I actually disagree. I think a guy like AR needs to be the guy and call the shots. Josh had next to zero support as a rookie. He had to be the guy and learn on the go. I’m not sure he ascends to be the guy he is today if he was playing Mac Jones ball for his first 2 years. -

I think you’re overrating just about every single one of those players. Compare them to second/third year Tre White or Matt Milano or Dion Dawkins. Where there was no question that they were starting caliber players. There’s some cause and effect backwards here. Tre and those guys WERE really good, so they got on the field quick. Guys like Boogie and Cody Ford etc etc were not really good so struggle to get on the field. I don’t think they are starting Shaq Lawson over AJE bc AJE needs to practice more. I think Shaq is viewed by the coaches as a better player. There’s a chance that one or two of them are hidden gems who are unlucky to be buried. But it’s much more likely that most of them are just not that good. -

Do you think there’s probably a correlation with how good those players are and how much playing time they get? Are we even sure that Elam, Shakir, AJE, Boogie, Bernard and Williams will be in the league in 3 years? -

The Bills don’t play rookies who suck. They just have a lot of them. -

Dolphins also are way over the cap in 2024. Obviously they can make lots of moves but they are hardly the pinnacle of overpaying for an RB in the nfl Allowing Taylor to seek a trade is like allowing Lamar to seek a trade. They want him to see his market, then come crawling back. -

AAV of 15M is top 3 at the position. Most of the RB woes aren’t dealing with contract #2, but contract #3. They are trying to negotiate contract #2 to compensate, and that’s where they are losing the battle. -
Here's the thing. Milano was beat out as a rookie by Ramon Humber. Not unreasonable, a vet beating out a rookie fifth rounder. Towards the middle/end of the year, he took the job over and never looked back. Note, the Bills did not bring in a bunch of dudes to replace him after that offseason. And Milano has started when healthy since. Shakir was beat out by Jamison Crowder/McKenzie. Again, not crazy, it happens. But instead of Shakir taking over when McK disappointed or when Crowder broke his ankle, the coaches turned to Shakir a bit more, and ended up bringing in Cole Beasley and John Brown to get PT because he didn't prove much. Then the coaches brought in Harty and Sherfield who have pretty much outplayed him by all reports so far. Is it possible that Shakir pops and cements himself on this team this year? Sure. Do I think he has more potential at this point than Shorter? No. Shakir has pretty much proven nothing at this level. It ain't over, but it appears that him not going Day 2 was right on the money. When you're a fifth round pick, and you're cheap to cut, you have to prove that you belong on the roster. Shakir may do that. I'm rooting for him. I would have liked nothing more than for him to have taken the starting slot job and ran with it. But he clearly hasn't, and having a ton of faith that he's gonna wake up and do it going forward seems really far-fetched.

Stefon Diggs had 700 yards as a rookie lol. I think everyone would be cool with Shakir if he dropped 700 yards last year. Instead, he got supplanted by the corpse of Coke Beasley who had already retired once. The love for a random fifth round pick is insane. Vosean Joseph weeps.

Dwayne Haskins killed [Edit: struck by vehicle]

??? All it took was for Haskins to get drugged, robbed, then get behind the wheel, then have that car have a mechanical defect that caused it to run out of gas, then have a driver speeding, then have the highway signs blocked and improperly lit. Okay bro -
Yep Lol I forgot they drafted him last year and he was a rookie. You made my point for me lmao. They signed an FA who had proven to be an NFL receiver, if not a great one to be their third or fourth target. We drafted Shakir who couldn’t get on the field to be our WR3/4. Surrounding a good QB with good talent is a good thing lol

Every local news station in the country should only talk about the Bills QB2 battle and debate if Trent Sherfield is the best WR in the AFC. Any mention of any other team should be followed with, “they suck, let’s talk about the linebackers of Buffalo.”
-
Sure I did. But as preseason stretched on, I hoped Breece would be further along and Dalvin would go elsewhere. Ah well.

Legit upset as a Dalvin Cook Breece Hall fantasy owner. Not upset as a Bills fan.

Jauron Ball -
I don’t agree with this. Harry’s 2021 would have been the best year of McK’s career. I dont think we should be expecting that Harty is a revelation, but I do expect that he will be fine in the gadget role.

James Cook’s middle name…. is Dalvin. Dalvin Cook’s middle name…. is James. is this a sign?

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 1
FireChans replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
If you polled the fans, about 28 teams in the NFL would say they have a terrible OL. Biggest issue from a performance perspective is how much of a liability your worst player on the OL is. You could have two All-Pros but you can’t have a Saffold at LG. -

The Shakir hype train was so strange. Really goes to show that a pick that fills a need doesn’t mean the pick will be any good.
