  1. Not very well and it was a very poor day at the office for Eli Manning. He missed open receivers and was flat out inaccurate on numerous occassions... quite uncharacteristic of Manning this season but the fact of the matter is the opportunities were there in the passing game and Eli failed to hit them. Let's not forget the fact that the Jags were playing without their starting safety after Darius went down in the first quarter -- perhaps a contributing factor in the Giants' passing game. Add to it Tiki's drops and sub-par performance, it was just a bad game all around. Poor play had more to do with the outcome than the play calling. Instead of looking in the mirror and pointing to areas where he could have played better (which is what MOST classy veterans do), this so-called "team-uniting" veteran calls out his coach in the media. Real smart. This is the same loser who had his panties up in a wad because Irvin and Jackson speculated that his retirement was a potential team distraction. Sincerely, Coach Mularkey
  2. EXACTLY. He's a classic example of a player who is adored by the media at all costs...
  3. They weren't getting it done on the ground.

  5. No injury to Spikes. He had every intention of going to practice on Wed... I'm assuming it's something that he pre-arranged. Nothing to be worried about.
  6. I thought you were eluding to the criticism the Bills have taken for spending a top 10 pick on a safety. With that said, I'm all for first round DBs as they have been very good to us over the years. Very servicable, cheap starting-caliber NFL players that have been able to contribute early. Odomes, Jones, Burris, Smith, Winfield, Clements The one commonality that these picks share, however, is that they were all between 20 and 30, if I'm not mistaken. That is PHENOMENAL value... Donahoe illustrated this perfectly when he moved down from the #14 overall pick in exchange for #21 and #51. He then traded that 2nd rounder and picked up and additional fourth. All in all, he turned the #14 overall pick into: Nate Clements, Travis Henry and Brandon Spoon. Granted Spoon turned out to be a bust, Travis and Nate were bigtime hits. In that draft, the Bills had a 5 picks in the top 200 -- no wonder it was TD's best draft. Since then, this team has done more trading away of picks than accumulating them... which in m opinion goes a long way in explaining why we regressed.
  7. You're trying to base a conclusion on very little data. 1.5 games is nothing. Also keep in mind that in the Atlanta game the run defense got infintely worse after Spikes went down. In fact, the very next play after Spikes left the field, Duckett ripped of a 30+ yard run (if my memory serves correct). In any case, TKO was a critical part of the run defense for many years. Was he as important as Pat Williams? Maybe not, but that doesn't diminish his importance to stopping the run.
  8. First pick at #40 overall is a far cry from a first pick at #8 overall...
  9. Umm... the Bills had only played in 2 games. Against Houston the D played well. Against Tampa, they played poorly.
  10. Any tailgating action going on??? This is my first and only game this season.
  11. Well said.
  12. Hopefully that'll get a mention in Bill from NYC's "Random thoughts about the game" post tomorrow morning.
  13. PAY HIM. I won't disagree with that. Still not worth the money though, sorry. 841256[/snapback]
  14. At the end of the day, it's FOOTBALL -- it's a very simple game. He has to line up an cover the guy in front of him. This is not rocket science. Repeat after me...
  15. Injury prone. No thanks.
  16. I can't believe some of the ideas being thrown around here. C'mon people, this team sucks... sucks BIGTIME, yet they nearly pulled one of the biggest upsets in franchise history against a far superior team IN THEIR STADIUM. Coaching definitely had something to do with it. The gameplan wasn't perfect but it was pretty close to it considering the circumstances. - Using an extra corner and subbing out Spikes during obvious passing downs - Allowing Clements to shadow Harrison the entire game - Running the ball and maintaining a time of possession edge to keep the ball out of Manning's hands - Keeping a conservative gameplan to minimize the chance for turnovers. If that means running the ball on 3rd and long, so be it. The Bills learned from Bellechick's mistakes from one week prior. Bellechick decided to attack their secondary -- and look what happened. Tom Brady, the best (or second best) QB in the league, threw 4 INTs. How do you think JP would have fared with that gameplan?
  17. You're wrong. My relatives in Atlanta lived in Wade's neightborhood and I had a chance to talk to him a few times. Wade planned to replace Ronnie Jones with a new ST coordinator but was going to retain Jones as a defensive assistant. Ralph had no problems with that. The true issue that split them apart was Rob Johnson. Ralph Wilson had invested $25M in his QB of the future and wanted to see what he could do. Wade and (then, and now current QB coach) Turk Schonert had fully given up on Rob Johnson and wanted to cut him and go with Flutie for the upcoming season. That's what ultimately drove Ralph over the edge in firing him. Also mind you it wasn't Wade's call to start RJ for the playoff game. It was RWs all the way.
  18. Wade was fired because he wanted to keep Flutie. Ralph Wilson wanted to keep Rob Johnson. Take that to the bank.
  19. Seriously...
  20. He signed a huge 5-year contract recently. I think he is well compensated.
  21. That's great news!
  22. Very true, though Giants do have a goal-line back.
