  1. A first round receiver is the absolute last thing this team needs. Come on people! Is Matt Millen running this franchise???? If Marv were truly smart, he would do the following: 1. Wait for Jarrett to fall to #12 2. Call Tennessee (who picks at #19) and dangle the #12 pick. Norm Chow will do summersaults to get Jarret, I'm sure. Plus with Drew Bennett a free agent, receiver is a need. 3. Swap first round picks with Tennessee and grab an additional 2nd round pick. 4. At #19, pick a running back to push Willis or an impact defensive player. Use the extra 2nd rounder to plug a hole left by the deparures of Fletch, Nate and/or Kelsay.
  2. Trading Willis this year would not be a smart move. For once, this is a situation in which the Bills have all the leverage in the world. Willis is under contract and is obligated to play next season in a contract year. Whether he wants to stay or go, he will have to bust his tail off and have a good season in an audition for his next contract. The beneficiary of all this: the 2007 Buffalo Bills. In the meantime, draft a RB prospect in the 2nd or 3rd round.
  3. Peerless was a 2nd rounder.
  4. As I've said all along, Willis has the physical tools to play much better than he plays. Marv and Bill Polian always talk about brining in guys with a "football temperment." Willis is the exact opposite of that. I hope the team can find a Jerrious Norwood clone in the middle of this draft. Not only will it help JP's development, it will make Willis a better player heading into his contract year.
  5. Blame the O-Line. Not Willis' fault.
  6. Whitner is a solid player and will be a good starter for many years. The Bills would have been much better off, however, keeping Lawyer Milloy (who was under contract) and drafting Ngata. A future starting safety could have been found later on in the draft. IMO the same can't be said about a solid run-stuffing defensive tackle.
  7. I think the key difference between Vick and Vince Young is coaching. Norm Chow coached Leinart, a prototypical passer who was ready for a pro style offense 5 years ago. Despite that, Chow realizes that Young is one of the game's best athletes and has designed the playbook to fit his strengths. You can see it in how they roll him out, give him the option to run and also make use of his ability to throw on the run. With Vick, Greg Knapp has tried to turn him into a West Coast passer -- probably THE worst offense for him to be in -- 5-7 step drops, short quick passes. What most folks refuse to acknowledge was that Vick actually had one of the best deep balls in the country coming out of college. What's he doing now? It's hard to do a whole lot when your team leads the league in dropped passes. As for Flutie, homeboy was almost 40 when he left the Bills!!! The fact that he managed to win and play at a Pro Bowl level in Buffalo... one can only wonder what he could have done had NFL coaches and scouts not banished him to the CFL.
  8. Nate's parents live in Ohio, but he and his fiance are soon to build a house in Houston. His fiance has no desire to remain in WNY... that's not to say he won't, but as we all know, signifiant others can have a major impact on the decisions that we make.
  9. No mention of Fletcher?
  10. Classicly flawed argument, the same type of argument that Bills fans used to run Doug Flutie out of town in favor of the "pure pocket passer" Rob Johnson. While stats and efficiency ratings play a major role in determining the effectiveness of a QB, another measuring stick is WINS and LOSSES. Players like Vince Young and Doug Flutie will never be confused for prolific passers -- but they sure can win games. And when they can win games, those stats go right out the window. It doesn't matter if they "barely" won the game -- the bottom line is that they win and win repeatedly. This same "pedestrian" defense held the high flying Colts to under 20 points and managed to keep the Chargers mostly in check. In a league where boners like David Carr, Joey Harrington and Patrick Ramsey (and even Rob Johnson) were given ample opportunities and excuses to succeed, there is plenty of room for players like Vince Young...
  11. Hmm... perhaps the line of questioning had something to do with it? Listen to the Philly conference call with Vick and you will notice reports were focused on HIM and not the team. Perhaps that's why he said "I" and not "we." But Vick has herpes and he's selfish.
  12. Jax game. That was hilarious
  13. ... and that's the TROOTH!
  14. Agreed, and I acknowledged as much in my post. I still think TKO should get another year.
  15. YES. The most marketable player. Go to Ralph Wilson Stadium on a Sunday afternoon and see whose jersey most fans are wearing. He will need some time to recover from that injury. A year removed from tearing his ACL, Edgerrin James had a pretty mediocre season. Colts fans were screaming for him to be cut. Luckilly for them, Polian wasn't smoking your pipe and Edge was very productive the following year. That's not to say that these injuries are similar but for you to be calling for his head after this season is premature. He had virtually no training camp or preseason and suffered a major hamstring injury early on requiring him to play catchup ever since. I thought he had a great game against San Diego but had a horrible game against Tennessee -- then again so did a lot of people on the defense side of the ball.
  16. Nah I've met his fiance at the Jax game.
  17. Exactly... which is why he is in essence out of here. I also know his fiance hates Buffalo... so unless they literally overpay him, he's out.
  18. Clements wants out. He's as good as gone.
  19. Let's cut the most marketable player on the Bills ASAP. What are you smoking in that pipe of yours? Have you ever been to a Bills game before? Have you seen how much the fans absolutely love TKO? You really think a move like that would go over well with an already declining fan base? Are you aware that his salary cap figure is relatively managable for the next 2 years? If you want to get rid of him, you trade him and get "something" in return. But the bottom line is that a full offseason is what he needs.
  20. Clements is gone. Only way he stays is if the Bills use the franchise tag. Otherwise, bye bye.
  21. I think it's just a way to spread the bonus over the length of the contract.
  22. Totally agree... the playcalling with the lead was very pass-happy and it didn't help things. I still think finding another RB should be a priority. Take Atlanta for example. They found Jerrious Norwood in the 3rd round. While Dunn is still the undisputed starter, Norwood has single-handedly won games for them. Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl with Willie Parker and Bettis. Carolina's rushing offense has flourished with a 2-headed attack. Same with New England and Dallas. There are only a few RBs in this league that can carry the ENTIRE load by themselves, IMO: LJ, LT and Shaun Alexander. Another capable RB gives the team fresh legs in the 4th quarter, pushes McGahee to play hard, and gives us versatility.
  23. He just turned 30 last week. He also hasn't had a full season of conditioning. This year was surely a frustrating year for him but considering how hard he works and how much he actually cares, I say give him one more year to put it all together. If we can keep Troy Vincent and pay him $2.5M a year, we can keep TKO.
  24. Stop fondling your McGahee jersey for one second... and keep this in mind: The Titans came into yesterday's game with 30th ranked rush defense in the NFL. It's not like Buffalo was significantly worse. At some point, the excuses have to stop.
  25. It was a problem that was corrected relatively quickly, with coaching. Tiki Barber had major fumbling problems earlier in his career. Did the Giants ship him off in exchange for a mid-round pick? No. They watched him develop into a top-tier back. That's not to say that Travis compares favorably to Tiki Barber. It's simply pointing out the fact that some running backs can be coached to get over their fumbling problems. Travis, as it turns out, was one of them.
