The mistake that you are making is believing that by merely pointing out the many failures in California, people are thinking it’s unique to that particular state. A state run by democrats for a very long time. Nobody believes that. The failures are many. The people in charge own them, and in this case that is decades worth of democrats. Somebody has to take the heat. That’s generally the people in charge and that’s life.

In the past I have expressed a desire that immigration law be enforced. Your stock response is that anyone with that viewpoint is a racist.
