  1. There's also NO evidence that McDermott is a "soft, player's coach" that doesn't discipline players, and frankly a lot of evidence to the contrary. The narratives people cling to despite making up every piece of evidence in their own heads are fascinating.
  2. Cars often only are stopping to merge from a standstill because drivers in the other lane refuse to let them merge at speed. There is only a "crowd to beat" and room to advance relative to the crowd because of the aversion to proper zippering that utilizes the full lane space available. This is reinforced by the drivers that refuse to make room for other drivers to merge. So instead of there being a quarter mile of slow but steady two-lane traffic with cars slotting in with each other at the end, there's a half-mile (or likely longer) backup of single-file line with no consistent flow, no mutually agreed upon mesh point, and vindictive drivers who refuse to let people merge ahead of them which in turn forces people to shove their cars awkwardly into the lane when they feel like they can. This then causes the dramatic slowdowns and stoppages. Zippering is very effective and is the standard practice in most regions. I thought exactly the same way you did (since I did all of my driving in WNY norms) until I moved outside of the area for a bit and realized that we do merges the complete opposite of how they're supposed to work.
  3. This is a classic example. Merging at speed when possible is the recommended course of action when entering the highway. Once on the highway, forcing cars into a single lane a mile or two ahead of the lane merge instead of maintaining two lanes of traffic that slot in at the end is what causes the slowdowns and backups instead of a natural, steady flow. WNY follows the wrong "instructions" for these things. It is only viewed as "riding the lane as long as possible" here because the bulk of drivers refuse to zipper appropriately by using both lanes and are instead shoving themselves into a long, jerky, single-file mass with no clear mesh point and drivers who don't like when a car dares to merge in front of them while attempting to conform with this insanity.
  4. Thankfully, it's never too late to learn something new!
  5. As does most of WNY. It's called "zippering" and it is the most efficient way to funnel cars through a lane reduction when there is traffic. The aversion to allowing people to zipper or, frankly, do anything other than painfully shove cars into a single-file line more quickly than necessary might be the worst feature of driving in this area.
  6. Bingo Emotionally prepping myself to miss the playoffs with a week 17 L
  7. ... Bruh, what?
  8. To simulate the time it would have taken to set the ball in live play after the official stoppage for review. It's 100% a rule.
  9. If we're going with that era, I would argue that Duke could be our David Nelson. Those first couple seasons he caught everything thrown his way despite not being much good at separating. Eventually the catch rate fell off, and the injury sealed his deal, but he was an important part of the Gailey-Fitz offense.
  10. Bruh. Who hurt you?
  11. Clock kept running, too. Should have been 15 more seconds on the clock.
  12. Welcome to 2019, buttercup. QBs have to do more than be tall, tough, and strong-armed these days.
  13. For everyone complaining about the lack of rushing attempts: The Browns overloaded the box for most of the game to force us to throw. It was bad. They were so confident we couldn't beat them through the air that they often had one more player than they "should" in the box based on our formation, and we still couldn't consistently throw it. The third down play on the final drive is a perfect example of how little they respected Allen. Just look at that uncovered bunch! 40+ QBs in the league would identify the blitz and complete the throw. Our starter cannot. Playcalling could be better but Allen is abysmal.
  14. What blows me away is how many people are perfectly content averaging 18.1 PPG on offense This fanbase is delusional
  15. Some well-designed overloads but the Broncos need to make some serious halftime adjustments for their blocking assignments
  16. Yeesh, three offensive linemen were blocking a single rusher as that guy came free. They only brought five there, awful blocking execution.
  17. Everyone complaining about a blatant block in the back call needs to reevaluate their approach to watching football
  18. Ugh. Three in a row uncaught despite being catchable. That hurts.
  19. ... How drunk are you people This has been about as favorable as we cam ever expect for the Bills
  20. Save Allen's season from a crippling blind-side hit
  21. Morse has been brutal today, yeesh
  22. Brady's dropping almost 10 yards deep and then stepping up into any lanes that open up.
  23. On my own time I do music I genuinely enjoy or write/arrange what I like outside of my work for others I have workaholics in my family and it strains the heck out of them and their relationships and I'm sure as hell not going to inflict that upon mine
  24. I do, actually, I'm a full-time musician Having a terrible work/life balance doesn't make you more valuable, it actively harms your relationships and stunts your creativity There's data on this stuff
