Dorian has churned up cooler water by sitting in one place for this amount of time so that helps with the slow fading of intensity.

I think you said it about as accurately as can be told... beautiful but deadly. The guys flying into and around that thing must have nuts the size of baseballs. I "think" its taken a slight wnw turn but will wait until the 11pm update to know for sure.

What is your plan if at all a plan? I can see folks in your area getting mesmerised by the forecast but I think a lot of bad ***** will still hit the eastern side of Fla. This is one nasty ***** to say the least, I don't recall seeing another one this perfectly designed like this killer is.

That first light blue "bead" over the state is where we live... majorly ***** things up here, mainly the trees. I have a 6' tall shard from a destroyed oak in my living room. Did get 6 grand from the insurance company on that one though as it took out the back patio and a couple of other things that to me were minor but whatever, sure. Anticipating the 5pm update on Dorian.

I looked at the latest loop and at the very end it looked like it was taking a slight WNW track... hope it wasn't just a wobble but the beginning of a real move. 5 o'clock update should be very telling.

I'm hoping the 2pm or the 5pm update shows some sort of trend other than due west. Your friends are really close to the left edge of the current forecast. They don't want to take a west coast trip across the state? Plenty of hotel rooms over this way.

You reminded me of something... back in the late 60's early 70's you could buy a half gallon of milk in a cardboard container. My Mom use to rinse them out, fill them with water, and then freeze them when went camping at Letchworth. Tore off the cardboard and you had a block of ice. Boca... please look at the first post of this thread, I have updated it to three specific models regarding the hurricane. For anyone involved the news is slightly better, the trend is a bit more to the east... let us just hope that no part of the USA is affected and just a choppy ocean is left to deal with it.

One thing that isn't mentioned much... if you find yourself in the path use your dishwasher. Important papers, jewelry, pictures, etc. Store what you can in there and then lock it... I'm tempted to put the ***** cat in there too. A prick cat from the first day.

Not quite so Ex... there is a high in the Atlantic but a Low just off of the the south end of Florida's coast. Basically a funnel. If you are talking about the high in the central plains area then I can see this, although it won't be a factor here in FL. What we need to happen is to have the high in the Atlantic weaken or move a little eastward.
