My take after some research on Byrd
BillnutinHouston replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That is understood but my fear is once a second tag is on, the Bills leverage in trade talks diminishes. I'm not sure if my fear is well founded or not. -
My take after some research on Byrd
BillnutinHouston replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do you mean that based on available cap room, or based on the Bills' history of spending under the cap? If the Bills decide to tag him again, my question to the front office is, what exactly are you trying to build here? Surely you don't think you're going to the Super Bowl next year so what's the point other than keeping Byrd for another year for "entertainment purposes" for the fans? -
Trick plays from Bills offense

Yea, I get your point. In a sense that is a gadget play because a lot of times it smelled of desperation. -
An alternative to the Bills in Toronto series
BillnutinHouston replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I never discussed Stevie dropping anything in RWS. What I said was, Stevie's fumble in TO directly resulted in the Bills losing. How is this debatable? The greatest comeback game was not sold out. That was a solid team with legitimate playoff aspirations - but they were playing in front of a spolied fanbase. I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, or disagree. Just expressing the opinion that many fans want/expect everything on their terms: prices, location and wins. And rather than lifting a finger to support what the Bills are trying to do to improve their bottom-tier market, these fans choose to bash the series, blame losses on it (even when one play snatches defeat from the jaws of victory) and claim that winning will cure the WNY market's financial challenges. This group prefers to keep their fingers crossed hoping the next ownership group isn't financially savvy - they'd rather whistle past the graveyard and expect the NFL to stay in Buffalo out of mere nostalgia. Looking forward to the next ownership group, I happen to find that way of thinking wrong and dangerous. -

Gee, thanks for taking this burden from us. I feel much better knowing you got this. -
I can't remember a single gadget play being run by the Bills this year (not counting Goodwin or Graham end arounds). Curious to know if any of you remember any, or if you remember any comments from Marrone or Hackett discussing their philosophy on using these. I was expecting at least some, particularly in the later games, and was surprised to not see any.

An alternative to the Bills in Toronto series

Please don't mistake my physical location with my being a Houstonian in any sense, especially a Houston fan. I was born and raised a WNYer, and I'm a current Bills season ticket and club seat holder. The challenges of being a long range financial supporter of the Bills are many, and they are what make me so ardently opposed to the whiny and entitled-sounding Bills fans that often populate this forum. -

Tell that to the people who couldn't watch the Greatest Comeback because the game was blacked out. We each have our own opinions on that. If it bothers you so much, change it. "See the Toronto crowd, BE the Toronto crowd." -

If the game was played in Buffalo, this, that, and the other thing MIGHT have happened. Is that not speculative? -

Why should the Bills be perennially stuck with bargain basement ticket prices with no opportunity to expand revenues? -

Silly me, I thought if Stevie didn't fumble we would have won. Exactly why it would be nice for Bills fans to pack the Rogers Center. -

I agree completely, but surely Bills fans have some responsibility in this, no? Why don't more Bills fans buy those tickets and MAKE it a home game if it's so important? Here's what I hear from Bills fans: - win more games - acquire high priced free agents and big name coaches - keep ticket prices among the lowest in the league - don't worry about expanding your market, just keep the status quo at all cost (I.e., just keep playing in my backyard) - no, I won't go to Toronto to support my team - the next owner BETTER keep the team here, because we're the best fans in the NFL. -

Since you choose to make the sweeping general statement that we can't win there, I presume you mean that Stevie fumbled because we played north of the border. I choose to not buy into that logic, because it's clear to me that that fumble was pivotal to the outcome of that game. Any other analysis is driven by emotion rather than logic. -

Joke all you like, but regionalization is essential if there's going to even BE a Buffalo Bills under the next owner. -
This is crushing news. Not sure whether I'm more disappointed about Crossman specifically, or over what this means about Marrone''s real prospects for succeeding long term.

Bills to meet with Rogers Communications

So, are you saying that if Stevie hadn't fumbled, we still would have found a way to lose because, obviously, the location of the game was much more determinative than the fumble? -
Welcome to the Ralph - Slam Dunk Competition
BillnutinHouston replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, thus a big hit on the boards (pardon the pun) and in the parking lots. Marginally cute among friends in a locker room, but coming up from behind like that is not exactly a serious display of dominance. -
Trade Byrd and a 3rd for another 1st?
BillnutinHouston replied to dayman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clearly his game as a free safety is field coverage and interceptions, not big hits. Think Steve Freeman and Mark Kelso. -
Playoff games having trouble Selling Out

Personally, I believe the commitment is there. It's the execution that's lacking. Sounds like you're accidentally referring to how the Packers used to play in Milwaukee. -
Sticking With a QB Too Long
BillnutinHouston replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is correct. Rarely is a starter SO consistently bad that the task of evaluation is easy. I know of several Bills QBs that I thought played well in short stretches, and those stretches gave me hope that the future progression would continue. I have to look no further than the Fitz an Edwards jerseys in my closet to validate this. -

Buddy! Calling out Buddy The Wonder Dog!

Why, exactly? I love this team because they're in my blood, but I can't say I'm proud of them. -
Right on.
