Groot runs by him too high on his rush and Epenesa weakly slaps at him as he runs past him - nice to see all his weight training paying off on the field. Is there a player on this defense that knows how to actually tackle and not just try to grab guys high. All you are going to get is broken arm tackles.

That description from Palmer about his own experience during practice trying to throw also explains some of the quizzical looks Allen has had after some poor throws, like, "what the hell was that?"... I was thinking that he was just trying to take too much off his balls to make catches easier, but the lack of velocity on some of those throws now makes a bit more sense.

Well, flushed out of the pocket due to shoddy pass pro... Throwing a wet ball on the run 40 yards in a downpour of rain and sleet to a WR he has had little time to practice with.... I think we can be a bit forgiving on that one.

Considering how slowly this org brought Gabe along, I get the sense they prefer veteran receiving targets. Reading defenses, being in the right place, and knowing your assignments each play seem to be valued over raw talent. Probably why McKenzie always seems to be on the bubble each year although the fans generally have supported him. Shakir may have a lot of promise, but I thought it was a long shot he would see a lot of snaps and playing time this year.

This is certainly a possibility. He knows our system and can read defenses so that is half the battle, but who knows if that will translate to production on the field? We will see if he gets elevated from the PS, and see from there if he has enough left in the tank to help this offense.

Folks know where I stand with running in bad weather games... going to go with Motor, but would love it if Cook can break a long one or two. On defense... going to go with Jones having a other great game.

Also, cannot stress enough how often Allen has to reset in the pocket to avoid quick pressures we keep leaking. I know Allen tries to keep his eyes downfield, but there are going to be plenty of times he is going to have to check the rush and slide around to escape or buy time. Open windows in coverage will often close before he is able to reset to get a pass off and that means off-schedule scramble drill passes. Of course there are times Allen just prefers to go long and ignores the easy check down stuff in front of the sticks. He is the anti-Trent Edwards.
