  1. My best guess: Jenkins gets cut when Lynch returns, Palmer gets cut (and added to PS) when Hardy returns. This is, of course, assuming no new players get added to IR within the next month.
  2. Please read the topic title, topic description, date at which this thread was started, post #21, and post #33.
  3. You are correct. See post #21 in this thread. The total number of Bills draft picks still in the NFL, as it stands now, is at 54 (33 on the Bills roster, 2 on the Bills practice squad, and 19 on other teams in some capacity). And while this was meant to be nothing more than an interesting "FWIW" thread, I will opine that the only player on that list whom I regret the Bills didn't keep is Antoine Winfield.
  4. As an update for those who are curious, this list is now at 19. Pennington, Wright, and Anderson were cut. Ko Simpson was traded to the Lions. And Duke Preston went from GB to Dallas.
  5. I'm actually wondering how this might affect the arrangement of the starting OL. Perhaps Turk was a fan of the ineffective: Walker-Wood-Hangartner-Levitre-Butler While Jauron prefers something like: Bell-Wood-Hangartner-Butler-Walker
  6. I seriously doubt there will be any surprise cuts this year (unless you count McIntyre, Jenkins, Bryan, Corto, Simpson, or Lankster as surprises). Remember that Pen!s Jauron, already conservative by nature, is on the hot seat and will want to go to battle with as many familiar vets as possible. Here's my latest roster prediction: K(1): Rian Lindell P(1): Brian Moorman LS(1): Garrison Sanborn QB(3): Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gibran Hamdan RB(4): Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, Dominic Rhodes, Xavier Omon WR(6): Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish, Steve Johnson, James Hardy TE(4): Derek Schouman, Derek Fine, Shawn Nelson, Jonathan Stupar T(3): Langston Walker, Brad Butler, Demetrius Bell G(3): Eric Wood, Adam Levitre, Kirk Chambers C(2): Geoff Hangartner, Seth McKinney DE(5): Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay, Ryan Denney, Aaron Maybin, Chris Ellis DT(4): Marcus Stroud, Kyle Williams, Spencer Johnson, John McCargo OLB(4): Kawika Mitchell, Keith Ellison, Nic Harris, Alvin Bowen MLB(2): Paul Posluszny, Marcus Buggs CB(5): Terrence McGee, Leodis McKelvin, Drayton Florence, Ashton Youboty, Reggie Corner SS(2): Bryan Scott, John Wendling FS(3): Donte Whitner, George Wilson, Jairus Byrd
  7. I don't know. Maybe? I've never womanized, cheated on college exams, concealed any culpability in an act of manslaughter, swindled hard-earning taxpayers of their money for decades, or generally expected the world to bend over backwards for me because of my pedigree. But, yes, I have once refused to commemorate the death of a pompous politician on an internet message board. Why do you even care what little old me thinks of your decomposing hero? And is your posthumous respect for Teddy even noble? Are you willing to bestow the same level of respect for political as$holes on the other side (Bush, Cheney, etc.) when their time comes?
  8. All politics aside, good riddance to a despicable human being who should have died 30 years ago.
  9. My prediction as of 8/22/09, 8 am: K(1): Rian Lindell P(1): Brian Moorman LS(1): Garrison Sanborn QB(3): Trent Edwards, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Gibran Hamdan RB(4): Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, Dominic Rhodes, Xavier Omon FB(1): Corey McIntyre WR(6): Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish, Steve Johnson, James Hardy TE(3): Derek Schouman, Derek Fine, Shawn Nelson T(3): Langston Walker, Brad Butler, Demetrius Bell G(3): Eric Wood, Adam Levitre, Kirk Chambers C(2): Geoff Hangartner, Seth McKinney DE(5): Aaron Schobel, Chris Kelsay, Ryan Denney, Aaron Maybin, Chris Ellis DT(4): Marcus Stroud, John McCargo, Kyle Williams, Spencer Johnson OLB(4): Kawika Mitchell, Nic Harris, Keith Ellison, Alvin Bowen MLB(2): Paul Posluszny, Pat Thomas CB(5): Terrence McGee, Leodis McKelvin, Ashton Youboty, Reggie Corner, Ellis Lankster SS(2): Bryan Scott, John Wendling FS(3): Donte Whitner, George Wilson, Jairus Byrd Practice Squad(8): QB Matt Baker, RB Bruce Hall, WR Felton Huggins, TE Jonathan Stupar, T Jonathan Scott, DE Copeland Bryan, LB Marcus Buggs, CB Cary Harris Injured Reserve(1): MLB John DiGiorgio
  10. But if you include the greater metropolitan areas surrounding cities, Jacksonville (#40) is not much bigger than Buffalo (#47) and is actually much smaller when you combine Rochester (#51) and also parts of the Toronto/Golden Horseshoe area: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Table_of_Unit...atistical_Areas Bottom line: it's a 6-team race (Bills, Jags, Raiders, Chargers, Vikings, Rams) to fill the 1-3 market voids that the NFL is interested in filling (L.A., a 2nd team in L.A., and Toronto). The wild cards for us Bills fans are Ralph's health and the economy's health.
  11. I've said this before, but I'll say it again: move the Raiders back to L.A., the Jags to Toronto, and keep the other 30 teams exactly where they are. This solution would maximize the NFL's representation across all the major viable TV markets in North America while pissing off the least amount of fans.
  12. We have a roster spot devoted solely to LONG SNAPPER, and people here are complaining about the frivolity of keeping the second best NFL punt returner?! Our special teams unit is the only one that is playoff-caliber right now. Our offense can't block, and our defense can't generate a pass rush. Unless we're talking about trading Parrish for a legitimate starting OL or DL player, I say cut Justin Jenkins, keep 6 WR's on the roster (Owens, Evans, Reed, PARRISH, Johnson, Hardy), and stop trying to dismantle the few components of this team that are actually working. If you're that worried about re-signing McGee, then cut genuine wastes of space like Kelsay or Schobel to free up some $$$.
  13. I counted 21 total. Let me know if I missed any others. Obviously this list will shrink some after all of the final roster cuts: Antoine Winfield, CB, 1999 (Minnesota) Sammy Morris, RB, 2000 (New England) Nate Clements, CB, 2001 (San Francisco) Jimmy Williams, CB, 2001 (Houston) Ron Edwards, DT, 2001 (Kansas City) Mike Williams, OT, 2002 (Washington) Coy Wire, S, 2002 (Atlanta) Justin Bannan, DT, 2002 (Baltimore) Rodney Wright, WR, 2002 (Kansas City) Willis McGahee, RB, 2003 (Baltimore) Mario Haggan, LB, 2003 (Denver) Sam Aiken, WR, 2003 (New England) Angelo Crowell, LB, 2003 (Tampa Bay) Tim Anderson, DT, 2004 (Dallas) Duke Preston, C, 2005 (Green Bay) Eric King, CB, 2005 (Detroit) Justin Geisinger, G, 2005 (Carolina) Terrance Pennington, T, 2006 (New York Giants) Dwayne Wright, RB, 2007 (New York Giants) C.J. Ah You, DE, 2007 (St. Louis) Kennard Cox, S, 2008 (Jacksonville)
  14. Well done, jauron666 I agree with you on 49 of your 53 roster picks. Here's what I disagree with: 1. Youboty (CB) makes it over Lankster (CB) 2. Bowen (LB) makes it over Buggs (LB) 3. Omon (RB) makes it over Hall (RB) 4. Wendling (S) makes it over Stupar (TE)
  15. My solution: move the Jags to Toronto, the Raiders to LA, and keep the other 30 teams right where they are...including our Bills.
  16. With all due respect, what was the point of this post in relation to my argument with Gene Frenkle? I see nothing in that excerpt that would help classify JC's particular brand of liberalism, i.e. whether he was a classical liberal or a socialist liberal.
  17. Incorrect. Again, there is no mention in those quotes - or in any of his quotes - where the role of the state was elucidated. Jesus, to paraphrase, said "you ought to financially help out the less fortunate whenever possible because they have intrinsic value too," not "you MUST financially help out the less fortunate or the Roman Empire will have you incarcerated for your insubordination." Jesus was a seminal political philosopher who helped lay the foundation for individual rights, but he predates the entire "socialism vs. laissez-faire capitalism" debate by about 1800 years. Gene, you seem to be espousing this false dichotomy where socialism equates to caring for others, while the free market is akin to "fu*k off, I'm in it only for myself." I would argue that the free market is morally and consequentially superior to socialism because its assistance for the destitute (via churches, Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, etc...) is completely voluntary and actually more efficient than what the state could ever provide (one of many examples: aid during Hurricane Katrina).
  18. Jesus spoke about the value of helping the poor and downtrodden in society, but I don't believe he ever specified whether that help should be compulsory (via the state, i.e. socialism) or voluntary.
  19. How about keeping the government out of marriage altogether?
  20. This is !@#$ing absurd. I don't want to delve into an argument over whose unsavory supporters are more hate-filled. My point is that Ron Paul is no more a black and Jew hating racist than Obama is a white and Christian hating racist. If you leftists need to attack Ron Paul, then attack him on the issues...that is, assuming you can even understand them. Because from my experience, leftist liberals don't even know what the Federal Reserve is or why it exists or how it operates. That was the point of this thread, wasn't it? To talk about the auditing of the Federal Reserve?
  21. Way to completely miss the point, genius. I probably need to spell it out for you: you can't judge a politician's personal opinions by the often disparate subsets of voters who - for whatever their reasons - choose to support said politician. You go by the politician's individual statements and records of political accomplishments. Many white supremacists liked Ron Paul because of his anti-big federal government agenda, which happens to be a favorable concept in the South. It's a shame that racism also happens to garner favorability in the South. But it would be completely asinine to think the two ideas are somehow related. (And by the way, the New Black Panthers and Islamic fundamentalists are very much hate groups in the same vein as white supremacists).
  22. You're probably conflating those "libertarian types" with "paleocon types." Libertarianism, by definition, sees people as autonomous individuals to be judged on their own merit and behavior; bigotry sees people as walking stereotypes to be prejudged on irrational simplifications like, say, skin color. Therefore, any self-proclaimed libertarian who embraces racism is not actually a libertarian. You, on the other hand, are very much a political bigot because you just used the non sequitor blanket statement that "libertarian types" don't like to "live around minorities."
