Players That Should Be HOF Inductee's But Are Not .
SirAndrew replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the football HOF does a really good job. There aren’t many players where it’s a travesty they haven’t made it. Ask me this question about the Rock & Roll HOF and I could go on for days. -
I’m tired of all the Fish, Jets, Ravens talk. The Chiefs and Bengals remain our real issue.

RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida
SirAndrew replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think you’re missing the beauty of a forum such as this. It’s a place not only to share our thoughts, but also for some us to learn. There’s some incredibly knowledgeable people on this board who I’ve learned a great deal from. I’m one of those who posted concerns about Shorter’s hands. There were pages of those concerns, so I immediately posted that I find it concerning. I was promptly corrected with stats, and once again, I learned something on TBD. That’s what a discussion is all about. Football misinformation used to take place on a bar stool back in the day, it was just considered guys talking back then. I appreciate your sentiment, but I think it’s taking the subject matter a bit too seriously. -
RD 5, Pick 150: WR Justin Shorter, Florida
SirAndrew replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ironically, I liked the 2017 defense better than some of our more recent higher ranked defensive teams. They picked the right spots to be aggressive, and made game changing plays. That’s been lacking, and a defense that makes big plays is exactly what you need with a talented offense. You’re going to give up points in the league, but that playmaking ability is huge come playoff time, and we haven’t had it, regardless of defense rankings. -

And that’s good enough for a fifth round pick at this moment imo. I have reservations when I hear about his hands, but I’m not saying this is a bad pick, it’s the fifth round. -

He certainly got the extension, but he still can’t catch. -

That’s fair, I didn’t have the stats, I’m just reading everywhere saying he had a problem with drops. -

Good point, but I think QB accuracy is more complex than catching a football. People assume low completion percentage means the QB is inaccurate. A QB’s supporting cast can make him appear to be more inaccurate than he is. I guarantee Josh would have been considered an accurate passer had he played with SEC level talent. -

Agree, I can’t dislike a fifth round pick, but I’m not in love with a guy who drops a ton of passes in college. You can have all the attributes, but how often do guys suddenly learn how to catch? -
That always seemed to be Iowa’s style, but I didn’t realize the o line had become so weak. They used to provide the league with a lot of o line talent, although it seemed like many of them didn’t live up to their billing if I recall correctly.
-
I’ve been wrong before, but the guy just looks like a bust, although I’m not sure why.
-
Wasn’t he Iowa State?
-
Iowa typically has good defensive talent and o line talent. They just can’t score points, because they never seem to have elite skill position guys.
-
Levis and Willis on the same roster is awesome. High potential for two QB busts on the depth chart.
-
Absolutely, also the type of story that makes one feel old way before they should.

Throw Manfred in the running for baseball fans too.

Spags was the best, it’s funny how close parody is to reality when dealing NY/NJ sports fans.

Your one, and only one, draft hot take?
SirAndrew replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is a weak draft class, with very few guys who are going to be game changers. There also aren’t any franchise QB’s in this class. -
There’s definitely some grey area, because living up to expectations is subjective. I’m just saying that most draft picks can’t be considered busts. No one expects the seventh round pick to be a starter, while people expect top ten picks to change the franchise. This puts more expectations on the first rounder, making him more likely to be considered a bust. I think of our QB situation over the years. I’d easily consider Losman and Manuel as busts, while Trent Edwards wasn’t a bust by my standards. Third round QB’s aren’t expected to be franchise guys. Lastly, would I consider Evans or Fina a bust? No, we got seven good seasons out of Lee Evans, and Fina was average, but as a guy taken lower in the first round, he contributed to this team for a decent amount of time.

Gunner's 2023 Draft Quarterback Evaluations
SirAndrew replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I couldn’t agree more. Ohio State always has great skill position talent. I think this allows QB’s to get tons of open receivers. OSU just over matches everyone in the Big Ten. They’re the only modern team in a conference that’s stuck in a Stone Age style of play. -
I can already envision Vegas as a team with very few fans, but that stadium will fill up with fans of other teams.

Josh Britt unverified Breakup rumour
SirAndrew replied to loveorhatembillsfan4life's topic in Off the Wall
I don’t even want to comment much on this topic, but I had similar thoughts to you. Regardless of what’s true, there’s some major melodrama being posted here. A couple in their twenties breaking up isn’t remotely catastrophic. -
That’s true, but I completely understand the Packers stance. Rodgers won’t play another down for the Packers. He isn’t part of their future under any circumstance. Why not try to get everything you want from the Jets? The Jets and Rodgers have told the entire planet that Aaron Rodgers will be a Jet long before a deal was done. Those are the two parties who look foolish if nothing happens. The Packers should hold out as long as possible.
