What’s funny is listening to the live broadcasts and esp with Romo or Brady announcing, they could prob get 90% of the calls right.
Things like:
”they have to pass here because they don’t want to burn a TO”
”He definitely only had one foot in bounds”
etc, etc….
They could have an 18yo watching the live broadcast relaying the important commentary to the coach and probably improve considerably.
To Logic’s point - it’s an issue league wide.
I agree with your premise that no one thought we were going to have an undefeated season. There are a ton of fans and media that looked at this year as rebuilding given the players we lost.
The Defense can improve with better play, scheming, rotating in other players possibly, but the one area of concern that is valid is McDermott’s coaching decisions. It is absolutely irrefutable that he has consistently made some head scratching calls - especially in critical moments. The troubling part is that he seems to not learn from his previous mistakes.
The real hope is that we go on a heater come play off time and McD is not put in a position where one of his calls is critical to the outcome of the game. It can happen.
I agree and hope we stay #2. Steelers play the Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals. Every single one of those games is going to be a street fight. Guarantee they are going to be haggard heading into the playoffs.
I think a lot of the playoff games will be a track meet. Last team with the ball and score wins. Today, we lost the track meet. Lots of people wanted this, i.e., just get Allen more weapons and focus on offense.
Unfortunately, no way we are firing Smiley this late in the season and switching ST coordinator.
Put it on the list for next year (along with monster 1T DT).
There were a few of us shouting for a dominant 1 technique DT while others wanted safety and WR.
I’d say it’s pretty obvious that’s what we need. The book is out on us.
Having said that, not sure we could have traded to get that. Need one in the offseason though.
He’s a tweeter for sure. He runs a 4.3, smart as hell, and a great kid, but he’s only about 6’ and 200#. Could see him as a ST and then work on another position…prob WR.
Yes, he ran over 1k in 2022. He’s become a better passer, but not sure he’s next level passer. Has looked great this year though, so you never know. He can pass in the cold though 😂
Agree with you - love watching these kids from FCS make it 👊
Yeah, But Tommy Mellott crushes him. Montana State University QB….22 TDs (68%), 1 INT, 11 rushing TD’s

Just had a career day today.
(Full disclosure, I’m an MSU fan 😁)
