Sorry if this has been said, but one thing to consider is the following. When cops pull out their taser, they pull the trigger once. It's a one-use device until reloaded. When cops pull out their handgun, they pull the trigger multiple times. It's part of their training to shoot until the suspect is down. In some cases, they can't even recall how many times they fired because of the adrenaline of the moment. To the best of my knowledge, this officer fired a single shot. That supports the notion that she believed she was pulling out her taser.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

Why are you pinning this on Biden? After all, you JUST said: So which SoCal Deek post am I supposed to follow? -
The last time the Bills picked at #30 in the draft...

Ahhhh. This makes more sense. -
Not sure if this has been talked about, but is his size and durability a concern as the main return man for a full season?

Thank you for this. I agree 100%.

Just a quick reminder for me: is it just rounds 2 and 3 on Day 2? Or is it 2-4? -
WFT going from cheerleaders to a coed dance team

I'm all for more inclusivity (if that's even the point of this). But from what most of the women I know who watch football have told me: a.) they don't mind the all female cheerleaders, and b.) they never asked for male cheerleaders since they already have plenty of "eye candy" to look at on the field (one woman's words, not my own). EDIT: Ah I see now. I just read @DrDawkinstein's post above. Ugh... disgusting. -

Very interesting to read this thread while I'm concurrently taking criminal law in law school. Sounds like there's a lot of retributivists on here. -
Clearly money was the biggest factor. I don't think any of the other GMs (including Beane) were willing to pay that kind of premium.

The documentary "Pandora's Promise" makes a very compelling argument for nuclear (and against the environmentally excessive left for not realizing that nuclear is actually a relatively clean, sustainable source of electricity). The energy infrastructure in this country needs to be comprehensive. That's the bottom line. Pipe-dreams preaching perfection are going to be the enemy of progress. -
Biden Confronts The Economic Crisis

That'd be a personal matter between my wife and I, and one that the government should not interfere with. -
Biden Confronts The Economic Crisis

I have absolutely zero problem with abortion or contraception. If anything, any legislation that has ANYTHING to do with interfering with female bodily autonomy at any level should be decided by women and women ALONE. And whatever their decision is, that is the decision that I, a male, will respect. -
Same. I see him signing anywhere from 8-10 because he's the classic type of person that gets overpaid.

Biden Confronts The Economic Crisis

You really don't see the connection? You implied that the people who favored war were at fault for favoring war, and that it was reflective of their "judgment and ability to lead the country." So, if Trump was also in favor of war, it is axiomatic that this too was reflective of his judgment and ability to lead the country. -
We are very much on the same page in that case. Fwiw, I’m a full believer in constitutions and the rule of law. I read your post as suggesting such institutions were a given and consequently that there was never anything to worry about. I think there is always something to potentially worry about. Complacency breeds corruption. Every person in power ought to be watched closely. Period.

The learning moment here is just how fragile democracy is and just how much diligence is required to maintain it. Don’t ever just take this for granted because of past history. It wasn’t a piece of parchment that preserved our democracy. It was the women and men TODAY who refused to give it up without a fight.

My dad is 92 and watches Fox News daily. Unfortunately he fell for the My Pillow scammer. I told him I could get him a much better pillow if a new pillow was what he wanted. He refused and demanded I order two of them for him. He threw them out after the first night and fell in love with the ones I bought him after that.... Sadly, that's just one of many examples of him falling for those infomercials. It is DISGUSTING how much predatory crap is being peddled to the elderly on that channel.

Whaaaaat?! She's 5'2'' and he's 6'6''... How does that even happen?

I've been saying this ever since we signed Star and people were screaming for heads. So many people don't understand the trenches in football because it doesn't get the same level of attention as the skill positions (and corresponding defensive positions). He's a tremendous asset in the run defense and got paid what he was worth. Period.

I thought Levi was trash. Haters gonna hate. -
I kind of preferred when the sport was a little more violent, when DBs could be more physical with receivers, when QBs could get laid tf out, etc. Granted there were terrible physical and mental repercussions for the players that played during these times as we now know about CTE, but in a perfect, injury-free world I think that would be the best way to play football. The rules as they are today are more considerate of player health and the science of maximizing our body's output has only improved since the days of yore, thereby increasing the longevity of the great talents. So there's something to be said for that as well.
