sure, they have the right people in place now and are on a rational path, so yes it's pretty cool to watch them operate the player personnel rebuild piece...

The defensive side of the ball is actually pretty loaded - a lot of young guys, too. We’re only behind the league on offense - way behind.
and that will get fixed in the off-season and on draft day. not a second before. This years' roster is what it is.
trust the process.

Way too early to know anything. Hopefully Allen stays injured and watches a few more games. At least for the next one.

Well we need to do something. Beane isn't completely against making a trade this year, he was in on Khalil Mack before the price got out of control. One of Thomas, Cooper, or Pryor should be a Bill by the time Allen comes back. What have we got to lose?
#2 pick in next years draft

Not necessarily as you get Cooper on rookie deal for 1.5 years, and if the manage the cap well, they will have space if Cooper is good. He’s fast decent size and seems to be over the dropsies just as Jones has for us. We can still draft a WR. In second round, and now have a better team.
Maybe Dallas is desperate enough to give us something for Benjamin.
The issue is the following: Does he want to be in WNY? Does his agent want him there? Is he a family guy or rock star single rich NFL guy? These are massive questions. $$ being equal, FAs historically don't want to be in this place or this organization. The list is a long one. Fine, go after him, but only if you can sign him to at least another year. Trading a precious 2 next year for a guy with a big cap hit in his 5th/option year, if he's likely to walk after next year is just foolish for a rebuilding team. This team needs all its picks, as draft picks are stuck in WNY for at least 4 - 5 years.

Yeah like trading a third for Benjamin mid season. Very anti-Process.
yeah, they learned their lesson there for sure. I do not expect them to extend him past this season, nor do not expect a repeat performance.

Cooper is something I would like to have happen too... but either one would be a huge upgrade at a position of need. They aren’t getting a good WR to sign here in FA and they need to add a vet somehow.
Cooper but would just be a 1 year rental until his contract expires after 2019, then he is gone. Just as LA was crazy to trade for Watkins, who stayed for just the last year of his rookie deal. Go draft some top guys or get guys in FA who actually can be signed to longer term deals who actually want to be here. I want guys who will stay long enough to see this thing play out.
Sorry, WR problem not getting solved for this season. Trust the Process.

Teddy Bridgewater
the Jets bailed on him pretty quickly. just saying. must be something wrong there.

how is it we play 5 out of first 7 on the road? I see Bills are still the homecoming game opponent of the NFL.

Money wouldn’t have been an issue at all in adding Bridgewater. They wanted to keep the path clear for their 1st round guy. They bungled the situation and there really is no way around it.
well, we'll see ... its a 16 game season. I'm in the rip-the-bandaid off camp with a top 4 QB pick// you play him, hell or high water. I'm ok with Allen sitting a couple games.

Teddy was a 1 year 6M contract. How is that going back into any Cap hell again?
assuming they are right up against the cap right now, signing Teddy at 6 perhaps would have meant no other FA signings this year , which would have been unacceptable is my guess. McCarron wasn't that much, and when he washed out they didn't even want to keep his lower number.
I really don't know, but if they are as tight against the cap as we've been lead to believe , I would wager 6m is more than they've put out this year to all of their FA signings
-
Whatever. Allen's the guy. McCarron was bad in camp and preseason. Allen goes down, you're f d. Got it. No one has a #1 QB for a backup, unless they are paying starter $ for him, and cap hell is what McBeanes are trying to stay out of, not go straight back into with Teddy , et al.
For example, Jimmy G. goes down, 49ers are f'd. So, did the 49ers mismanage the most important position in pro sports Mr. King? Until Jimmy G. went down, 49ers were praised for killing it at the QB position-- hell they gambled on Jimmy G. last year and won, and were named heroes. Now they're f'd and look stupid rolling out Beathard (who slung it pretty good last night). It's how it goes with the "most important position in sports". Next.
McBeanes don't give a cr-p what King says. They'll go with Nate (BTW, not many guys can come off the bench and throw that TD ball to Jones) and go from there. Allen's the guy. In fact, this actually works out well as Allen could probably use a couple games watching on the sidelines.
They had to rip the bandaid off and get Allen in there. So far, so good. He hasn't gotten killed yet. Couple weeks watching probably good. Trust the Process.

Goodwin has also put up a massive 54 yards in 3 games.
Hogan has Brady and he can make any receiver inflate their numbers.
I'll give Woods the benefit here but we weren't going to be able to resign him IMO so you can't fault the FO for not retaining him.
yep. hogan played hiding a busted hand , couldn't catch anything and was let go; Watkins was never on the field and wanted #1 $$, so no good there either; Goodwin was just screwing around with football and was let go; Woods agent never even talked to the Bills, so that one was baked as well. I put no faith in the Whaley/Rex era, they were the hot garbage...

Why do people keep asking this question? Beane told them it would take TWO seasons to fix the cap situation. You people act like THIS IS the offense they sought out and built. Geezus, Beane was here ONE draft. Our rookie QB has nothing to work with, was ALWAYS going to take time to develop.
The D is playing outstanding, they already built it back up. Next 2 years will be about building the offense and balancing the team.
All you instant gratification people freaking out are out of touch with the reality of what they are doing. Will they succeed, maybe or maybe not. The only thing for CERTAIN is you won’t know this week, next week,, the week after, etc. It’s going to take a couple years.
So maybe there should be a therapy section on this board where people can go calm them nerves for the rest of the this season which will be rough on offense cuz it’s devoid of talent and has a rookie QB learning in harsh conditions.
All correct. Run game , Defense rebuilt and cap space relief all happening right now and on schedule. QB is in place. all is well

Only saw highlights and box score; looks like D and run game was solid, just got beat by a couple huge turnovers, which would wreck just about any team without a GOAT QB. Allen was going pretty well until hurt it seems. Looks like this roster can go on the road and compete. Good. Trust the Process. Move on.

McBeanes just want their kind of players. I don't believe they really care about their histories. Why should that matter? If the guy fits what they are looking to do and have , he fits.

I agree with this, and I would doubt we see any of those guys the OP mentioned. I don’t hate the list I just don’t think they’ll be targets.
Let’s not forget it is October right?
How many injuries from now until end of season (possibly deal breakers for the players mentioned) and there will be a ton more cap casualties when the season ends.
The upcoming free agent class looks pretty sad overall and weak, but once cuts are done for teams already to the cap I expect a lot more talent to jump into that free agent pool.
I can never get too amped up over this stuff so early in the season.
With 7 picks in the first 5 rounds next year and 10 picks overall, plus $70m in cap space , the Bills will be just fine adding 10+ quality players for next year. Trust the Process.

Shady is amazing. Please don't trade him. Ride that horse.

I doubt it. We’lol most likely resign those getting close to a new contract like T White, then pay a couple of lineman in free agency. I have a feeling we’ll go through the draft for WR.
Short term fixes aren't the McBeanes style. If they trade for a guy in last year of contract they really like , they'll sign him longer term before doing it. If the guy is a FA, then a short term deal would work as well (but which a top player won't go for). Either way I think you end up with multiple year deals.
This team will largely be built with the draft and trying to resign their best FAs , not massive FA deals. Plus the big name FAs will largely go to the bigger markets assuming the $$ is equal. WNY is just not an attractive place for a rock star pro athlete, unless he is a Kyle Williams family type guy. For example , they should extend T White next year , as once his rookie contract is up, his agent will try to get him to leave.

Lawson has gone through a few coaching changes and coordinators. I'm sure to some degree this affected his play. That being said, it's time for him to show his potential
yep, Rex tried his best to ruin his career and almost got there, fortunately the trickeration Rex defense is gone and an attacking defense is in. as Shaq says , just go be "dogs" and attack. most of these young kids its all they know, so go with it. its just football. trust the McBeanes. added Taron Johnson in the 3rd round, plus now the two Phillipses; trust it.. these guys know what they are doing... 8&8 out

fair to say WR will be addressed with FAs and via the draft in the offseason. not getting much in-season. is what it is. Woods, Sammy wanted out no matter what we did. let it go. trust it.

Bills probably get killed in embarrassing fashion Monday night.
I consider this one long preseason/tryout camp and frankly, haven't watched a game yet.
Definitely not watching this coming Monday's game. What a sh-t show that will be.
Have to Trust the Process.
McBeanes are making good moves. Once they get out of cap jail + 10 picks, they will turn the corner next year, IMHO.
