This is a union, in my experience pay per performance isn't a thing unions like.

Bills' Picks Are Growing On Me!
Mikie2times replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually like the top two picks less as time progresses. McKelvin can't be mentioned by anybody without reference to his return abilities. Thats great if we didn't already have two of the top ten kick and punt returners of all time. Most people say his ball skills are below average and judging by his 3 career interceptions I would have to lean in that direction. To put it simply, he looks a lot like Winfield, with more athleticism and less physicality. Is that worth the spot he was drafted in? Time will tell, I just remember a lot of people knocking a damn good corner in Winfield just because he couldn't catch the ball. As for Hardy I have doubts about his character and ability. One quote in particular troubled me about his character, in reference to the incident with his father. It was something to the effect of "I need to stay out of Fort Wayne, because when I go to Fort Wayne bad things always seem to happen". I get what his point was, IE making smarter decisions about the places he goes and the people he hangs with, but he just doesn't strike me as somebody who understands personal accountability. He should be able to go home and not get in trouble. Fort Wayne is not why bad things are happening to him, it's his own decisions that are the reason bad things are happening to him. If he ends up being very successful will he stay grounded in terms of salary and his personal life? It's very difficult to say, but I would rather not have to entertain that question in the first place. As for his physical ability I've never seen much separation from him on tape, I've never seen the route running, or physicality needed at the next level. I'm very excited about what he brings to the red zone, but question what he can bring between the 20's. I'm still very much in support of these players and hope they pan out. It's not as if I hold anything against them, I guess I'm just not as giddy as some of our other posters until I see more from both of them. -
1999 Bills-Dolphins playoff game question
Mikie2times replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Moulds was fuggin insane that day. He, in his prime, is exactly what we've been missing for so long. A guy who can get deep, but be physical at the same time. I hope his departure doesn't taint just how good he was. -
Bluefire in 3....2....1....

I would argue about his right to be armed, but I am concerned about his logic to withdrawal the fire arm. Was he ever facing life threatening force? To me thats highly doubtful. What other situation is pulling a gun valid in? Was he under the influence? If you say yes, then he had no business having the fire arm on him. If you say no, but conceded that he wasn't facing a life threatening situation he had no business pulling the gun. I don't see many plausible scenarios in which this shouldn't go as a black mark against him.

A technique question about how we ran our D scheme
Mikie2times replied to Pyrite Gal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree that it will be much improved, but you also don't draft 3 CB's if you think the position is set. People who say it was just the pass rush are simplifying things way to much. It's always a combination of secondary play AND pass rush. Both were deficient, both were addressed, so we should stand to improve a great deal. -

Rucker to Cleveland - why?
Mikie2times replied to bills-fan in arizona's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats what I figured. Buffalo probably had a couple of guys targeted high, but one Bills scout has already indicated that he thought Fine was the best overall TE in the class. They probably said we won't trade up because we know we can get Fine, but if one of our guys falls to us early we will pill the trigger. -

Not exactly, that is, unless you feel like your in a better position to judge the problem then our coaching staff. I would say 3 corners drafted would indicate it wasn't just the pass rush to them. -
This defense is going to be very good
Mikie2times replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I'm saying is having good players in the middle will help your DE. He doesn't need a good DT, as was the case in 2006 AFTER Pat and Sam left, and he ranked 3rd in the league in sacks. That same year he averaged getting a sack in 75% of his games, while the other top 6 sacks leaders that year averaged getting a sack in only 59% of the games. In 2005 he ranked 5th. He actually had two of his best season without good interior players. He had a down year last year, but that isn't a clear signal his double digit years are behind him. Name me 7 players with more sacks then him over the last three seasons..... -

I don't think thats the case. Schobel is good enough to have been to a pro bowl. Kelsey and Denney are strong in the run game. Ellis has exceptional quickness as a pass rushing specialist. It's not our strongest area, but it's hardly a weakness, and it will only improve as the interior draws more attention. -
DE:Schobel,Kelsey,Ellis,Denney DT: Stroud, McCargo, Johnson, Williams OLB: Mitchell, Ellison, Bowen MLB: Posluszny, DiGiorgio OLB: Crowell CB: McKelvin, McGee, Greer, James, Corner, Youboty FS: Simpson, Wilson SS: Whitner Nucleus in bold Youth: Average nucleus age 26.47 Signed: 15 out of 17 nucleus players under contract threw 2009 Depth: 19 of 23 players with starting experience

For those who don't like this draft
Mikie2times replied to todd's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I REALLY liked the draft. At the same time I know that all of us, Bills included, are years out from knowing how good it was. So I don't blow a gasket and proclaim the draft a total failure or success. I think Todd, myself, and several others are fine with people not liking the draft. The board was made for debate, I just wish those with both positive and negative views would keep it in the context that none of us really know, or will ever know until about 3 years from now. It's one thing to say I don't like the draft, it's another to say the Bills draft sucked. You can not like it, but you sure as hell don't know if it sucked, just like I sure as hell don't know that it was good. -
Some people think our cheerleaders are ugly. I think all cheerleaders are special.

I stayed at a holiday in express last night, and can throw a football over a mountain. I also pee fruit punch Gatorade. Sometimes I pee on myself after I throw the football over the mountain. -
It just gets tiresome, the constant negativity, all the time. It's never ending, it makes me take weeks off from the board because I just can't take it anymore. It's one thing to be critical, present some reasoning why your being critical, have discussion etc. It's another to always be critical, never present anything worth discussion, never do anything but say the Bills suck, the Bills draft sucks, the Bills cheerleaders suck, Ralph sucks, field turf sucks, the uniform suck....These people add nothing to the board, they seem to be multiplying daily, and this thread is a perfect example of it. This draft sucks because of the positioning......... OK then, what would have made it not suck in terms of positioning? Why would drafting only by positional needs be a draft strategy that is better BPA? What particular positions should we have avoided the BPA theory for to draft? He adds no substance or reason for logical debate, just "this draft sucks because of positioning". Sorry if we don't welcome such rare insights with open arms.

If you liked the Patriots you would be crying about Mayo being taken so high, or O'Connell being picked in the 3rd.

Most people you mentioned just get irritated at the constant sky is falling posts that happen to overtake this board 75% of the year and 99% of the time when the draft is on. People get mad that player A or position B wasn't selected, when these same people have absolutely no clue what our coaches know about the current roster or what our talent evaluators know about the draft. They constantly B word that they know whats best over people who have been doing this for a life time, have 100 times more access to evaluation tools, and actually know who on the roster might be up and coming, who won't, and who might not even be with us soon. Our evaluators and coaches are not perfect, no coaches are perfect, no GM's are perfect, but anybody who presumes this draft to be a failure before it's even over, before at least 3 years has elapsed, based on position selected or the players selected, is a flat out idiot.

ESPN's draft coverage was atrocious
Mikie2times replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was playing around with my TV one day and unintentionally blocked ESPN. I don't know the code I blocked it in, but I know I haven't missed the channel one bit. I'm glad I did. I get the NFL network and what they did exceeded ESPN 100 times over. Kiper is nothing. He's a fan, never played the game, has no real knowledge to add thats relevant. At least NFL network had guys who played the game, and watched film. They had reporters who seemed to be 1000 times more entrenched in what was really happening then ESPN ever could. I'm all NFL network for my draft needs from this point forward. For awhile I thought NFL network was getting inside information, they just didn't miss very often. Wouldn't surprise me if they did, even if that wasn't the case, I'm sure as hell not going to feel sorry for MTVESPN. That network is a joke. -
I would rather to that to, I just don't expect we will.
