  1. Even if we stood pat right now, we'd be better at receiver heading into '24 than we were last season.

What's cool about that is that we're not going to stand pat.  This has potential to be the best WR corps of JA's career to this point.

Would anyone trade straight up right now their top 4 for our top 4?

    Stefon Diggs

    Curtis Samuel

    Khalil Shakir

    Dalton Kincaid

    For

    Rashee Rice

    Marquise Brown

    Justin Watson

    Travis Kelce

Diggs when healthy is obviously way better than Rice.  And Rice doesn't even have the body of work to show that he can be consistent.

Personally, I'd rather have Samuel than Brown because of the more versatile skillset - but that one is about even.

Shakir is better than Watson, and I'm gonna bet a young Kincaid just about matches an aging Kelce in the next 1-2 years.  I certainly wouldn't trade the younger guy for Kelce at this point.

So, it's not even close. No way would I trade our group for theirs.  And we'll probably get a better guy in the draft also.

He’s getting 7M guaranteed and up to 11M with incentives. That’s very similar to 15M guaranteed for two years that Samuel got.

I disagree that Brown couldn’t get multi year offers. He mostly likely did get them like Samuel’s. He probably thinks he deserves more and is clearly betting on himself to do well with Mahomes to cash in the following season. KC is going to get a very motivated player for sure.

It's a shrewd calculation, imo.  If a younger receiver can play with a top QB, it's worth taking less money for awhile. It will pay off.

Brady made average guys wealthy, and other elite QB's have done the same.  Brown will put up huge stats w/ Mahomes and cash in next year.

Now do the year before that. Or don't cherry pick stats and do their whole careers. Chiefs got the better player for the better deal

We filled a need, and so did they. The differences are fairly negligible in the scheme of things.

This is extremely defeatist of me, but I am concerned they are not going to learn their lesson about WR and the first round WR may not be coming now.

    What's the lesson?

I still kind of hope we go WR in the 1st, but now it won't ruin me if they go w/ defense - which we also need, and probably more at this point. There will be very good receivers still available in round 2.

Exactly baseline WR2/complimentary piece to the WR room.

I mentioned earlier today in the Armstead thread, that Beane is likely targeting Samuel/MVS, then going DL in RD1.  Wr in RD2 (trade up to high 40s/#50, to get ahead of Steelers).

Will see if draft plays out like that.  But hoping we can get our starting FS before draft, and a backup DT.

I'm thinking this too.  The more I think about it - we have that capital to trade up in round 2, and now it feels like we can really beef up the D-line in round 1 & still get a good receiver w/ the 2nd pick, given how deep this class is.

  7. This gives them a little more flexibility to go BPA in the 1st.

Like others have said, I hope they still go WR in the 1st.  But if they don't have a 1st round grade on a guy in that spot, they can go defense, and maybe even trade up in the 2nd for someone they like there.

  8. We'll trade up in some rounds, or maybe trade for future picks - I can't see us staying put & drafting 11 players.  But I'd see something more along the lines of moving up a few spots in some of the early rounds if there is someone they really like.  I doubt we trade up into the top 10.

Judging right now by the 2024 Buffalo Bills choices of where they spend the little cap space and money they have the Buffalo Bills will be worse in 2024. And will struggle to get to a wildcard playoff berth. Things will have to go right on tie breakers when the Bills are back to in the hunt again. As a Bills fan I hope I am wrong but this team is going to have to really hit the jackpot on there draft picks to fill the holes the Bills secondary has in my opinion. Go Bills! Let’s Go Buffalo

It's not wrong to be cautious, but I haven't heard too many here say we'll struggle for a WC spot.

The AFC East simply isn't that good of a division.  Miami is our biggest competition, and they have lost as much as we have this offseason, if not more.  The Jets w/ Rodgers might be somewhat tough, but I don't see them taking the division.

As long as Allen stays healthy, I think the division title is more or less a given.

We’ll most importantly last years team was not as good. It took everything they had and a late season push to get in the playoffs. The finish was not awful but can’t ignore what the season looked like.

i had mixed thoughts on Kincaid just because we needed a WR more than TE. I was concerned they would not utilize him correctly and was right about that. He still has a promising future though.

No issues with Torrence again other than where is our WR.

My concern last year and again this year is not having weapons for Josh. We spend too many resources on our depth bottom of the roster guys rather than bringing in a couple impact players. They are doing it again with these two to $3 million signings rather than a six to $8 million guy. That could easily be paid for by letting a cam Lewis walk or many other vets that could play Hollins role for less than three mil.

We'll disagree on some of that, but you're not making unfair points.

I think I might have watched the Pats do it for too long without having top wideouts.  The only time they really invested was w/ Moss, and that didn't pan out.  Brady made middlin' guys good & great.  I think Allen can do that too - but the offense needs to be designed better.  When you watch KC, you can see how Reid schemes guys open.  I'm hoping we see that now that Brady can come in w/ his own offensive philosophy.

I also think Diggs will be more or less back this season.  With Kincaid, Shakir, Cook & a 1st rounder who hopefully pans out like a 1st rounder - that's a pretty solid set of weapons for the offense.

I get the Hollins signing.  We also need a ST ace now that Neal is gone.

Hollins is not good. Sherfield and Harty weren’t good either. And everyone talked about them like people are talking about Hollins now. And next year this time we’ll have cut Hollins because he sucked just as bad as his predecessors and here we will be, looking for actual talent at the position again.

I'm trying to see what the option is here.  It's not like we were signing Ridley for the contract he got today.

This is the nature of things now.  It's how it goes when you have to pay a top-tier QB.  Big acquisitions in FA will be few & far between.

Why would I make excuses for a win? Just pointing out that he had plenty to overcome in that game and had to be practically flawless.

As for January, sure, that missed kick hurt their chances. Never said otherwise. Although a kick in the mid-40s for a weak kicker is different than one of the league’s best missing two chip shots.

Most people think Mahomes is a better QB than Allen. You pick and choose when you want to listen to most people.

Why would there not be a case for Mahomes winning that game for Buffalo? He’d be facing a weaker defense that repeatedly blew coverage and left Diggs or Davis open by a mile. If you thought they picked on Klein, imagine what Mahomes and better receivers would have done to Sorenson, Niemann, and Hughes.

Ah, yes.   The KC defense just laid down for Allen.  Unlike what the Bills defense did for Mahomes this past January.  And it was quite a bit more than just "picking on Klein."  Half the Bills D was out or hurt.

I'm trying to imagine how much more spectacular Mahomes would have been than Allen if he was on the Bills for the 13 seconds game. I'm not able to muster much.  Allen was unreal that game.  If the Bills win that coin toss, NFL history is probably a bit different.

You've got 3 Super Bowls, and the consensus top QB in the league.  Some even say GOAT.  The Bills haven't won a thing.  Not sure why you need the vote of confidence for Mahomes from l'il ol' me.

I'm never going to wish the Bills had Mahomes instead of Allen.  Sorry 'bout that.

It’s like groundhogs day around here. Starters leave and they all sucked anyway so new guy xyz is better. I had countless deflates about how harry and sherfield were huge upgrades. How did that turn out? Our oc got fired and they are already gone. It took turning Allen into a battering ram to turn the o around. Now we are down one more wr and we are clearly better.

That's kind of cherrypicking w/ Sherfield & Harty.  Did you like the Kincaid & Torrence picks?  Did you like getting Floyd?  Did you think Bernard would become the player he is, or that he was a bust?

You seem to think there's nothing more that Allen could have done in that game, but Buffalo punted on about half their possessions (4 of 9). KC punted on 2 of 11. It's Mahomes that had to be nearly flawless, because his defense was blowing coverages constantly and leaving receivers open by a mile. Plus his kicker missed two easy kicks.

So, Mahomes gets the kicker excuse for that game, but JA doesn't get it for the game this past January. Got it.

Most people thought Allen played better than Mahomes that game. It was close & they both played great - but there really isn't a case for Mahomes winning that game for the Bills if he had been their QB.

The direction they are going makes sense and is a positive. There is no way they will be better than last season when they are relying on that many draft picks to fill holes.

I'm expecting a step back this season and possibly next.

That's fair. But I'm looking at a team that lost a coin flip kind of game to the eventual SB champs, and in that game were missing 2 stellar LB's that will be back, had one starting CB out (who will be back), and one clearly hampered by injury who will be back to full health.  I think Von will be a big contributor a year removed from the injury, and Jones is back to health.

I mean, if those guys had played, we might be talking about how we can repeat this year.  I get that we also have holes at safety & WR right now, but having so many picks in the upcoming draft feels like good timing when it's a deep WR class, and there are so many safeties on the market.

Something was off w/ Diggs, too.  We'll see if it was age, or an injury that they just didn't talk about too much.

All those day three picks should be fighting with Hollins, Morrow, Lewis, Rapp, etc for jobs.

So you lose Morse, Poyer, Hyde, White, Floyd, Davis and that equals better? Those guys must have sucked.

Why not list the guys coming back from injury, too?

Morse is a loss.  Poyer & Hyde were almost holding us back, imo - both lost a step, and we lost speed in the secondary as a result.  White hardly played for us, and Davis was wildly inconsistent.

I like the direction of younger & faster
