Absolutely not but we are only 6 games into year #2. Why do you and so many others assume that because it hasn't been done yet it's because he doesn't know how?

I'm in no way saying he for sure can, I just can't believe how many people are already certain he can't.

I'd be with you if they were just bad. They are historically and laughably embarrassingly bad. That's why for me anyway. He also makes a lot of dumb game-time decisions.

I was hopeful at first. Then I was skeptical after this offseason's moves coupled with gameday decisions that McD made throughout his first season, but continued to think they need to get the offseason to bring their process full circle.

After this statement, I think I'm pretty much out.

I'm out too, but to be fair there was more to that quote where he said the league is a passing league now, but they aren't there yet (paraphrasing)

...seriously?...what the hell did I ever SPIN?......first "tank talk" inclusion is asinine...Cuban paid the NBA 600 grand for "tank talk".....STRIKE ONE......this offense is highly NON-COMPETITIVE  for numerous reasons....tell me where the hell or to whom I gave a pass for this woefulness......HINT: no where....a year or two in transition does NOT afford you any type of luxury as far as REASONABLE competitiveness IMO......BAD read of me on your part............

You said you will defer the confidence question, that is giving a pass to this coach/GM for this offense. I think it's a fireable offense. You are saying let's wait and see.

...certainly agree and I understand his approach......will once again (oh well) wear out my reference to the Steelers model....3 HC's in 48 years, Colbert as GM since 2000, non-meddling ownership who let football people run the show, keep/extend their own versus shelling out FA $$$, and have SIX Lombardis to show for it...2009 SB victory featured 19 out of their 22 STARTERS acquired via draft......McDermott owned the 2017 draft.....McBeane arrives and the two are together for the first time with 2018 draft.....2019 is year two which they certainly deserve.......with 10 picks and FA $$$, it should shed some serious light on this partnership and the future direction of this club long term........will defer the CONFIDENCE question until I see what they collectively together in year two accomplish with draft and FA moves....stay tuned..........

I don't care how much you're planning for the future. Even if you're openly tanking (and the only reason to do that would be for a generation QB prospect) your offense cannot ever be this bad, even if this was the 70s. This offense is unacceptable stop trying to spin it.

Yes, because firing the HC every 2 years and starting over is clearly the best way to win.

Is this sarcasm? If so, should we stick with the wrong coach for 4 years even though he doesn't know how to run or build an offense?

Which evidence would that be? How much time/effort has been put into the offense, while we're at it? How many picks vis-a-vis the defense? How about FA acquisitions?

how about an historically bad and embarrassing offense on the field?

I will agree, the offense was horrible today, but I believe it would absolutely be a mistake to blow up the team.  McBeane made the decision to try and find the QB of the future and find some lynchpin pieces to the defense.  That decision made it necessary to try and use bandaids to hold the rest of the offense together.  Mistake?  You can debate that.  Maybe Buffalo should have tried to build more of the support pieces into the offense better offensive linemen and receivers, and maybe had a little more youth at RB.  I don't think there is a clear answer yet.  The jury is still out on Allen.  I don't know if signing Derek Anderson will pan out, but I wasn't expecting an awful lot ten days after coming off the golf course.  I think maybe the losing is leading to the expectation of losing.  That makes it harder to overcome.  It is going to continue against New England next Monday night

BUT, I think McDermott knows how to coach and get his players to perform.  I think Beane will address the offense in a major way in the offseason.  I think Josh Allen is going to get a lot better next season.  And I think Brian Daboll can be a creative offensive coordinator when he has some talent and experience to work with.  Firing the coach in my thinking is a guarantee to continue nearly two decades of futility, and the biggest mistake Terry Pegula could make with this team right now.

They get blown out far too often. And now another one against a bad team. NYJ being the other.

...yup, you're right...keep churning the "turnstile to no where"....paid HUGE dividends during the "drought"......I hate the Steelers' "turnstile"....3 HC's in 48 years, Colbert as GM since 2000 and SIX Lombardis on the shelf.....what a woeful example...SMH..........

you are just changing the subject even though you might not realize it

.....how is it that the "fire everybody" yipsters typing from the safe confines under their desks NEVER once offer up a viable list of replacement candidates starting with GM and then coaching?....in my 56th year of following this club, I'm either dumber than I thought or a masochist by nature...........

    Don't need to

It's a bad game in a bad season that just about EVERYONE knew was gonna be a bad season.

And yet, week in and week out. You, and others like you are rage-filled and full of bile.

    It's completely illogical.

and you keep defending them for some reason I can't understand. You can't just say it's supposed to be bad, that's not good enough. No rage here,  I'm happy today because this is one step closer to the end of McDermott who I was done with after he punted in OT of the last IND game.

  10. 4 minutes ago, OldTimeAFLGuy said:

    ...yup...that certainly is the answer......good Lord........hate non-parental control Sundays.............

great counter-argument. Remember the last time the Bills played the Colts? McDermott punted on 4th and short in IND territory late in overtime and ended up winning despite the fact that IND could have ran the clock out causing a tie and virtually eliminating them from the precious playoffs where they got to kick a fg? That's when I was done with McDermott. Maybe a few more people will be after they are blown out by a team other than LAx2, NO, BAL, GB, NYJ. Because this Colts team is bad and now they don't have the snow to slow them down to our historically pathetic level.

It's amazing how many people are still upset by this team performing poorly this year. This year was never going to be about the Ws (though I root for one each week regardless). It's a rebuilding/gutting year and all about the young core.

Realizing that going into the game makes watching train-wrecks like the one unfolding today easier to bear imo.

last year should have been that year. And for me it's not that they are bad, it's how bad they are. Historically bad on offense and starting Peterman gives me no hope or confidence in this coach or gm.

I don't like Mahomes and I despise the Chefs. Again, I'm not willing to crown him with any titles after a few weeks. Lets see if he can sustain the success first. Prescott looked great for a season and then what?

And just so you don't try and spin this as just a dislike for a player, I really can't stand Brady and New England, yet I can give credit where credit is due, Brady is one of the best to ever play the game.

At what point would you admit we should have picked Mahomes? I'm seriously asking. I feel like people push off the judgment down the line until they can say "Stop living in the past!"

What exactly is wrong with praising him when he plays well and badmouthing him when he plays poorly, and predicting whether or not he will look good or average or bad or great in the mid, near or far off future? It's what message boards are for. It's what fans do. It's not set in stone, it's a fluid opinion. The only thing that may be wrong about it is saying you know this is how it's going to be when you don't, good or bad.

To me its like people complaining that you're innocent until proven guilty in this country. That is actually only in court. People should be able to voice and change their opinions about guilt or innocence on places like message boards based on what they know or think they know at the time. It makes for some great discussions. If you're ill-informed then it will show.

A moratorium on deciding whether you think Josh is good or bad until the end of the season seems like a way to make the board a more boring place. It's okay to change your mind on things like rookie quarterbacks.

There's nothing wrong with it. Ask yourself this question. Would there be a thread like this with this many likes if he had looked good so far? I doubt it. This thread and it's praise are not only unnecessary, but borne out of fear that he will not progress. He may or he may not, but so far he has everything stacked against him.

Playoffs are always a possibility. In Brady's rookie season (where they won the super bowl), he was 2-3 (having not played the opener) at this point with two TDs, 8 sacks and two lost fumbles. He had an 86-yard game vs. Miami. He also threw for 354 yards on 54 attempts vs SD! Rookies look like this. Hopefully it all starts to click for Josh.

I'd also like to point out that Brady had 7 games (including the Super Bowl) under 200 yards passing and two others that were at 203 and 202.

so did a lot of bad quarterbacks

Never understood why that signing was SO unpopular.  Ivory has a lot of miles on him, but he showed he still has some left today.  His runs were important and his physicality helped equal the tone that the D set.

You don't understand why someone with a similar style/role as Tolbert would be met with skepticism?

Right, I get that but if we dump the savings straight into the cheaper option- suddenly the cap hit is the same as keeping dareus and frankly even if he’s a pain to manage he’s better than the $3m guy even on his worst days and comes with upside.

we decided rather than managing the situation, to simultaneously shed talent and increase spending. Dareus better have been openly mocking coaches in meetings for that to be the answer.

My cousin and I have a running joke that Dareus was traded because during team prayer he was worshipping Satan.
