  1. I doubt it's Tyrod but whoever, the Bills will be better. We won't be just watching the Jets.
  2. Yeah, there are all those questions and more, but any discussion of it now is poor speculation. You can talk about draft possibilities, but even that is pure speculation until we know what happens at qb in free agency.
  3. There's really only one question in February 2018: Who will be the Bills' starting QB in September? That's it. That question, of course, is a HUGE question, and there's all the draft analysis and all the free agent talk about that. But for me, at least, there's nothing else. We know who the GM is and will be, we know who the head coach is and, at least for now, there's not a lot of point in talking about them being great or terrible. It's too early. Yeah, there are going to be some moves on the coaching staff, but the big one's already happened (Daboll) and there's not much to say about him until we see the 2018 offense. And yes, there are all those holes in the roster. But really, all that's going to happen is the Bills are going to draft some guys and sign some free agents. Some of us will like some of the guys the Bills get and some will be unhappy that they didn't get other guys. In the end, it's going to be a decent collection of talent, and the Bills record won't turn on how good those guys are - it will turn on how well coached they are. And on the QB. So it's wait for the franchise deadline and free agency. Then it's wait for the draft. THEN we'll have plenty to talk about.
  4. Right. Just like they did with Bradford. And the fact that he has a team-friendly contract makes him even MORE valuable in a trade. I think the story on Foles is that with good protection in the right system, he can be VERY good. The playoff run wasn't an accident, and his good year in Philadelphia wasn't, either. The guy has shown he has great recognition skills and decision making, and he's an accurate thrower.
  5. Josh Hapless is doing a good job translating what I'm saying. I think the rules of thumb you should follow are these: 1. If you're starting a new thread your post should either contain useful information about the Bills or a link to free information aboit the subject of your post. 2. If you're going to post simply a link to information we have to pay to see, then the title of the threaf should say the threas has a link to paid content. If you follow those rules you'll be fine and people won't be mislead into opening your thread. 3. If you're posting in an existing thread, linking to a paid site is less of an issue, but the courteous thing yo go is give some clue that It a paid. Often you'll see someone post something like this: "If you have ESPN Insider you make like this ...." For me the whole point is that it's irritating to be mislead into me into clicking on threads that are commercial, or are jokes, or otherwise take me to content thatbisnt a discussion of the Bills.
  6. Someone in the last hour or so posted a replay of Benjamin. Find it and look. I thought was marginal call, the kind-of call that often is not made. And when you watch the replay you'll see the ball hit Benjamin in the hands, and he barely jumped. Benjamin was late turning for the ball because, coincidentally,n he was interfering with the DB. If he had just turned for the ball he would have caught it. I didn't like the call either.
  7. Got you. Thanks. I'm only talking about this forum.
  8. If it takes a first and third this year and a first next year I don't think it's happening. Can't imagine Beane burning draft capital like that. Most I can imagine is one first and one other pick this year to move up to 13 or so. So I'm with you. I think Beane will keep his picks do the best he can. And I think the Bills will make a serious run at Cousins.
  9. Why else are people here? If they post they do one of those two things - share information or discuss. What else do they do?
  10. Watch the replay. The pass wasn't bad. Hit him in the hands, high, where it's supposed to be for Benjamin. The problem was that that when Benjamin was interfering with the defender he should already have begun to turn for the ball. If he'd done that he could have boxed out the defender and made the catch. All on Benjamin.
  11. Exactly. Your post should either contain enough information to start a discussion or add to an existing discussion, or it should link to a free source so that people can get information. It shouldn't just say "I've got some great information for you. Come over and buy it." For me it's the thread title. I don't look at every thread. This thread title syasnits offerng information about a play I was interested. In fact it offered no information. And once I read the OP, I thought that perhaps this link to BN WAS free, so I tried it. So I wasted my time and as Josh apparently now understands, that's bad forum etiquette. Either the title should be clear or the OP should do contain enough information to make it a useful post on its own without the link.
  12. Different people seem to be objecting to what you did for different reasons. This sentence is at the core of my objection. I come here for two reasons: to share news about the Bills and to discuss the Bills. I think that's why everyone is here. Except you. You admit that the reason you're here is to get people to look at what your organization has produced. You're not here to share information. You're here to sell it. You try to make it sound like you're doing a public service. And in fact if I subscribed to BN and I posted the same thing you did it would be fine. That would be mw, a member of this community, sharing information others might be interested in. But you aren't a member, at leastnnot in spirit. You don't come here to share information or to talk about the Bills, noun aren't a participant. It's clear you're here to sell subscriptions. Now I have to admit, it sounds like you got a lot of great stuff from Tyrod and maybe I ought subscribe. I give you credit for that. But as others have said, if youre going to come here and link too to contest that requires paymeet to see it, then telll people in the title of the thread that you're liking to paid material. Better yet, why don't you get your IT people to post some of the material, like say the discussion of the thrown to Benjamin, to a special free link? Then come here and post about THAT, giving people the free link. Then tell us if we want to see the rest we have to sign up. In other words, actually share some of what you've produced.
  13. Agreed. I thought this WAS NOT the first time. Bottom line - if he wants to post news, post it. If he wants to talk about the Bills, then state an opinion.
  14. It was weak. A push like that often goes uncalled. My complaint isn't about the service or the price. They can publish what they want and charge what they want. My problem is some guy from the News coming to this forum and starting a thread that is a teaser and nothing more. He tempts you with an interesting title, then gives you no information other than a link to an article we have to pay for. He didn't come to the forum to talk about the Bills or add anything. He came solely for the purpose of getting people to buy his online service. That's trolling and nothing more. Look at the OP. It doesn't create a discussion topic, it doesn't discuss the Bills in any meaningful way. It doesn't link to an article that's available to all of us.
  15. It was a push off. Benjamin interfered before he looked for the ball. I think it was also the result of the fact that Taylor and Benjamin were née to each other and Benjamin was limited in practice and limited physically. It wasn't the first time this season that they hadn't been on the age page.
  16. KB got the offensive interference call. If he hadn't committed the penalty, the Bills would still have been on the one yard line.
  17. That's just nonsense and someone has to call you on it. This forum is intended for discussion of the Buffalo Bills, not for discussion about the coverage of the Buffalo News. You have a Contact Us section on your website if anyone wants to talk to you about your coverage, and I suppose your articles include the email address of the authors. You could start your own forum to discuss issues about your publication. Your post starting this thread isn't about discussing your coverage. It's a blatant attempt to move people away from this page to read your material, for a price. I'm perfectly fine with you trying to sell your product. It's called advertising. Pay for it. Don't come here trying to convince us that you're here to discuss the Buffalo Bills. Wrong. Tyrod is given a play to run. His job is to look at the defense, see what they're giving him, and decide which way to go. His job is NOT to analyze the situation and conclude that in this situation the Bills should run, regardless of the defensive alignment. He did his job. Benjamin didn't do his. Don't like the call? Blame Dennison.
  18. I really don't get this. Peop l e want a great quarterback but they don't want to spend the money. Well, you can't have great if you don't spend the money.
  19. My view is that you're abusing the privilege of posting here. If you want talk about the Bills, great, let's hear it. If you want advertise for you prodit-making venture, then buy an ad. Don't come here pretending you're part of this community of Bills fans. You aren't.
  20. I think you're wrong. It isn't a question of whether the issues he has talk about are nothingness or not. All I was talking about, and cba fan, too, I think, is that on several occasions he would have been better off to keep his mouth shut. He's a public figure, and it's not in his interested to get blasted by people because he's said something stupid. He HAS changed, because he's learned to think before he speaks, and when he thinks first, he doesn't say things that are likely to get him in trouble.
  21. Right. And his coach wouldn't have liked it. Or his quarterback. And to PaattMaann - just because he was upset about being traded doesn't mean he should be saying what he thinks. That's the whole point. If you're a public figure, what you say gets magnified and scrutinized. If you're smart, you keep your mouth shut. Shady hasn't always been smart. He's maturing and getting better at it. That's why I pointed out his comments after the Jacksonville game. He was letting his brain control his mouth, which he hasn't always done in the past.
  22. He says things before he thinks about them. Spouted off a lot about getting traded. Said too much right after that night club incident. The result is that you hear him apologizing a day or two later. He's learning. He was really unhappy after the playoff game, because they didn't run the ball on first and one. He went right up to the edge of saying something stupid, then stopped and said it's not his decision.
  23. Yeah, difference in philosophy. Succeeding the NFL is brutally difficult, and there isn't one formula. I've said it before: I'd love to be sitting the room, listening to McBeane talk about this stuff. I'd love to know what they're thinking. As interested as I am in football, I've never really spent any time thinking about things like the cap. To me, that's all just business, and the business people can figure it out. It's complicated. Having said that, I'm sure they can do it. I think there are limits as to how much money you can push into one year, as you suggest. I think if the total money in any one year that is a lot more than the average of the whole deal, the League automatically converts a big chunk of it to signing bonus instead of one-year money and spreads that chunk over the entire contract, like a signing bonus. You can pay the guy a dollar this year and $30 million a year for the next four, and that will reduce the cap hit in the first year, but the cap hit in year one will be a lot more than a dollar. It would probably be $24 million, or something like that. Some folks here understand those rules. The point is, if they want Cousins, the business people will figure out how to get him what he wants and structure it in a way that is as cap friendly for the Bills as possible. The cap can be managed. There are only three questions: Do the Bills want him, are the Bills willing to pay what it takes to get him, and does he want to be in Buffalo. Answer all three yes and he's in Buffalo. Answer any one of those no and he's somewhere else.
  24. I don't know if we want the Bills to be known for beer and jumping on tables, but I love being known for the passion. Shady didn't have to write this piece. In his own way, I think he's a thoughtful guy and I think this whole experience has moved him. Remember when he first was traded, how he reacted to having to leave Philly. I was disappointed, but I felt for him, too. It was hard. For his first two years with the Bills, you could see his attitude changing. He was feeling it. But as he says, what it really took was the culture change in the locker room. We've thought what happened inside those doors had changed, but this is one of the first times we're hearing a player really talk about it. He's REALLY feeling it now. Bodes well for a lot of things. Free agents are hearing and seeing this. If the Bills are talking to a guy, especially a younger guy, and Shady McCoy calls him with this talk, that means something. It also means that when team activities begin in a couple of months, there's going to be a whole new attitude, from day 1. Everyone returning already gets it. When rookies come in, they're going to see, from day 1, what it takes to be part of this team. Hasn't felt this good to be a Bills fan in a long time. T You know, I didn't, either. But after watching him and listening to him, I've come to conclude several things about him: 1. Simply physically, he's a great running back. One of the best ever. 2. He has the heart of a great running back. He avoids tackles and goes down easily, but if you need three yards he gets you four, not two. 3. He shoots his mouth off a bit too much and says some things he shouldn't, but he isn't a jerk. Several times now, it's become clear that he understands what he said wrong and regrets it. This whole article has a little of the sound of an apology for not reacting more positively when he was traded. All you need to know about Shady is the image of him lying on the field, pounding the ground with his fist when he hurt his ankle in the Miami game. All you need to know about Shady is what he did to get himself back on the field the following week.
