Think about this murderers parents that have to live every day knowing their son will never see the light of freedom and his life is potentially threatened every single day. So, should we not even send him to prison because of the trauma it will cause his family? I'm a father myself, if my son was in prison for life, I would be in pain the rest of my life. It would very painful to me knowing that he's living in an 8x8 cell for 23 hours a day and could be raped or killed at any time. So if prison does that to parents, maybe no one should go to jail?

The trauma that his family will face was caused by him. He committed a crime in a state that has the death penalty and he committed a crime at the level. This country has consequences for certain actions. They lived in a state in which has the death penalty. He chose to commit a death penalty level act. So he is responsible for the trauma that his family will face for him getting the death penalty. It's not more the merrier, this is justice.
