  1. I will probably not eat anything, for fear of throwing up at the sight of Brady and Belicheat. .
  2. Take me back to the early Super Bowls, please! Games started much earlier, like 2pm EST, no overhyped halftime extravaganzas, no hyping commercials, just good solid football. One of my favs was Super Bowl III, when Namath/Ewbank beat Unitas/Shula. .
  3. Used to - now I have an iron deficiency and get regular infusions of the stuff to keep my hemoglobin normal. That, plus have too much morphine and oxy in my system. .
  4. There can’t possibly be - I didn’t start it! ? .
  5. I should have taken Mark Twain ‘s advice... “Never argue with an idiot; they will drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.” .
  6. Why is it that the most popular guy on most losing football teams is the backup QB? .
  7. Well that’s a very cynical - and naive - way of looking at things. Places like Dana Farber, Sloan Kettering, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and dozens - if not hundreds - of others, including our own very excellent Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center - are working round the clock and spending $$billions$$ on research trying to find new ways to treat and cure cancer. Problem is, there are so many different typeset of cancer. For the 43% of those diagnosed with liver cancer at an early stage, the 5/year survival rate is 31%, if it hasn’t spread to other parts of the body. Roswell has managed to keep me alive since I was diagnosed in 2012, thru some unique treatments pioneered right here in Buffalo. So I’m lucky enough to be in that 31%, but I’ve been on ‘borrowed time’ for 2 years now. Money isn’t the problem. Cancer is just such an insidious disease that a true cure remains elusive. .
  8. According to a story I saw on the Today show, those fires were deliberately started in order to thaw the tracks and keep the trains running. (Of course, the Today show could be full of sh*t, especially if those tracks are for the ‘EL’ and have a 3rd rail - then I’d say definitely electrical. I was under the impression the tracks were for AMTRAK or commuter trains.) Back here in Buffalo, it’s 4 AM and the wind is still howling, but the snow seems to have tapered off. .
  9. This just in - driving ban now in effect in the City of Buffalo until 7:00 AM. .
  10. A cure? As a patient, I hope so, but doubt it. Best I think they accomplish is prevention thru some sort of vaccine. JMO .
  11. Well, we made the ABC national news tonight! Driving ban now includes Lancaster, where I’m stuck with my 92 year-old father. Not much to do - even our chocolate lab refuses to go outside. Supposed to have dinner out in Hamburg on Friday, if my friend’s flight into Buffalo isn’t cancelled tomorrow morning, and if they lift the driving ban. Hoping I can get back to my Buffalo home by the Super Bowl. .
  12. Well, I got nothin’ that can top either of those. I don’t think anyone does, unless they’ve been to Antarctica and the Sahara! .
  13. I’ll be sure to let them know! The Jacobi’s are great folks . They do so much for the community - during the shutdown, they delivered 40 pizzas to the TSA employees at the airport. They are animal lovers, and every Wednesday they deliver free pizzas to the workers at the local animal shelter. When I had my most recent chemoembolization, Roswell wouldn’t let me take an Uber or taxi home - Jeff and Lori sent a driver to pick me up! They’ll be tickled to hear you want a Casa in Atlanta. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get one! .
  14. True enough - one storm like this in Northern California, they’d pray for an earthquake instead! .
  15. I met the owner, Joe Jacobi, over the holidays at the Casa on Mohawk Street. He was back here visiting the family. (Jeff and Lori Jacobi are good friends of mine. I eat - and drink - at their place several times a week.) The 3 Jacobi brothers - Jim, Joe , Jeff - owned the original Casa on Elmwood. Jim and Joe cashed out, Jeff took over in Buffalo, and Joe opened up the 2 places in the Sarasota area. .
  16. Joe Jacobi opened two Casa di Pizza joints in Florida - one in Sarasota and one in Braedenton. Never been to them, so can’t comment on how the pizza compares to Jeff and Lori Jacobi’s Casa di Pizza In Buffalo.
  17. Right now temp is minus 3 at the airport, with gusts up to 43 mph, higher in some places. Wind chill is about 30 below. Only one flight arrived in Buffalo today, and only one departure wasn’t cancelled - to Atlanta. Even Gov. Cuomo’s plane couldn’t land here - it was diverted to Niagara Falls. Blizzard warning til 1 am, driving bans all over. Erie County and City of Buffalo have both declared State of Emergency. I don’t know why anyone lives here - when my dad passes, I’m moving to Maui. .
  18. Can’t really tell. Lazor played QB for Cornell when Hofher coached there, so I’m a bit unsure what he’s saying, other that he was an assistant for Hofher at UB. .
  19. Hofher was QB when I was at Cornell. One of my best friends was recruited by George Seifert. I’m pretty sure I’m much older than you, unless you played for Bob Blackman. What years did you play for the Big Red? .
  20. Yeah, I posted that article on the College Football board. The fact remains, and the author’s point is, instead of hiring from the Leach coaching tree, why not “go right to the wellspring?” Why not hire the “Actual Mike Leach (AML)”? .
  21. They left out ‘quarterback whisperer’ Mike Leach! Just as well - Leach already makes more money than McDermott, and he’d want to be Head Coach anyway. .
  22. Funny article from SI... https://www.si.com/college-football/2019/01/29/usc-graham-harrell-mike-leach-coaching-tree .
  23. I’m guessing New England will take him, and earlier than anyone thinks. They need to start grooming Brady’s eventual replacement now, and TJ is the perfect project QB. He looked solid in the Senior Bowl, and has the one asset that cannot be taught - 6 feet 7 inches tall. He’d probably develop faster under a ‘QB Whisperer’ like Kliff Kingsbury, but Arizona already has their project QB in Josh Rosen. OTOH, NE can afford to take the time to develop Jackson, and who could be a better mentor than Brady? I wish Tyree all the best, and hope things turn out well for him. .
  24. And, keeping.the Zappa theme going, here’s guitarist Steve Vai shredding with Frank in “Stevie’s Spanking”...
  25. I also have a hunch that the Cheatriots will take Tyree Jackson - they have to start grooming Brady’s replacement - but in round 2 ??? .
