  1. I didn’t realize that. I think it shows in the way they play. They had to earn their position the hard way, so they appreciate the opportunity. It’s a great success story for sure.
  2. The way I see it, JJ would not have commanded the on-field respect / coverage that was absolutely key to our success at the beginning of the year. We'd have had Brown and Beas at #1/2 with JJ potentially seeing the field initially as a #3. That bumps our entire WR corps up a notch (Brown on #1 CB, Beas on #2). Right now JJ is the #2 WR on the team and is only now starting to draw the #1 CB. Diggs always draw the majority of coverage that makes the rest of our WR corps better. So it's not just apples to apples with SD and JJ. To truly understand the impact of SD, you also have to account for his position at the top of the depth chart from the beginning of the season. This allowed the rest of the corps to compete against lesser competition. IMO SD is a force multiplier: Established Elite WR that commands special attention (#1 CB / Double coverage) the first day he stepped on the field. Unquestioned #1 WR the day he walked into the WR room - Knocks JB and Beas down the depth chart to compete against lesser talent Intangibles - hard worker, expects the best of everyone, high standards; no rookie walks in the door with these assets Immediate rapport with JA - a rookie has to establish that he can compete at this level and build trust with his QB/OC before he has the opportunity to build that relationship I'm sure there are other positive impacts, but the point is, he did more for this team than ANY rookie could possibly do, and while JJ MAY develop into this kind of force multiplier in the future, SD already is. We knew what this team needed and we knew where to find it. So we went and got it. The Bills absolutely won in this trade. That said the Vikings didn't lose either.
  3. I always find it funny that his makeup is a million times better than his wife's. She needs a new agent lol
  4. It's possible he's on the Emergency Covid squad much like Fromm
  5. Actually that one was moved to 3 Sunday’s after the 2nd full moon of any odd month. If one or more games are moved onto the same slot it will be settled in a 3-man sack race round robin until a winner is declared. Right?
  6. Completely agree based on merit, but who wants to give MORE draft capital to the Chiefs?
  7. Got hit so hard he couldn't walk straight the rest of the day.
  8. If he's unrestricted next year and coming off an injury, it may be another Bean discount special.' Wouldn't mind seeing him in a Bills uni
  9. I think ESPN's (and to be honest a lot of sports media's) demise has more to do with conflating sports/politics than a decrease in interest in professional sports. That said, I 100% agree on the financial risks associated with borrowing from future earnings. It would be a foolish decision which could literally put the entire league at risk. At the end of the day, the only people who will have to get used to the new financial situation will be the players. Salaries will have to go down and I'm sure this will lead to a lot of unhappy superstars.
  10. Then with all your important players immunized to Covid, they can do a deep run in the playoffs without having to worry about losing players. genius!
  11. I'm not a conspiracy guy but I've noticed that across the league this year. I forgot which game it was, but in a series of 3 plays, the refs completely changed the momentum of the game and brought it back into "competitive range". Something like, instead of going up by 3 scores, a sequence of penalties takes away the points, ends the drive, and with a ghost call, provides the other team with fantastic field position. And it hasn't just been once or twice. I've found myself thinking that a number of times this year already.
  12. Yeah it looked like the lip sync went out early so they were stuck doing cheerleader shots (always nice) and aerials of the stadium. To be honest, I was surprised they had a special one. Sort of forgot...
  13. I don't know either. He's an explosive athlete who clearly loves the game. The dude is all smiles. Then I see the Tebow references and disparaging his Mormon religion and I think I can figure out the reason. Just watch the game and be entertained!
  14. Maybe now is the right time for the whole team to have a Covid party, get it knocked out during the bye and crush it the rest of the season!
  15. Maybe but he’s no Merton Hanks...nothing like his touchdown dance lol Not sure it can be done without literal whiplash edit: yup should’ve read the thread first lol
  16. I honestly think of the Oline as a single unit/position and the 2nd most important “position” on the field. EVERYTHING goes through the line. RBs look better, QBs have more time meaning WRs have longer to get open. They all are on a sort of shot clock that the OLINE provides. More time equals more success across the board. So IMO, I’d rather overpay for PROVEN Oline talent vs. just about any position other than QB.
  17. Ok I agree with this. In the long run, this set up has the potential to be fantastic. I guess my mind was on the massive Offensive production Fitzy was generating and comparing it to what Tua has generated. I don't think either of those games would've even been close if Fitz was in. That's why I was surprised to hear them say it that way.
  18. I actually heard this morning while discussing the Bills, something to the effect of "They did beat Miami but that was pre-Tua" I don't know but I think a Fitz lead Miami is a better team RIGHT NOW than a Tua led one. It just struck me as really odd sounding...
  19. They are completely separate career fields with completely different talent pools. Coaches get to pull from the full population as there are a huge variety of skills/talents that can make a great coach. NFL athletes are literally the tiniest fraction of the tiniest fraction of the population due to the physical requirements for the position. NFL athletes are probably the best athletes this world has known to this point. Put another way, how many successful coaches have gone on to be successful NFL players? Just because the player pool has a huge racial imbalance, it doesn’t mean that everything associated with it also has to show that imbalance.
  20. But is the good ol boys club racist? That is the question. It’s not about it being difficult to break into. This rule implies that the club is full of racists that must be prodded into not being as racist. I don’t believe these owners are overtly racist like this. I’d also take a look at the racial breakdown of the country. 13% of the country is black 13% of 32 is approx 4 There are 3 (PLEASE correct me if I’m wrong) current black head coaches in the NFL. It is a little off but not as critical a deficit that would require this strong a program IMO. If the club is restrictive do something to promote new blood. Don’t call it something else and let the club stay as closed as ever as “efforts” continue to fail.
  21. I’m sure the powers that be will find just enough votes in the recycle bin to put Mahomes up top
  22. Nobody puts Brownie in the corner! I've had...the time of my liiiiiife!!
