  1. Does EJ have a 5th year option? Like RG3 did? Just curious as that may play into whether we keep, or make him more viable in a trade. I don't know so asking the question here.
  2. No I think both offer value. The point was that everyone thinks cutting Cassel saves 5 million. It doesn't and the cost difference is minimal on cutting or trading either. My point was the money/cap space argument is a stupid one for keeping one over the other.
  3. Just to make sure things are clear and accurate. Cassel already earned a 500K bonus. That's his, it counts against the cap. If we cut/trade him he would count as a 4.15 million dollar savings. EJ Manual if traded would save 1.2 million this year and 1.6 next year. That's a savings of 2.8 million. On top of that is EJ is cut and then signed by another team, EJ doesn't double dip. Any contract from another team would reduce the Bills outlay and also their cap hit. So the difference is only 1.35 million and wouldn't be a deciding factor. The rumor is the front office want to keep EJ, the coaches want Cassel. Just like Whaley wanted Ej to start, and Pegs wanted Fred to stay, I think in the end the coaches probably win the battle. EJ showed a lot in pre-season and got a lot better. Still has to show more consistency and ability to run the offense for a full 60 minutes.
  4. I don't know, 2 AFC Championships with more weapons and a better defense than that Jets team. I will take that. I think this roster with TT as the QB comes out ahead in one of them, and we see the Super Bowl again. I mean come on, the guy took the Sanchez led Jets to the AFC championship.
  5. Not really, I knew that but to add that in there was a little disingenuous on your part.
  6. He went to two AFC championships with Sanchez. That to me says he knows what he is doing with a QB
  7. Also Skurski pretty much got the same answers from EJ yesterday. Didn't know if he'd be on team. Said it's out of his control. So, this is the second time EJ at least that we know where EJ sees some writing that he maybe gone soon. http://bills.buffalonews.com/2015/08/31/ej-manuel-on-his-future-in-buffalo-im-still-on-the-team-thus-far/
  8. Kelly Thurman Bruce Sestek Kemp James Tally Reed Tasker OJ Cookie DeLamielleure Saimes There are many ahead of Fred. Fred was our 2nd string RB basically for 10 years. Did the hard work and was a good guy, but give it a rest.
  9. http://bills.buffalonews.com/2015/08/31/ej-manuel-on-his-future-in-buffalo-im-still-on-the-team-thus-far/ With Monday's announcement from coach Rex Ryan that Tyrod Taylor will be the Buffalo Bills' starting quarterback, it's fair to wonder what will happen with the other two players who were competing for that job. One of them, third-year pro EJ Manuel, is wondering just the same. "I'm still on the team thus far, so just continue to work and we'll see what happens," Manuel said Monday after practice when asked what he thought his future with the Bills might be. Asked whether he expects to be with the Bills beyond this week, after the team cuts down to it's 53-man roster, Manuel said "I think so." As to whether he wants to be, he said "I think that's out of my control. For me, like I said, I just want to continue to work hard and get better."
  10. Well looks like jw was right and EJ isn't the starter. Seems like some folks owe him an apology. Looks like when they talked EJ knew as well and maybe why he seemed like something else maybe his only option.
  11. Again, I would think they put Cassel and EJ on trade wire and see what they can get. But right now who knows. Again, my thought is one (likely EJ) would get traded with other staying (maybe). I also think/thought both could be gone and a backup closer to TT's style would be brought in.
  12. I'd be shocked. We gave up a 5th and a 7th in a trade for him. Maybe a trade to get something, even a 7th back. But with no veteran on team, it just wouldn't make sense.
  13. With our defense. EJ is easy to defend. Blitz him and keep a deep safety. Make him try to beat you by throwing underneath which he still hasn't shown he can do. He has a pretty long ball, but give him little time, take away the deep patterns and you can stick a fork in him. I suspect a trade for EJ will happen before Friday as a team will want to get him on the field for a few series just to get him acclimated to their offense.
  14. I suspect it will be close to what the 49ers did with Kap. He wasn't a great QB, bu with the Roman poption, it was a nice hybrid. I suspect we'll be close to that. TT can hurt you from pocket as he has a good arm, plus can take off if you don't respect it. But at same time give him a short/long option to one side and he'll kill you as he's faster than Kap, plus can make that throw.
  15. I think the second string QB isn't even on the roster. EJ likely traded and can't run an option offense and Cassel can't run the option offense.
  16. As a long term vet, Fred doesn't have to clear waivers. He's a free man now. If he was in such high demand, someone would have signed him already.
  17. EJ's new team right? Too many people seemed to be tied up into rooting for EJ and what was best for the team.
  18. Fred's slow and got caught by two guys after having a 10 yard head start on a 40 yard run. It was over for him on that play. Great as it was and he's got beautiful vision, but no speed and as he gets nicked more during the season he's only going to slow down more.
  19. It can't get worse. 15 years of no playoffs, a RB who was a fan favorite but really was always the number 2/3 guy on roster, and a new and exciting QB who can throw and run.
  20. So you're not a Bills fan, you're an EJ fan. Good luck with that. Pat*** like fans like you.
