Former Steelers’ RB Le’Veon Bell plans to sign with…the New York Jets, a league source tells ESPN

And the wait is finally over.....

Pretty blah.......  Not really concerned about him at all.  Hopefully they paid him a ton.....

good they can blow their cap on the shiny object.   this is a passing league.  they still don't have any WRs who scare me even a little

I can’t remember one. Been a fan for 35 years. We have had single players like B Paup and M Williams who were single big signings. But nothing like this volume. Can people now see the process?

Never lost sight of it.  They said this was their plan 2 years ago.   Love that they are getting quality guys while keeping cap space to sign T White and other of their own guys they like

thank goodness.  no blowing the cap chasing shiny objects.   good.

He’s not a passer.  Just like Tyrod Taylor.   If you make Lamar actually play QB he’s not effective.  Look what the Chargers did to him in the playoffs.  I guess he could work in a heavy RPO offense similar to what RG3 ran in Washington....

I wouldn’t hitch my wagon to Lamar Jackson, JMO.

gotta be able to throw it in today's NFL.  LJ doesn't throw it well enough IMHO.  that fact will come out in time.

I will say, when’s he not hurt, he finds a way to score.  Shocking pick though he was a good player in college.  Personally, I think it would be stupid for the Bengals to trade him now since his value is so low.

But if it was for a 3rd or later, I’d be really interesting (depending on his physical). I love former 1st round picks who struggle on their first team.

wasn't Kelvin Benjamin pretty much like this?

The Sabres have been a mess since they took over....same with Bills though there is a glimmer of hope this offseason....I don't think they know how to run things

They're just some people that just happened to own a pile of land with Natural Gas in it just when NG became a big thing.   They fell into a pile of $$$ but really never have run anything.   Just be thankful they have showered their good $$ luck on WNY and let it go at that.  Without them, both teams would probably be gone.

  7. AB would get so blown up by his peers if he downgraded all the way to Buffalo, that his ego (and his agent, whose business would also be damaged for sending his player to the "north pole") would prevent him from signing with the Bills at any price.   For players and agents, this is business, nothing personal, and pro bowl players at skill positions making moves to the Bills is just plain bad for business.   Potential clients would forever look sideways at the agent ("you couldn't do better than Buffalo, for crying out loud, for AB in his prime??? " ) , and commercial deals for the player would dry up ("you thought commercial deals were scarce in Pittsburgh, wait til you get to Buffalo") .   Look at Shady's reaction when he was traded, look at Kelly's reaction when he was drafted, the list goes on... now we all know they warmed up to the place because it is not a awful as the world portrays it, but a FA (and his wife, importantly) with choices most times will  not take the chance.  Just sayin' .  This movie has been played dozens of times with the Bills and coaches and top players at skill positions , so we know how it goes.   Drafting talented , solid homeboy type players  ,  plus taking your cap surplus and signing your own guys at the end of their rookie deal is the path for this franchise.   Free agency is great, but let's not get our hopes up too high.

Buffalo gets a bad rap nowadays because of the "cold weather" and I gotta say it can't be nearly as bad as in Green Bay or Minnesota. I imagine even Cleveland shares this same attitude by many. I think all the losing gives them a worse rap then the weather.

It used to be so much worse in Buffalo in the 1970s because of the "love canal" being front page news across the country, the smell from the steel mills and even the air surrounding the city looked yellow because of the mills. Buffalo was the butt of many a late night talk show hosts jokes.

All that was before the four straight super bowl runs and needless to say winning really does cures everything. Now free agents wanted to come to Buffalo and NFL players noticed how rabid the Buffalo Bills fan base was and loved the idea of playing in that 80k plus stadium with crazed fans cheering them on.

Now, hold on here! It wasn't just about the weather in Buffalo as the NFL coaches, players knew what it was like to play for an owner like Ralph Wilson. Quite a lot of coaches, GMs, players didn't want anything to do with the Buffalo Bills because they saw that the team wasn't that committed to winning over everything else. The owner was a notoriously frugal, hands-on owner and as team president, he was involved in nearly every aspect of the team from the ball boys to what GM was being paid. Wilson was also involved in free agency and the draft as he would at times make the selections.

Winning Buffalo Bills head coach Chuck Knox left for Seattle when Wilson refused to give him a raise in pay even after turning around a franchise that didn't win a game against the Dolphins the entire decade of the 70s.

Ralph Wilson didn't get along with Bill Polian as both had a fiery temperament and Wilson was even more cantankerous. Polian went on to help take the Panthers to the NFC championship game in only its second year of existence. After that, the Colts hired and promoted Polian to team president and he got them to a few SBs.

Wilson didn't want to pay GM John Butler either because when Butler wouldn't immediately sign a new contract, Wilson stated if I can't hire you, then I'll fire you! Butler went on to build a powerhouse in San Diego. Ralph Wilson wasn't the very worst NFL owner, but he was awful close at times.

My take is Buffalo is now looked at as a family type town where it doesn't have that nightlife, party town 24/7 of some big cities. A lot of the star players from the 90s chose to stay and live in Buffalo and the weather isn't that big a deal anymore. As I said, I think it's more all the losing.

I still relish the scenes from the Bills locker room in 2017 when the Bengals beat the Ravens to catapult the Bills into the playoffs. I can only imagine things will change so much back into that 90s culture should this start winning year after year like they used to do. These new owners aren't anything like the previous owner and look to be 100% committed to winning over everything else. Bills fans are lucky to have them as owners.

ok then, FA starts in a couple months and we'll see who comes and who goes elsewhere... lets hope for the best, but don't hold your breath too too long.  the draft is the answer for this franchise as you can trap those guys for at least 4 years and there's nothing they can do about it..

I take it you are not married or are just newly married?  Of course, wives play an important role in job relocations.  Its not all about the money.

very true.   Bobby Ross' wife nixed  his coming there as well.   $$ being equal, no one is choosing B lo most of the time, coaching or player.  Just the way it is.  Mention buffalo, and people immediately say 'north pole'.  I gave up defending the place 25 years ago.  It is useless.   Jimmy Griffin and the national media  buried it 40 + years ago with the handling of the blizzard of 77.   Rock Star NFL personalities are very image conscious these days and they would take a hit is they voluntarily went "to buffalo" when the same $$ was available elsewhere.

Yeah, this was bound to happen. I wonder if he'll get another shot somewhere else. His knees are just beat at this point.

Good NFL career. got paid.  then body crapped out on him.   time for him to fade out.   The thing I don't like about this is he played hurt when he should have stayed out or the coaches should have seen he was hurt and benched him a couple years ago

Is there some reason to believe we are going to spend so much of that money that we need to find an additional 6 million to make it work?

People who are expecting a wild off season are going to be sorely disappointed.  They aren't going to go through what they went through to waste the entire cap this year.  To do so would require numerous multiple year contracts, which would drain the salary pool for years to come.

Agree.  T White will be expensive.   Remember McBeanes have a philosophy of paying their own.   LBs , DBs all need to get locked up.  Plus, No home town discounts in BLo. Will be very expensive to keep guys from listening to their agents and blowing out for LA or NY or FLA.   Not sure who needs to get paid, but be assured a pile of $$ will be saved up for them.   Having said that, I see several solid FAs getting paid to come to WNY this off season.

I don't dislike your picks, but John Brown will not sign with Buffalo. That's what makes this an exercise in futility. I suppose you could make it more realistic and charge 5 bucks for John Brown because a drastic overpay is the only way he's coming.

I think our best bet in FA'cy is OL. Morse, James, and Trent Brown seem like realistic options. Also like to take a flier on Maxx Williams. The skill position players will likely come through the draft.

Agree.   Spend $$ on OL.  OL stirs the drink in the NFL.   No OL, no winning.

I get where your coming from but, for me the pro's out weigh the con's because for #1 AB has proven he can handle the heavy load. I also think the similarities between Josh Allen and big Ben would allow AB to continue right where he left off as one of the best go to guys in the league.

Myself personally, sometimes a change of scenery works wonders for a fella's attitude even If he needs it adjusted a little by leaders in the Bills locker room.

Great players at the WR position want the football and AB has earned that right in my humble opinion.

I'd give a 2nd for him.   The guy is freakin great.

He got what he needed, which was more than we had to offer him at the time. More money, suberbowls,  great coach, and TB throwing to him.

yeah good for him.  such a good choice he made.   same for Woods, Watkins, Goodwin, that whole receiving crew needed to get the h-ll out of B Lo and they did it and are so much better off for it.
