  1. Bill Teerlink only has the job because his dad was a legend. I'd like to see a more experienced coach working with these guys. Promoting from within after Miek Waufle retired seemed lazy and short sighted. The defensive line should be better than they are. I don't feel Teerlink is getting teh job done.

If Dan Quinn gets fired in Atlanta, I'd love to see if he'd come here to be a D-line coach and Assistant head coach, or even replace Leslie Frazier. He and Sean McDermott go way back to William and Mary days.

  2. Foster is just such an interesting case. Obviously there have been many UDFA success stories in the NFL in the past. But typically those are guys who were very successful college players who get overlooked for some reason by the NFL wether it be speed, level of competition, whatever. Foster is the opposite, a big time recruit, a guy who did very little in his college career, went undrafted, and is putting up good numbers. He has more recieving yards this year than he had his entire college career. To me it is such an interesting case and I can't think of any others like it. Even Matt Cassel, who didn't even play in college much got drafted in the seventh round.

Said it last week and got flamed for it, I’d trade Zay for a mid-late round pick, if that’s even possible. He is a zero.

I gotta be honest, I am starting to lean this way.

When you look at statistics, guys like Jerry Rice, TO, Michael Irvin etc dropped a lot of passes. But they had all world talent that made up for it. It's fine to drop 3 or 4 balls when you are catching 7 and making all world plays.

Point being, Zay isn't good enough to drop the ball. He doesn't offer the speed and playmaking ability or upside those guys did, or even Foster or McKenzie do. You don't live with drops from a guy like Zay.

  4. He's the perfect backup to have. I'd extend him now if possible, but it makes sense for him to wait and see if another team will give him a chance to be a bridge guy, or compete for a starting job (ala AJ McCarron this year). I think he has been a huge positive, and from all accounts he is a great guy who is a man of faith and you know how much McDermott loves those. He seems like a good guy to have around for Josh.

I'm not sure either of these guys is the true #1 TE. James can't even beat out Vance MCDonald and Williams has been hurt a lot.

I think it is about opportunity. I don't think we need a true number 1. We need guys who can block and catch and complement the offense. Right now we have an H-back guy with no knee, a guy who can't block, and a former quarterback. Bringing in actual real tight ends would make a world of difference in my opinion.

It's the same as the #1 receiver thing.

Ive always wondered about coaches and their fits with the teams they are on....Gregg Williams seems to be a perfect fit for the Browns...a young brash team led by a young brash QB that is aggressive in all phases of the game...

Do you think its possible that some coaches would have a lot or success with some teams and not much with others based on the team disposition?  Or maybe Williams has learned from previous mistakes...

Either way he is doing a very nice job in Cleveland right now...

He's an a-hole, so is Baker. The Browns could use some of that after years of being soft. I think it's a great fit.

  7. This is an overrated concept. We've had a true number one many times in the past, and it got us nowhere. I believe you need pieces on offense that are complementary to each other. We need a guy with some size and elite athleticism who can do a little bit of everything and make contested catches. That's what our team is missing.

  8. This guy is a playmaker on defense and would be a great replacement for Lorax. He can play on the line, offf the ball, and off the edge. He's a top ten talent for sure. He could be used like a Khalil Mack, as a SAM in base formations and an end in nickel and dime situations. If we stay in the top ten, we are drafting a defensive player.

Tackles and receivers are huge reaches that high in this draft and plugging holes is a terrible way to draft.

Chris Conley should def be a top target!

Fun fact: Conley logged a 45" vertical at the combine.  That's insane!

That's my guy. He also ran a 4.35 and is a really good dude and very smart. Process all the way.

...any reason to keep DiMarco around?....think he's been in the Witness Protection Program for st least 10 games in 2018......

His contract isn't a bid deal, as you could cut him anytime with minimal dead cap. I would sign a guy like Maxx Williams who doubles as a tight end and fullback so you free up a roster spot.

Schwartz was hired in Detroit after the 2008 0-16 season. In 2011 his third year as head coach, the Lions made it to the playoffs for the first time since 1999. The Lions went 4-12 and 7-9 the next two seasons and he was fired.

Schwartz wasn't the Head Coach of the 0-16 Lions. He took over following the 0-16 season with no talent on the roster and by year 3 they were 10-6 and a playoff team. The two years after that he lost control a little bit.

Thanks guys my bad. Was 0-16 Linehan? Why did Schwartz get pushed out? Suh acting like a maniac and such? I remember him throwing a challenge flag or something. I know he had a very negative reputation at that point in time.

  12. Demarcus Lawrence will get the franchise tag. I don't think Trey Flowers will though. There are rumblings they will use it on Gostkowski.

i think most of our cap goes to the o line, a tight end or two, and a receiver. The best think for a young quarterback is a veteran line. I think we add young talent to the defense in the draft.

Haha watch out. I'll admit I don't understand why we refuse to promote our coordinators that move on to HC jobs.. from Schwartz to Lynn to Pettine. We've had great coordinators teams covet for HC when we're looking for HCs. It's weird.

I think the Lynn situation required a total blow up and culture change. I think he's a good coach, but we needed a change. Continuity would not have been a good thing after Rex.  With Schwartz, the stink of the 0-16 season in Detroit had not worn off at that point in time. Pettine was never considered as HC here as he flamed out in Cleveland before our job was up for grabs again.
