Sam Darnold not throwing at combine
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't like this. I wonder if there are other guys not throwing. I think if he is the only one, it looks bad. -
http://www.spotrac.com/research/NFL/100-potential-2018-nfl-cap-casualties-714/ I thought this was a pretty good resource to see some of the names we could expect to be released over the next few months. With Beane possibly playing the comp pick game, these names could be possible targets if cut. Some names on the list have already been cut. There are a number of names on this list that likely will not get cut, but it is still really interesting to look at the dead money cap implications in one place. I'm still holding out hope for Robert Quinn at some point this offseason.

2016 Sports Illustrated article on Josh Rosen
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for sharing. That's a good article where Trent Dilfer explains Rosen pretty well. He is high maintenance in that he expects everyone to work as hard as him, coaches, players etc. He and Dilfer butted heads, but its really two alpha males kind of clashing. I love this guy and think he has what it takes. I can't believe that people would question his work ethic when he could technically be doing anything besides putting his life on the line. I still think there are going to be teams at the combine who won't like how he interviews, but I do think he is the cerebral, hard working type that our front office is looking for. -
I know we always make fun of the people who want to sign released players all of the time, but this makes sense. It's an area of need and a guy who played very little last year. The revelation of TJ Yeldon and having Fournette buried Ivory. He is older, but should be fresh. He also played for our RB coach. Beane came out and said he would be mindful of the comp pick formula. Signing released players is how you fill out your roster without sacrificing future comp picks. I think we will continue to see Beane jump all over these types of players.

I love Josh Rosen. He is the prototype, high potential quarterback we have been searching for all of this time. The guy was pretty much bred to be a quarterback with a great release, arm strength, and football IQ. 5 star high school recruit. He is also very intelligent. I honestly think his floor is Eli Manning. Some drawbacks are that he is a bit skinny and needs to add ten pounds. He also has opinions, which the blue collar types don't like (this doesn't bother me but it rubs some people the wrong way). He has had injury issues. He also looks like the guy from "I Love you Beth Cooper."

Panthers releasing S Kurt Coleman, DE Charles Johnson
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Realistically I could see that happening after this upcoming season, but who knows? There is a potential out in the contract after 2018 where the dead money isn't bad. -

I'm just saying with Beane saying he was going to play the comp pick game, signing released players is the best way to make that work. The Patriots have been doing it for years. This is true with the Davis signing as well. -

Would not count towards comp formula as well! -

I wouldn't mind playing three safeties in the nickel, especially because Hyde and Poyer are former corners. Even though they have Baker, and the Honey Badger, I could see Coleman following Wilks to Arizona to help their defensive transition. -
Should the Bills re-sign Seantrel Henderson?

Man what happened to this thread? Next thing you know we will be talking about Mason Rudolph or Tyrod Taylor. -
Should the Bills re-sign Seantrel Henderson?
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Playing Mills over Henderson is such a head scratcher for me. I believe in this coaching staff, but I take issue with the amount of playing time that went to Ducasse, Mills, and Tolbert. I just don't understand what they saw in those guys. When Henderson came in for a handful of plays I thought he looked pretty good and I think he is a good enough prospect to hold on to. I do really like the potential of Conor McDermott though. -
I like Jeremiah's insight as well because he was a starting college quarterback. Between that and his scouting background, he is one of my favorite guys to listen to. Louis Riddick is also a former player, scout, and was a director of pro personnel. I like listening to Mayock, but I think Riddick and Jeramiah's insight hold the most weight.

My guess is they have their sights set on Rosen, Darnold, or Allen. I'm guessing Rosen. I think all of the rumors coming out could mean something. Usually it's the pre combine rumors that are closest to the truth. The next few months is all smokescreen stuff. I think draft boards and plans are pretty much set in motion at this point. I think the interviews are the most important part of the draft combine for most part. If they know they can land Rosen I could see them going with a crappy vet like Chad Henne or Matt Moore to be there in case they need someone to start the first four games. If we see them sign a younger guy like Bridegewater or McCarron, I think they pass on drafting a guy high. If they trade for Nick Foles, he also become the guy. I could also see Sam Bradford as a possibility and he would likely become the guy as well.

100 percent! It's weird. I've been thinking how the Bills have been in a tough spot for a long time as a perpetually middle of the pack team, 8-8, 7-9 etc. The Rams are a team that has been awful for a while and stacked with really high picks. This is the other side of it as all this those top picks eventually become super expensive. They finally had a good year and they aren't going to be able to keep the team together. Sucks.

“Rested” Gary Barnidge ready to roll
MrEpsYtown replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I think he is a greaT fit as is Charles Clay. -
They do use their tight ends as H back types, but their true fullback is usually a blocker. James Develin, their fullback for the past four years has 19 career catches for 161 yards and zero touchdowns. DiMarco has 44 catches for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

Interesting idea in this CBS.com Mock
MrEpsYtown replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think he certainly has better film than EJ. He doesn't have the physical upside that EJ did. Obviously he failed, but he was overdrafted and was really a third or fourth round pick. EJ had much higher potential with a lower floor. Rudolph is very average to below average physically but has some good college tape. If you want a solid backup he's your guy. If you want a possible high upside starter he is not. We we need a true franchise quarterback and that is why this guy just doesn't move the needle imo.
