Apologies in advance to Frankish as I am only relating what I heard on the CBS Radio News at 6pm tonight. He didn’t like it the last time I did this. Newscaster describes USAID as a humanitarian aid agency and then goes to a sound bite from a Georgetown prof who says with drama in his voice, “USAID buys commodities to distribute around the world. Things like AIDS medicines for Africa and like buying food from American farmers and sending it around the world”. That was the entire “news” bit.

Good post. Rational and well thought out. Thank you. You should tell everyone you know, repeatedly, about the Joe Biden foreign policy master class. He’s not getting enough credit for it.

It’s the stress of pretending to close on a new house. It’s a big step for a young person.

Your evidence of the gas station story was a 10-year-old article written by a lifetime employee of USAID. Not a word of that article addressed where the money went. Is that really what you’re hanging your hat on today? How much of the $7.9 million earmarked for Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid binary-gendered language was actually for that purpose? Shouldn’t the number of dollars earmarked for that cause actually be zero? nobody is telling you not to cheer on fraud and waste. It seems like a really weird stance to take, but have at it. At least it’s not as weird as cheering on murder.

I will be happy for USAID to stick around and live a long life. Let’s hope they can do it without the fraud/waste/nonsense. That’s what most people are against. Not an acronym.
