Edmunds is a very polarizing figure on these boards. He’s made the Pro Bowl 2 out his 3 years in the league but yet a lot of you say he’s terrible and want to run him out of town. I don’t get it. I hope we do offer him a contract

I would need to understand exactly what his role is in the defense before judging him.   I am thinking the front 6 is more of a gap integrity, manage your gap and then go to the ball type of approach,  rather than keep the LBs clean so they can make all the tackles.   I might be wrong.   Has any one actually studied how McD plays defense?   It's not a "star maker" defense, it's kind of a 1/11th "control your gap/play zone behind it" approach to it isn't it?

What is up with this?  It's Thursday and that's not a choice I can select yet.

    Did Gamepass discontinue it?

That's the primary reason I subscribe to Gamepass

If they don't release Coaches Film any more, is there a way I can get a refund?

Miami 27 Bills 17.  Hope I’m wrong.  This is revenge game for Dolphins.  Bills seem off and not sure they’re ready for another team who’s been circling this game since January.

agreed.   Bills O Line gets mowed by the largest D Line in the league and their DBs keep everything in front of them.   if BD has brains enough to run at them , we'll be ok, but he will force the empty backfield offense again.  Still think Bills go on a run thereafter, tho.

Another bit of history that might actually be on the Bills' side, the 84 49ers went 15-1 and won the SuperBowl.  Their only loss during the season: at home to the Steelers.  Also, both times the Ravens won the SuperBowl, they lost at home to the Steelers earlier those seasons.

In conclusion, maybe some teams just need a home lost the the Steelers before kicking it into gear and winning it all.

now there's a positive take.  nice.

That was the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who lost to the New Orleans Saints in their season OPENER at home.

Nine other teams have lost their season openers but went on to win the SB. All of those losses were on the road.

Point is, history is not on the Bills side when it comes to going on and winning the SB after their opening home loss to Pittsburgh.

    What do you think?

I see this roster as very competitive and will get to the playoffs, but KC or Tampa's defense would stop the bills offense cold.   Bills have no answer up front for the Chris Jones's and really stout front 7s of rhe NFL.    Not yet.

I mean, I try not too anyways.

What I like now is the assurance that this team will be highly competitive in every game they play.  For so long, there were 6 or 7 games you just knew were losses.  Games now can go either way based on turnovers, injuries , whatever, but this roster is 110% competitive for the first time .  So lets go play the games and enjoy them, win or lose.   Don't get so invested in the result.   Celebrate the successes, recognize that losses will absolutely happen.  Its a long season.

Particularly now that the Bills are a good team, I find myself participating much less frequently on the board during the week after a loss.  I lurk but post much less.  The threads get ridiculous (well, even more ridiculous) and it's exhausting.  Is it just me?

I come nowhere near.  Most Bills fans are a-way too invested in the team, self identifying with the ups and downs.   I believe the profession calls it "reflected glory" syndrome or something like that.   Losses generate all kinds of hate , etc.   So, yeah, stay away until they cool off and realize there is more to life than how the freakin bills did last week.   Having said that, Go freakin Bills.

Sanders isn’t a burner anymore, but he still can separate very well and he should be productive here.  It surprised me that the Bills did not make getting a deep threat a priority.  But on the other hand losing Brown last season didn’t seem to hurt the passing game so maybe separation is what works with Allen and this offense.  A deep threat is always helpful for an offense but maybe it’s not as important for this one.  I dunno. We shall see.

so it seems...  we don't bust that Seattle game open last year without that John Brown speed , not sure I see a guy like that on today's roster.

  9. Anyone concerned that John Brown's ability to keep safeties deep was lost when E Sanders replaced him?

Anyone have their relative 40 times?    I don't recall Sanders being a burner.   Hope I am wrong..

Concerned we have a great, but less fast WR group, and secondaries will accordingly play tighter to the line of scrimmage.

Not at all and it has more to do with logistics than the usual cold-weather weather excuse (though that probably does effect things too)

The biggest issue is that the Orchard Park/Buffalo area probably couldn’t handle the amount of Super Bowl visitors. Even, if they could the accommodations wouldn’t be very good.   Buffalo is not meant to host an event like the Super Bowl in any way

ah heck, have it there anyway... new stadiums get SBs.  period.   make it so Mr. WNY Commissioner

Who cares about a teams backup?? No coach wants to leave theirs teams destiny in the hands of a backup.

    So...

Yeah, kind of a useless discussion.  Watch out for the Pats, Mac Jones has looked very good with the starters and McDaniels will coach him up well.

I know everyone is expecting a SB, but Pats will be a very different team than the Bills saw last year.   Jets will be better, Phins will be tough,.   Nothing is a given in the NFL.  They will need to compete for every win they get this year.  Go Bills.

  12. McKenzie.  Stevenson to PS.  Thats my guess.  He cannot be given a spot on the 53 at WR as that means you're cutting Kumerow.  In a 17 +2 or 3 game season, at least two WRs will be down for multiple games in all likelihood.   The way the Bills throw it, they will need 7 roster WR + 2 PS to get through a 20 game season.   MS will get his shot.

Kumerow is too important on ST.   McD plays "field position" defense (pin 'em deep on punts and kickoffs with great, great ST play and then make 'em go the length of the field).   This is why Bam and JK and T Jones are so important-- they are actually part of the defensive approach of the team.

Also plays into why LBs are not really run stoppers but great cover guys, its all about gap integrity and keeping the game in front of you.   Drives typical knucklehead fans crazy when teams are ripping off 10 yard runs between the 30s, but it works in the long run.   Everyone bashes Edmunds, but he is just doing his job.  He was not drafted to be a dick butkus downhill banger , but moreso a gap filler tackler, and flexible side to side cover guy.   Its total team defense.   Frustrating for the 3 and out crowd, but it works.   and super strong special teams is a key to it working, by lengthening the field.  just my view

  13. Bills look very competitive this year for sure.   Let's see how they do once the lights come on.   A rash of injuries to key players can trash a season pretty quickly..   Heck, a bunch of key players could still be unvaccinated (Josh, others) and go down with Covid for 2-3 games, that could cost you a couple games (maybe even playoff games)  right there.

Last year is over; they absolutely look great, but hey, let's go play a few regular season games.   Then you'll know what you have.   and then you still won't know what you have as Covid could take out some unvaccinated key guys at any time.

     go bills.
