  1. The Bills do not have a #2 WR on their roster right now. Period. FA is basically over. The bills are now in the exact same situation we were in last season when we HAD to pick a RB (Lynch), and in the exact same situation as the year before when we HAD to take a SS (Whitner). It is never a good thing when you have to take a player at a specific position in the draft. but since we have put ourselves in that same position again, its obvious what is going to happen. The bills will either select a WR sooner than any of them should go, or trade down a few spots and take the best WR left on the board. The problem is that there arnt any Calvin Johnson or Roy Williams type WRs this year. So that this years WR draft class has no clear cut #1, and noone really deserving of a top 15 pick.
  2. Its more likly that the bills will trade down with a team who is interested in this guy. WR, TE, and CB are much much more important at this point. Though, if he looks to be a pro bowl type guy... then ok. But we would then HAVE to take a WR in the 2nd, or trade back up into the 1st.
  3. I remember when they drafted him. They took a big chance drafting him where they did. Hes big and fast for his size. He just hasnt lived up to their expectations (since he was drafed so high). As always, it all depends on how much we pay him. If he takes a very low deal, then im ok with it. If he wants a large contract, then hes not worth it. its really up to him.
  4. I didnt realize that was the year they drafted Williams. He is a beast. Just another example of why you cant judge how a team made out in the draft for a few years later.
  5. the massive difference in $ given to the 1st overall pick compared to the 3rd overall pick is so much that the guy drafted by the fins would demand #1 money. It can get really really ugly if the fins do do this, because you know whoever is selected by the rams ( i think they have the #2 overall pick) will demand #1 pick money since he was technically the #1 pick. It causes problems for everyone and gains nothing.
  6. http://snap.stats.com/stats/nflinfo/index.asp just make sure you are searching under "stats". Im just not sure how updated it is.
  7. A starting WR, TE, and CB are much more important than a backup ROG or ROT. When was the last time we heard the bills draft a player in the 1st that wasnt slotted to start his rookie year? (besides the injured McGahee).
  8. 1st round: M. Kelly (WR) - Kelly at #11, or Kelly later in the 1st if the bills trade down 5-8 spots. 2nd round: F. Davis (TE) - or best TE on the board 3rd round: best remaining CB. 4th round: best remaining player at O-Line, S, or FB 5th round: best remaining player at O-Line, S, or FB (obviously the 4th round effects the 5th round). 6th round: I have no idea 7th round: I have no idea
  9. the bills need a starting WR in the worst way. At #11, all of the wrs will be on the board. If i did a mock draft this would be an easy choice. Im just surpriesed that you dont hear more "experts" saying that at #11, all the WRs would be a "reach". Its the same situation as Whitner a few years back. We needed a starting SS badly and took the guy we wanted. I guess the only diffrence is that whitner was the second SS on the board, while many have Kelly as the #1 WR.
  10. The bills drafteed 2 CBs in the 1st round a few years ago. Both turned out to be very good players. Both left to FA after their contracts expired. It seems obvious to me that the bills do not want to invest the money for great CBs. Why draft a CB if you have absolutly no intention of keeping him past his rookie contract? Our biggest need is at WR. Reed can NOT be our #2 WR again next season. I dont believe any of the WRs are worthy of the #11 pick. The best is probubly worth the 19th pick. The bills may try to trade down in the 1st, and still get their guy, but if no team is willing, then I think the bills will take (reach) for a WR at #11. The bills have been known to "reach" for players they want/need ahead of where they are projected to go by the "experts". 1st: WR 2nd: TE 3rd: CB I thaught that DE could be a possibility, but since we didnt sign a FA WR, we need a starting wr much much more.
  11. not a waste. But the cover 2 defense makes other positions more important. The cover 2 actually protects the CBs. With the salary cap and cost of free agents, teams need to prioratize positions based on their defensive scheme. Bills drafted Winfield in the 1st round. he played great. Then the bills let him go to FA. Bills drafted Clements in the 1st round. he played great. Then the bills let him go to FA. (we could have signed him a year earlier for a reasonable contract). Its clear that the bills will not invest much into that position relative to other positions on the team. This is why I do not see the bills drafting a CB in the 1st round of this years draft. having a great player at any position is great, but the bills would rather have a great player at another position.
  12. at this point in the offseason, we need a starting WR MUCH more than a starting CB. The bills basically HAVE to take a WR in the 1st round. I dont like the idea of having to pick a certain position in the draft, but it is what it is. 1st: WR 2nd: TE 3rd: CB
  13. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/features/...articleid=30054 "1. Limas Sweed, Texas Height/Weight: 6'4/212 College Experience: Fifth-year senior Combine Results: 4.46 forty, 35" vertical Comparison: Herman Moore Draft Projection: Late first to early second round 2007 Statistics: 19-306-16.1-3 Tds Positives: Sweed does not drop passes he should catch, especially over his shoulder. He is a remarkably fluid athlete with near ideal top-end speed for his size. Sweed has an outstanding work ethic, on-field demeanor, and the confident swagger often found in "No. 1" receivers. He is not dominant over the middle, but understands how to avoid big hits. Sweed's arms measured the second longest at the Senior Bowl, behind only Adarius Bowman. Negatives: Sweed's senior year ended after seven games due to wrist surgery. He also battled an ankle sprain during the season. Sweed aggravated the wrist injury at the Senior Bowl. He is considered a strong route runner, but could be more sudden out of his breaks. Sweed needs to improve his upper-body strength. Verdict: Sweed's injury will likely keep him out of the top-15 picks in April, but he has the potential to be a Pro Bowl-caliber split end by year three. If Sweed can get his wrist straightened out, he should have no trouble being an above average to good rookie starter. 2. Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma Height/Weight: 6'4/218 College Experience: Third-year junior Combine Results: Did not participate (quadriceps/leg contusion) Comparison: Taller T.J. Houshmandzadeh Draft Projection: Late first to early second round 2007 Statistics: 49-821-16.8-9 Tds Positives: Like Sweed, Kelly is a smooth athlete with sure hands and vertical ability. He is just as good as Sweed in the red zone, if not better. Kelly has big, strong hands and will win most jump balls. He's flashed being a power player and is difficult to bring down after the catch. Kelly was highly productive all three seasons at OU. Negatives: Having played almost strictly split end in coach Bob Stoops' run-heavy attack, Kelly is somewhat inexperienced as a route runner. He was injured in both of the Sooners' last two Bowl games, raising questions about his big-game drive. Kelly needed surgery to repair a torn meniscus following OU's 2006 Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State. His numbers dropped from his sophomore to junior year, though that was mostly due to his increased focus on downfield routes. Verdict: Kelly's game will change as he makes the NFL leap. He will not be able to run away or separate from pro defensive backs as easily as he did in the Big 12. Kelly's combination of size and athleticism is similar to Sweed's, but he is less likely to make an immediate impact. In the long run, however, he could become a more complete player. Kelly is better suited for a West Coast offense."
  14. I was really looking forward to this episode, but man, it just pissed me off. - OT? !@#$in uninformed talking head. - a WR ive never heard of at #11? probubly the 1st WR taken in the draft... are you !@#$ing kidding me? - Our OC leaving was a bad thing? i almost turned it off after this one. they didnt even finish the highlights at the end, Evans catches the pass and runs for a TD, but they just showed him jumping. also, I like the total access guy, but I think that even I could have read from the monitor with more excitment. The ONLY thing they actually got right was saying that the bills need a TE.
  15. No WR in this draft is good enough to be taken in the top 15 (if not top 20). The mock drafts have us taking a WR because that is the position that we have the biggest need for, and the fact that the best players at our other need positions probubly wont fall to #11. Though the bills do have a history of taking, reaching, for the guy they want higher than the "experts" think he should go.
  16. I would have agreed with them a month ago, but I dont see the bills drafting a LB in the 1st round. How could they? where would he go? Poz has solidified his spot at MLB. Crowell was are best defender last year. and Mitchell just signed a good size long term deal. The bills realistic 1st round options are as follows, in this order: DE DT (unlikly since the top 2 wont be there and the rest are late 1st round picks if not 2nd rounders) CB (I hope not, because we will just let him go to FA after a few years) WR (no WR in this draft is really worth the #11 pick) trade down WR TE
  17. He was good enough to play the end of last season. I dont see why he wouldnt be able to play now. The lions must think hes not the same as he was before. I wouldnt mind having the bills doctors look at him and have him run a practice or 2. If he can still play, he would be a great addition.
  18. Vilma was a great draft pick for the jets. hes young and the core of their D. they will not trade him for an older, previously injured, OLB. it just doesnt make sence. maybe... MAYBE if vilma was demanding some insainly high new contract then i can see why they would be willing to trade him. but i think teh jets would be willing to give him a good amount of money to stay. so i just dont see this happening.
  19. QB: JP Losman, Kelly Holcomb, Craig Nall RB: Anthony Thomas, Draft Pick Free Agent pick up FB: dont know, dont care WR: Lee Evans, Peerless Price, Roscoe Parrish, Josh Reed Sam Akien TE: Robert Royal, Kevin Everett LT: Jason Peters, LG: Derrick Dockery C: Melvin Fowler, Duke Preston RG:Langston Walker, Jason Whittle RT: Terrence Pennington, Jason Whittle RDE: Aaron Schobel, Anthony Hargrove DT: Larry Tripplet, John McCargo, Kyle Williams, Tim Anderson LDE: Chris Kelsay, Ryan Denney, Anthony Hargrove OLB: Takeo Spikes, Keith Ellison, Coy Wire, Mario Haggan MLB: Angelo Crowell, John Digiorgio CB: Ashton Youboty, Terrence McGee, Kiwaukee Thomas, Jabari Greer SS: Donte Whitner, FS: Ko Simpson, Jim Leonhard K: Rian Lindell P: Brian Moorman the only position i can say for sure that we will draft is RB and dout they will start (unless hes our 1st rounder). but there is still a chance we will trade for a RB.
  20. I like Brandon Jackobs from Nebraska. he doesnt have much playing time, only about 1 season, but hes quick, elusive, and can catch. and we can probubly get him in the 3rd round.
  21. the texans have to be one of the dumbest teams out there. first passing on Bush, now wanting to trade carr. They gave Carr a HUGE roster bonus at the begining of last season. if they didnt like him then they should have cut him loose bfore then. so they give him a ton of money (eating up even more cap space) and now 1 season later want to drop him? Carr is one of the few stars on that team. They have a good QB/WR team going and they want to screw that up? ive watched some texans games, thier offense (with carr) is what keeps that team in the game, even with their horrable O-Line. With my luck he will be traded to the Miami dolphins for a 5th rounder and become a damn probowler. people call him a bust because he was the 1st overall pick and cant get his team to the playoffs. but thats not all his fault. he was drafted by an expansion team. they aquired good WRs but there is only so much you can do with out at least a decent O-Line or defense. Fans are tired of seeing their team lose and it looks like they are willing to use one of their best players as a scapegoat. Their GM and head coach should be balmed. where are the quality FA signings? have they even tried to get an O-Line? its just sad.
  22. "The Bills signed Parrish to a four-year contract on July 29, 2005. The deal is worth $2.7 million and included a $1.32 million signing bonus, according to an ESPN.com report." 4 million over 4 years is a lot diffrent than 4 million a year. His entire contract is worth 4.02 million, but that is a 4 year deal so hes basically making 1 mil a year. and 1 mil a year sounds about right for a 2nd round pick.
  23. its no more embarrassing than an anounncer saying he doesnt know which is larger, 3/8 or 1/2. i think that was Joe Buck but damn.
  24. i dont remember him getting beat to often. he played well. and consitering he was a very late round draft pick in his rookie year, i think he played very well. i dont see the bills dropping a ton of cash to get a decent RT when hes good enough. OTs are expensive, IMO we need to spend money on a DT, MLB (if flethcer is gone), CB (if clements is gone), and 1 (if not 2) stud OGs.
