I'm grateful we have Beane. I think he has built quality depth throughout the line-up. Losing guys like Milano & Edmunds a few years back would have been hard to overcome, but Dodson & Klein (hope I'm spelling them right - didn't know they really existed before Sunday) came in and both played well, imo. That's something the Bills did really poorly during the drought. Usually during that time, when the starter went down, the next man up was a textbook JAG.

Bill Belichick's mother passed away

98 years is quite a life - and as a parent, it's hard to imagine anything more gratifying than being able to watch her son reach the pinnacle of his profession and accomplish what he has. R.I.P., and condolences to the GOAT coach. -

Bills Jets Game Re-Aired tonight at 7
Success replied to Scott7975's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice to have a game I actually want to rewatch. They've been re-showing the Houston playoff game, and the other night they had the Bills-Giants SB. I know some watch those; I've never been able to revisit those kinds of painful losses. -
That would be pretty rough. Love Gore, but obviously past his prime. I'm paraphrasing, but the announcer said something last week like "you can always count on him for 2 yards or so whenever he touches the ball," and he was trying to say it like it was praise...

This is a really dangerous game. Division opponent coming off a loss & desperate to avoid 0-2. And Flores is a good coach. If we get good Fitz, it will be a nailbiter. It completely goes without saying, but hopefully the team worked out the kinks on scoring/red zone opportunities last week. That game would have been maddening against a better team w/ all of the points we squandered with mistakes & miscues.

Steelers defense actually looks pretty good. Man, is our schedule tough.

I just exhaled.

I'll admit it: I was terrified Garropolo would take over for the Pats after Brady left. I thought they found another gem & he'd carry them to another decade of success. I'm still not quite ready to write him off, though. I thought he was pretty solid in the SB last year, though not great. Yesterday he looked pretty middlin'. But I noticed that America has become even more addicted to hot takes this season (Brady is washed! BB was clearly more responsible for their run!) So, I'll give this one more time to render any kind of verdict.

I prefer it, and I was glad they did it yesterday - but there was spirited discussion about it w/ the group I was watching the game with. But it's like pretty much anything in an NFL game. If the other team comes out like the Jets and goes 3 & out, it's a a great call. Had they driven for a TD, it would have been a terrible call.

Great quote about Allen by Stefon Diggs

Thanks for posting this - that is so cool to hear. Big smile right now. Diggs was a total baller today. He took some big hits and popped right back up...- 43 replies

The division already looks like Bills vs. Pats. I think this game will be a VERY early gauge in how we compare w/ the evil empire. Miami gave up a ton of rushing yards to them today. Their strength is really in the secondary - their line isn't that good. I'd love to see our running game break loose next week.

What a fun player. I was excited every time there was a punt. Best returner we've had in a long time - and it really makes a difference.

The only thing I'm worried about is his confidence. And he should have been 3 for 4. That was inexplicable. The push to the right is an easily fixable mechanical issue.

I was surprised by Darnold today. I've always been a believer. Granted, he doesn't have much in the way of a line or wideouts, but he was just bad. Really off target, and he looked rattled all game. It's funny to think back on that draft now. The Bills picking the "wrong Josh," Mayfield & Darnold getting all the hype, Jackson being an after-thought. Of the "Big 4" of Darnold, Mayfield, Allen & Rosen, Allen looks like the clear winner. I'd certainly rather have him than any of the other guys. And this is pure homer, but I'd rather have Allen than Jackson. I think when all is said & done, Allen will be more successful.

I'm a little vexed by Brady. Watching him & Cam today, I think the Pats are actually in better shape that he didn't stick around. I was pretty stoked when he decided to leave, but in a way, they would have been easier to beat this year WITH him, which seems impossible. But that pick 6 he floated out there today was unlike anything I have seen in almost 20 years of the Bills playing him. He simply didn't do that when he was in this division.

A Few Thought about the Jets game, in no particular order
Success replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent write-up! I love that football is back. And literally, it has been 2+ decades since I started the season feeling this much confidence. I usually talk myself into whatever team we have - but when I think back on Mularkey, and Jauron, and Gailey, and the Losman/Edwards debates, and going into Pats games knowing we had zero chance, and all the rest - it's an absolutely exhilarating feeling knowing we are BACK. And not with some scraped-together/win now type of team. This is a team with a fantastic core of young players on both sides of the ball, and excellent coaching - built for a long run of success. And a true franchise QB who wants to win. I feel like the long years of purgatory are over. The sun is rising in Buffalo. -

Knox is a little unsung today. I thought he looked great when he had the chances. -
Same. I felt 100% different about Brady as soon as he was a Buc. But still despise the Patriots.

It's a lot easier to fix than accuracy. And except for the bad miss to Brown, he was pretty on the money today. Some passes were a little off, but no comparison to Darnold. I think Allen has a really bright future. -
Anyone catch much of the Pats/Phins? I didn't see it, but saw Fitz had 3 picks, and the Pats won a relatively close one. I'd love to conclude that this means the Pats aren't all that, but have no idea.

That's true. I thought our line was doing great in pass protection, but the run blocking was really lacking.
