  1. Solomon is unfortunately pretty garbage at DE and iirc Epenesa is nursing an injury. The org isn't just doing this for fun.
  2. They wouldn't. There isn't that much DE talent to go around. Anyone with the ability to come in and make a plus impact is already on a roster, it's a premium position for a reason. RB, TE, and S are the only positions where that might be feasible and S still needs time to acclimate to a defensive system.
  3. Brother we ran out of bodies at DE to the point that we played a rookie DT completely out of position just to make it through the game. This isn't a discussion about player quality, the Bills literally just need the best available warm body to plug into their DE rotation. That's likely Fox while Lawson spends a couple of weeks getting in shape so that we have another body in case someone else goes out.
  4. We ran out of bodies Anyone acting like the Bills WANT to be in this position is not a serious person
  5. It makes sense, good young players are already on rosters and we're literally running out of bodies to put in at DE.
  6. I think both units had/allowed fairly "normal" production relative to expectation, but the offense had 3 big drive-ending errors, two of which gave the Texans points, and Allen took a beating in the process. Not good. Also, the Dawkins false start was infuriating.
  7. I'm mildly exasperated because you're arguing against yourself and don't realize it The Bills D and O had similar days EXCEPT, prior to the final drive -2 big turnovers on offense -A big failed 4th down conversion that squandered one of the good offensive drives This led to the Bills being in a one-score game where they needed a TD on their final drive to win it and unfortunately they couldn't come up with it. Which is why people are dinging the offense, things looked ugly and unsustainable, and their net points squandered the production that they did have. Meanwhile you're arguing that the defense was the problem, which is ????
  8. Groot isn't actually highly paid, though. 15th-highest this season and he will quickly slide down the list as other DEs sign new contracts. Yes, which is why it came down to a final offensive possession at the end with the Bills having a chance to win. That is how numbers work.
  9. The defense gave up fewer than 20, fam. The offense gifted 6. It's frankly concerning at this point that you aren't able to process that.
  10. Yes? It's bad against the run, if it weren't it would be good. By the numbers it's an average overall defense. We held them well below their average offensive yardage and only gave up one point above their average points scored due to two drives starting in field goal range that ended in field goals. I don't know what else you would call it. I get that you're mad, and stats don't matter when you're mad, but that doesn't mean they stop existing.
  11. Our average defense posted an above-average performance versus a below-average offense, which is what one would expect. It hit par.
  12. The Bills have an average defensive unit, I wish it were better (and it very likely would be if remotely healthy) but it is what it is And what it is is average, not terrible
  13. Our defensive line has a lot of injuries. Sefense still shut down the passing game for the most part.
  14. The defense played well overall when looking at the full game. Last time I checked, the game doesn't end at halftime. I would generally hope for more than 12 points from our offense, yes. We can call it 16 due to the missed XP and passing up the shorter field goal, but would ding them for short-field turnovers that led to 6 points for the other team.
  15. You literally listed Allen's statline, so I responded in kind. Was I supposed to pretend that 24/34 for 253 belonged to Mills? Mills had a couple missed throws in the game but the Bills clamped down hard in the second half. I don't get why you are having trouble acknowledging that offensive production was much lower for the Texans than it was in previous weeks.
  16. They had 35 net yards in the 2nd half and never led by more than a score. There is zero percent chance they were no longer trying to move the ball. I would consider that a rock-solid outing were it not for the two interceptions, especially considering the amount of pressure being generated.
  17. The Bills have an average defense despite being a M.A.S.H unit. The Defense held them 80 yards below their per-game average. For reference, Mills had 292 and 274 the prior two weeks.
  18. 16/30 for 153, y'all gotta stop acting like he lit up the defense
  19. It wasn't quite a carry job, but it was close. Mills was 16/30 for 153 yards. That's not a very good day and well below his previous two performances.
  20. This poll is hot garbage, BTW. Needs a "No, I do not want to miss the playoffs, period" option.
  21. Frankly, in hindsight we probably should have paid Edmunds. We are noticeably worse vs. passes to the middle of the field since he left. Bernard had a great 2023 but has struggled since.
  22. He's not a game-changing pass rusher, but he isn't paid like one, and those don't typically last until his draft slot, either. Run defense isn't a one-man show, and he is extremely effective at his 1/11th. He renewed this year and is the 15th-highest paid DE, and will probably be down to ~30th or so after the next wave of extensions. No, we didn't. The guys paid to get to the QB make literally double what he does.
  23. Groot consistently gets ranked highly in advanced metrics, and again he is not paid nearly as much as top pass-rushing EDGE players are. If you're solely measuring him by sack count, then okay, not amazing, but he isn't paid like an amazing sack artist, either. It's a good-value contract.
  24. Yes? He's an adequate pass-rusher and is fantastic at everything else. The elite pash rushers get paid double what he makes.
