Millions of people still read his MMQB (now FMIA) column every Monday morning, including me. He has connections and gets quotes that few others in the world of football journalism can. Unless and until either of those things change, I don't see any reason why he should call it a career.

ya. i haven't read him in years. He was always corny, but always worth a read because he had such great connections. if that is still the case, no reason for him to go anywhere.

That's a really big "no."  Rich/The Ralph/New Era/Highmark is unbelievably outdated.  Recent renovations are the definition of slapping lipstick on a pig.

Sightlines from every seat are awesome, but in this day and age people are doing more than just going to the stadium to watch the game.

Those were not full scale renovations like the ones done in Green Bay, KC, and Chicago.

Whenever the weather thing comes up I think it tends to get overblown.  The Bills played two playoff games last jan in OP and the Colts game was 30 and sunny with little wind and the Ravens came was a bit more breezy but the weather wasnt a factor.  I didnt pick up a snow shovel last year until the day after Christmas and i really dont remember WNY getting much snow in Jan either.  There is always a chance for horrible weather in WNY in late fall/winter but.... those instances seem like they are getting really few and far between.  I dont know if you look back over the past 10 years very few home games have been impacted by the weather imo.

this is not true. our passing game never had a chance to get started with that "breeze."

if we are going to stay open air in OP, shouldn't we just renovate and save the tax payers several hundred millions of dollars?

  4. I'm glad he came out. It's something that needed to happen just to get it over with. that said, this barely even registers with me at this point, and that's a good thing, right?

It's probably a bigger deal to people who actually play football. especially closeted gays who actually play football. But I don't think society really cares.

obviously there are always gonna be haters out there. let's not try to pretend they are a representation of society as a whole.

The next step is to get a mega star to come out as gay, and then we can be done with this and never have to do the coming out thing again.

Just because it differs from yours doesn't make it wrong. It's just a perception.

Objectively, I doubt there's been any conclusive research done that would make either of us know whether we're right or wrong.

    good post.

Did Beasley buck so hard against the stringent Covid protocols put in place for last season?

the difference between this year and last year is that last year the football players were basically following the same rules as the rest of the country. This year, it appears that most of the country is very close to being back to normal, while football players are still living under the same rules as last year.

Yeah, that's what many said about an open-air stadium too.

One could argue that having a strong-armed QB gives you an advantage in inclement weather. Regardless, you don't build a stadium around 1 player. Seattle's partially enclosed Lumen Field should be the model.

if it's closed enough to kill the wind, great. but no, a strong armed qb has a passing game built around them. a passing game doesn't work in garbage weather. it doesn't work for anybody. you run the risk of giving an advantage to teams built like the ravens, if they have an even slightly competent passing game.

Marino was maybe a better passer, but he sure as hell wasn’t a better QB.

I think this is where I stand, but I am 39 years old, so watched them as a pre teen and teen. Marino definitely seems to have the edge in skills. But I didn't know what I was watching enough to look at different intangibles, decision making, leadership, etc.

  8. ok got it. I'm not around enough to sniff out some of the troublemakers here.

I thought it was an interesting topic with some thoughtful posts. would be nice to just freeze or ban posters who are not contributing with good intentions, while also deleting posts that do not further the conversation.

There’s a very good chance that Allen will be an alumni when you first sit down in a new stadium. OJ was the star when Rich Stadium opened. He played there for five years and the Bills have been there for another four decades.

if we play our cards right and allen turns out, we have him another 15 years. stadium should be up in 5. obviously, it's imperative that we move on it as quickly as possible.
