Exactly... give Losman every freakin snap of every game this year... I don't care how poorly he plays. Neither Holcomb or Nall are saviors. Let's see what the kid can do and hopefully the light will turn on at some point.

While I agree with most of your points (esp regarding McGahee), I have to disagree here. I think the Bills need to just ride this out and let JP start and take every snap of every game this year. This team is going nowhere. Inserting Holcomb or Nall isn't going to better the situation. I say stand by him, give him an entire season and perhaps the light will go on.

Nice one... keep drinking that koolaid. This is what makes this board so entertaining.

Well who knows... I mean.... JP is a better passer than Mike Vick will ever be, right?

Mike aka "Ron Mexico" Vick: I could be a real QB

Try again. Why do you "think" the Falcons are #1 in rushing offense and #32 in passing offense? Perhaps it has to do with the number of attempts? The Falcons lead the league in rushing attempts at 36 per game. The Falcons are last in the league in passing attempts at 24 per game. So it should be expected that they lead the league in rushing yards when they run the ball more often than any other team! Perhaps if they gave Vick a chance to throw the deep ball, he could make things happen. -

Read the earlier part of the thread... that was in response to someone knocking "my own" intelligence. Steve Young has a law degree, not a small thing by any means. -

It's rather humorous how deslusional Bills fans have become. -

Of course, which is why you employ a system that fits your roster. Make no mistake Vick was there before the West Coast offense was installed. If they were hell bent on using the WCO, then they should have traded him (a pretty stupid idea, btw). If they were hell bent on having a "successful" offense, then you would NOT employ the WCO with Vick as your QB. -

We can argue on that until the cows come home but the bottom line is that systems need to be tailored to maximize the strength of the roster. The West Coast offense is NOT the offense to be installing with Mike Vick as QB. -

Check your stats, my friend. Vick is 29th in the NFL in pass attempts among active QBs. Works out to 21 per game. Atlanta, AS A TEAM is at the bottom of the NFL in total pass attempts. -

Well, I think that's a general problem in the sense that when a team wins, QBs get a disproportionate about of the credit. When they lose, they get a disproportionate amount of the blame. Maybe it's moreso with Vick, but that's partially because he's a superstar and has been since he was at VA Tech. Lately, he has been playing like anything BUT a superstar... but I disagree with the notion that Vick can't throw the ball. As he himself pointed out, he passed for nearly 3000 yards when Reeves was head coach. Take a look at his deep balls when he gets to throw them -- they are surprisingly accurate... I think an offensive coordinator who knows what he is doing can turn Vick into a pretty good (not great) passer. -
Terrence Mcgee, the great wide receiver

Good thought, bad idea. McGee has a lot of potential as a CB and has all the tools to be a great one. He just has to overcome the funk he's in right now, most of which I feel is mental. If anything, I think he should focus MORE on defense than he is now. -

You're exactly right -- and it also coincides with the new coaching staff installing a West Coast offense. I'm not saying he's a top 5 QB, he's not even close. But you can win with Vick at QB, you just have to have the right system in place that's tailored to HIM not one tailored to Joe Montana and Steve Young. -

Let's not bring intelligence into the discussion, as it's pretty likely you were the one who changed my tires or filled my tank the other day... Insults aside, you agree with my point -- that the West Coast offense is about THE worst offense to employ with Vick as QB. -

A player is only as good as the system he is in, ESPECIALLY a quarterback. And Vick is in the wrong system. Atlanta needs to fire Greg Knapp and fire him FAST. They are trying to employ the West Coast offense with one of the most athletically gifted quarterbacks in the league. Vick has a point. They rarely allow him to throw the ball and when they do, it's usually a dink and dunk type route. Absolutely ridiculous. I have seen him throw the ball in college and he had one of the best deep balls in the country. I was at the Falcons game this Sunday against the Giants. The playcalling on offense was horrible. The ONE time (note: one) that the coaches allowed Vick to throw a deep pass, it was right on the money and should have been a touchdown. Instead, it went through the receiver's hands. Trash him all you want, I'd take him over JP in a heartbeat. -
umm... you can tell a lot by the way someone PLAYS.

And these are all behind suspect offensive lines in both Buffalo and Tennessee. The sheer number of excuses people on this board make for Willis is rather comical. The bottom line was when the team needed a yard, Travis got it. For Willis, it depends on (a) how hard he decides to run and (b) all blocks being executed to perfection.
-
Thank goodness we have Willis and his blocking to go with it!
-
Did you watch the Jets game? Those holes were about 4 times the size of what Dunn ran through. If you don't believe me, watch the tape... he had wide open holes all day. Willis certainly racked up a ton of yards (a career best for him). But he's not a homerun threat. No way.
-
Would his stats be better? Most probably... But he still doesn't pose the threat to take it to the house on any play -- he simply does NOT have the speed. I was at the Falcons game last week and saw Dunn take a carry for a 90 yard TD. Had Willis run through that same identical hole, he would have been caught from behind after maybe a 25 yard gain. That's not to say he isn't a good back... but I do agree with the original poster in that I'd take Maroney over Willis anyday.
-
Doubt it.

I would take Maroney over McGahee in a heartbeat.

Bears Haven't Proven Anything Yet.
Dawgg replied to DieHardBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Grossman was coming off an injury last season and took over after the season was more than half over. Obviously, the Bears were a team that was winning DESPITE shaky (if not inconsistent) quarterback play. Even against poor opponents last season, Grossman and Orton often stunk up the joint. However, this year, they have illustrated that quarterback play is no longer shaky and in fact is developing as a strength. Yes, they have played some marginal teams but the fact remains that QB play has been very strong. Thus, in my mind, the Bears are an elite team.
