Fitzpatrick also had the misfortune of playing for Bills team that couldn't play defense to save their lives. He was a game manager who rarely (if ever) was given the opportunity to simply manage a game. Fitzmagic hero ball is certainly entertaining in its own way, but it's not conducive to sustained success by any means.

Even taking into account value, Benford could turn into a generational, all pro, hall of fame CB and STILL couldn’t touch the value of the Josh Allen pick. Because a generational talent at QB makes you a contender every year, regardless of anything else. A generational CB can’t even begin to compare to that.

No actually it was that simple… and the prank call is exactly why we know it was. We heard it right from Buddy’s lips! They didn’t want to pay Fitz his contact is he was fighting for a backup job, and he didn’t want to take a pay cut. The call was embarrassing obviously, but it’s not like Fitz would have insisted on being released if the Bills had been willing him to pay him. They would have worked it out, especially since Nix stepped down after the draft anyway.

Imagine cutting Ryan Fitzpatrick, who for all his limitations gave us the best QB play we'd seen since Bledsoe, because you plan on FINALLY drafting a QB in one of the worst classes ever and are legitimately planning on him to get beat out for starter by either EJ Manuel or Geno Smith. We ended that season with Manuel, Thad Lewis and Jeff Thuel as our quarterback room. Man those were wild times!

See it’s not so much that we’re “afraid” he won’t make it. It’s more that we know it for a fact that he won’t. 😅
