  1. I don't think this is true. This is just the NFL execs take, not the official coach of the year award, right? EDIT: "A panel of media members votes on the NFL's recognized awards, which will be handed out during "NFL Honors" festivities at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami on Feb. 1, the eve of Super Bowl LIV. But what if the league's top talent evaluators voted instead? My annual early awards survey this year was completed by high-ranking executives in personnel from 24 NFL teams, including 13 general managers. All 24 individuals participated on the condition of anonymity for competitive reasons and to provide an honest assessment." Plus there's already a thread about this...
  2. They do if they have nothing more to play for. Usually they do because the WC bye is still up in the air.
  3. If we lose to New England, sit the starters. If we win, start everybody and win the game. Never know if Fitzmagic will show up and serve the Patriots a loss. Then we win the division and get a home playoff game.
  4. Brandon Beane came in 3rd with four votes for Exec of the year, according to this same poll of NFL execs. He's behind John Lynch (49ers) and John Schneider (Seahawks).
  5. He was being tackled from behind and got up without any indication that he was even slightly hurting.
  6. I'm just not sure who else deserves it. Edmunds perhaps. He's a first alternate. Phillips has been good, but he has been such an unknown and his sacks are so surprising that I'm not surprised that fans, players, and coaches aren't on to him yet. Poyer and Hyde haven't had the turnovers this year. Nobody on offense deserves it. Closest might be John Brown, but he is only 17th in yards and 35th in TD's. Makes sense for him to be an alternate. Case could be made for Milano to be an alternate. Just not any break out players on the Bills besides Tre White. They are a team, not a collection of super stars.
  7. He talked about it on One Bills Live. The Steelers hadn't been changing up their snap counts, so he figured he'd give it a try on that play.
  8. I was a Browns doubter, and it has gone even worse than I thought it would for them. Of course, they did beat the Bills. But the dysfunction in their locker room is going to read that team apart.
  9. I would have thought Gilmore would get it, since one of his picks went for a TD.
  10. Why would it not be? If you are attacking the ball it's smart and legal. BTW, Watt didn't punch anybody in the chest. He was CLEARLY going for the ball. He came with a downward motion to punch the ball out. It's as legal as legal gets and will never be against the rules, nor should it. And you realize that players wear hard pads over their chest, right? A punch to the chest would hurt his fist more than it would hurt the QB.
  11. These people really think a punch is more dangerous than a full speed hit from a defenders shoulder? We're talking magnitudes of more force than a punch here, folks. A hard, legal tackle is so much more dangerous and forceful than a punch.
  12. I want to see our players doing stuff like that more often. If he had connected more with the ball there's no way Allen would have maintained control. Lots of people crying about it being dirty or dangerous. Not my take at all. I find it smart and effective.
  13. I think he's wildly overrated by some, and wildly underrated by others. The truth seems to be somewhere in the middle, to me. I've always said that Hughes is the kind that needs a dominant pass rusher opposite from him to really be effective on his side. He just doesn't make the impact plays anymore like he used to when we had Mario getting double digits sacks. To me he's a guy that can absolutely be replaced, but that's kind of how this defense is outside of Tre White. Solid players all of them, but you can keep rolling if some of them get injured or you lose on in free agency. It's a committee defense, and especially so on the defensive line. And you don't see much of that out of Hughes. He'll get pressure sometimes, sure, but no huge impact plays. That was a huge, impact play from Edmunds and yeah, it's not on the stat sheet, but we can go an entire game without hearing "Jerry Hughes". He is not as effective at making those impact plays as he used to be. Still a solid player, though, and someone who most teams would want on their line at a reasonable price tag.
  14. I disagree. He played very well all season except for the one game back right after his injury. I've seen these claims about him having a slow start and I never saw that myself. He looked great to me except that first game back.
  15. It's going to be tough to make the team again. We're going to cut a lot of players that will get scooped up by other teams, similar to this past off-season. Maybe we can trade some more scrubs for low draft picks again too...
  16. I get the sentiment, but I would NOT draft a WR high unless he has size. I'd go somewhere else and circle back later for a WR with size. But that's my opinion and Beane likely has his own plan.
  17. I absolutely agree. But I don't want us drafting a small quick receiver high in the draft. If the right big receiver isn't there, draft a different position. Find a guy later that fits the mold. Don't draft a WR just for size, obviously. They have to be a complete package or close to it.
  18. I just don't see the point in getting a WR unless he's significantly bigger than Brown and Beasley. Those guys are good and we need something that they don't have. Hill doesn't strike me as a contested catch guy. He's a burner.
  19. Can't just use Kelvin Benjamin as an example. He's out of the league (I think) because he doesn't want to work. His size is what kept him IN the league for so long. There are definately inherent advantages to size. Obviously it isn't everything, but it helps. We need a more physical (and likely bigger) receiver to make plays in games where the refs let defensive backs do whatever they want, like in the Ravens game.
  20. I feel like he's been fine. Much better than most of us were expecting. I'd bring in some free agents to compete, but I bet he'd win the job again. He's young and developing.
  21. The NFL Fantasy App let's you watch select games. On your phone, but it's better than nothing.
