Marquez Valdes-Scantling meeting with the Bills (UPDATE: Signed)
SCBills replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't expect him to be anything more than a poor man's Gabe Davis in our Offense.. but it's still something we need to be able to threaten defenses with. -

Glad we did this. MVS was clutch in the Playoffs last year, which is not much that we can say consistently for anyone we've put around Josh. Gives us a true speed/vertical threat, which is a WR element we desperately needed. That WR6 battle is going to be an absolute crucible. Coleman, Shakir, Samuel and MVS all look like locks. MVS signing a 1.125M guaranteed deal, incentives up to 4.5M. Hollins, the way they talk about him, seems like a lock. That's five .. and honestly, with Kincaid, Knox, Cook, Davis... could work. I don't necessarily hate our WR room. Would've loved a high level proven WR, but it seems with this signing that the $$$ we open 6/1 may be earmarked elsewhere. -

MVS outplayed Diggs in our Divisional Game, so that’s how I’m going to choose to think of him if we sign him. -

It’s easy to clown this, but I’d be very high on this signing. Big body, contested catch WR in Keon Coleman. Two quick separation guys in Shakir and Samuel. A speed/field stretcher in MVS. Big body blocking WR in Mack Hollins. Then open competition for WR6. That WR room at least makes sense, regardless of how one feels about the proven talent. -
I can’t even really comment on this because it’s obviously all such a disgrace. Utter mockery of our justice system. All hinging on a deeply partisan judge and heavy politically left lean jury. Anyone trying to continue to hype this have got to feel dirty about doing so .. even some honest Dems have started clearing their conscience and questioning all of this. I’d suggest more do the same.

I wonder how many people in this country have no real opinion on Israel vs Palestine, but have seen who is in opposition of Israel (their symbol for “oppression”) and concluded that’s not the side they can support.. I’m willing to bet it’s decently high. Most people in this country aren’t highly educated on these issues, but if you’re a random electrician etc., who sees more than five seconds of these communist children, I’m willing to bet you automatically oppose whatever they advocate for.

The variance in how good our DE room can be is wild. -Rousseau contract year -Epenesa continued improvement? -What is Von Miller? -Duwane Smoot injury recovery? -Can Solomon’s rush carry to the NFL? Its realistic to think all of these can work out favorably for us, but hope isn’t a strategy and the flip side of the coin is we only have two starter level Defensive Ends for certain.

Fair .. but we’re not likely to have an easy go of it early in the season, or at all this season. Brutal schedule. Im ok if they’re confident in this group and we head into the season as is, but they better be confident.. Im fine going young, but I’m not fine stumbling hard out the gate and potentially wasting a prime year of Josh Allen. We have money next year and a bunch of draft picks next year to add cheap talent. If a guy becomes available this year, we have levers available to get absorb their contract and then extend/rework their deal to provide cap space for this upcoming season. Im fine either way, but they better have given Josh Allen enough to compete this season.

The democrat party: Abortions and pot.

Abortion & Buying Votes is the name of the game. Economically illiterate doesn’t even begin to describe this. -
Rd 5, Pick 141: C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
SCBills replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall
Teams likely have 8 OL active on Gameday, 9 total on active roster. I do think what you say is correct, but I have to imagine Kromer is going to want VPG to have some baseline familiarity with Guard if everything goes haywire ala the early season Miami game a few years ago. Most teams don’t have backups active that can only really play one position at a strong level … we’d now have two with LT Van Demark and C Van Pran Granger. That likely would leave Collins as the guy for backup RT and both G spots without a shuffle. Not the end of the world given McGoverns flex, but also not what most teams do, having 2/3 backups being one position backups. They’ll likely play Van Demark at RT and VPG at OG a good bit this summer to try and develop their flex. Let’s just hope VPG wins the C spot because that would be incredibly ideal. -
Dang.. I know there were a handful of podcasters/fans that were thinking he could’ve been our pick here.

Rd 5, Pick 141: C Sedrick Van Pran-Granger
SCBills replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yup. Torrance was a RD1 Guard talent that we got in RD2 because he lacks any flex. VPG was a Day 2 Center talent according to quite a few evaluators, but due to his arm length, that’s really all he can play. Therefore he was available to us in RD5. They’re going to cross train him at Guard because if he doesn’t beat out McGovern to start the year, your backup Center has to be able to play Guard in an emergency. Nothing wrong with that .. but he’s probably not going to be great at it. -
Compliment piece. My best guess for the Bills vision of this Offense around Josh Allen (as currently constructed) is to have a solid OL with a talented run/pass RB rotation. Kincaid as the pseudo #1 receiving option, with Knox as the traditional TE. Shakir, Samuel & Coleman as a trio of WR2’s.

When Elam has played, it’s been boom or bust .. and in big moments. He was, allegedly, dealing with an injury last year and (reportedly) had issues with his position coach. A microcosm being the Steelers playoff game where he got abused two plays in a row and on the third play got an interception. A year prior, in that same WC Round, was probably our best defensive player against Miami. Former RD1 pick with elite athletic traits. I’m not banking on a healthy season with a new coach catapulting him to his full potential, but I see way more upside with Elam at CB than I do Burks at WR.

2024 Buffalo Bills Roster - All 91 Spots filled
SCBills replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
QB - Elite TE - One of the best units in the NFL RB - One of the better units in the NFL, with a pro-bowl RB and a 4th Round rookie addition OL - On paper, and with Kromer leading it, likely a Top 12 group DT - Very good 4 man rotation on paper with Oliver, Jones, Johnson & Carter (Better than last year) DE - Depends on Von being able to give us Floyd's production LB - On paper, if Milano is fully healthy, one of the best tandems in the NFL with good depth NCB - One of the best slot corner in the league CB - Douglas & Benford are a good duo. Depth dependent upon Elam. Not sure I see "worst roster on paper since...". In many areas I believe we are as good, or better, than last year. The two massive question marks to lend credence to your statement are if we fall on our face at WR and Safety. Both units adding an unproven high pick at the position, to go with veterans. Samuel & Shakir having a good bit of upside, with Rapp/Edwards at safety being more JAG types who we hope excel in our system. -
Well said. Ray Davis is a legitimate 3-down back. He's obviously a good runner, good vision/contact balance etc., he's also decent in pass pro and is an above average receiving back. Cook is too good to not be RB1, but Ray Davis is actually more suited to be RB1 with Cook as the explosive change of pace back with WR level route running ability (not commenting on having actual WR skills until he stops dropping passes)

They’re going after those who have some money, but not enough to fight them on it. The easiest folks for the government to get money from. We all knew this would happen. This administration literally only cares about the ultra-rich, single/childless women and militantly left POC. Everyone else will pick up the tab for their pandering.

Buffalo Bills Schedule Discussion / Prediction Thread
SCBills replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
Far be it for me to defend the continual coming up short due to bad breaks, coaching and players not stepping up.. However, we lost Matt Milano in that game and Daquan Jones, who was playing like an All-Pro, came back for the playoffs at around 50-60%. Clearly that made a difference in the game as Mahomes had dudes wide open all over the field due to other injuries and no healthy linebackers aside from street FA AJ Klein. -
I agree with you that no WR was really worth it at that point.. we'd just be throwing them into the pile with Shorter, Shavers etc.. I do think they crushed the 5th Round though. Love the VPG pick and think Solomon is incredibly intriguing on this Defense if he translates as a pass rush specialist. Don't have an opinion on Olofoshio either way, but a lot of draft guys like Jeremiah thought he was a great value pick.
-
Reading a bit into the sequencing and time spent on draft picks, it looks to me that Coleman, Bishop, Carter, Davis and VPG are all expected to compete for immediate playing time.. Then we got the Terry Pegula "rapid fire" comment and they sped through the picks of Olofoshio, Solomon etc.. I don't think Solomon should be counted on as an immediate contributor but mannn I hope his pass rush ability translates. Having that Bryce Huff type player in this rotation would help.. a lot.

What a pathetic way to frame this. Rich people get away with stuff all the time. What I have a problem with are misdemeanors, at best, being juiced up into felonies by politically motivated DA’s going after the regimes political opps. Who gave you an “awesome” reaction for this nonsensical comparison of whats going on?.. I expect gibberish from you, but it’s sad to see someone actually think what you say has any merit.
