football teams. Leave it to the pros. How often do "projected" first rounders pan out? Marv has a solid history of drafting quality players when he goes for scholars and players with character. Take a deep !@#$ing breath and enjoy the fact that football season is once again upon us!
