  1. Have you noticed that every defense FA signing & every D draft pick share this particular trait: they love to hit and they hit hard. How long has it been since the Bills had a D that was feared for that?
  2. I was watching as this happened. If you consider that this is the NFL's house PR network, where these guys put a positive spin on everything -"Yes he did murder his entire family but he's really turned it around in the last 6 months" - this was the most amazing & honest exchange in the whole draft.
  3. I am familiar with Alonso's play & his history & I believe he's going to be a great addition. I also think he's nuts. But if you think about the type of guys who are regarded as all-time great defensive players, aren't they all nuts, vicious, borderline psychos? Their pleasure in trying to hurt guys is what makes them great though maybe not such Honest John good citizens off the field. Alonso will hit you like you're a red-haired stepchild on a rented mule.
  4. TheBills already have a Tavon Austin-style receiver in Graham (& his return talent is covered by McKelvin). What the Bills need, & what Buddy wants, is a big boy receiver.
  5. In a draft made up of long shot mediocrities, Jones can't even make it into the top 5 discussion. 'Nuff said. Whaley's either lying or has lost his mind.
  6. Having only six picks probably rules out drafting a running back. But it doesn't eliminate the need to CYA. Here's hoping they get lucky with an UDFA like they did with Freddy.
  7. Naw, water bug types.
  8. What I was actually thinking about was the Bills RBs. With CJ's tendency to get "winded" and Freddy's inability to make it through the last couple of seasons, this position is looking a little thin, at least on the elite level. So I wouldn't be shocked if the Bills grabbed a running back in the 3rd. And, btw, if they do, and if he's available, I'd like to see them grab Johnathan Franklin out of UCLA. Anyone else feeling a little nervous about the RB position?
  9. Austin seems to be very similar to Graham, a smallish, speedy guy. What the Bills don't have is that big Michael Irvin type, which is precisely Buddy's dream receiver. I don't know if there's one in the draft with a "can't miss" tag on him, but if there is, that's the guy Buddy's got his eye on.
  10. Wow, you mean the Bills signed Skelton too?
  11. One of the best in any town, & the guy who went above & beyond to get "his" guys into the Hall. The last of his breed. Vaya con dios, Larry.
  12. The more I learn about the Marrone/Hackett offensive philosophy the more I'm becoming convinced they already have the best prospect to run it on the roster compared to the talent available in the draft. The key to Kolb succeeding is staying healthy so it would not surprise me if the Bills go Oline with the first pick & a QB in the 2nd, someone they can develop.
  13. One of the best mocks this year. Your analysis of each team is insightful and more to the point, accurate. One small quibble: the Bills might very well believe they've already "drafted" a better QB than any of the ones in the draft by signing Kolb. In that case, I think they might wait until the second round to pick one they can develop. If I'm right, then they might very well select Wilson, Bray or even Scott.
  14. Um, what would you call Kolb? A couple of years ago, he was the hot topic in lots of trade talk. If he can stay healthy, he might very well be the "franchise QB" everyone is hoping against hope might be found in this year's draft. The Bills certainly didn't sign him to be camp fodder. Because I think they believe Kolb is going to be great for them, it's my guess the FO will focus on a QB they can develop w/o the pressure to start immediately.
  15. Dansby would be a fantastic signing. And I think OBD will be doing more of these dribs and drabs additions over the coming weeks. BTW, if they do sign Dansby, I suspect it will have to be a front-loaded 4 year deal, 2 years guaranteed.
  16. A few months ago, a friend of mine was shot dead and dumped in a garbage can. Based on your response here, can I count on you to actively support draconian controls on firearms? After all, three times as many people in the US die from gunshots than from drunk drivers.
  17. Actually every team passed on Wilson. Twice.
  18. I believe there was a recent report that found "distracted driving" to be a bigger cause of vehicle accidents than drinking, things like using the phone, messing with the radio and GPS, eating and drinking, loose pets, etc. Because we are a deeply Calvinist culture, we are more punitive towatds things that are "pleasureable" and more forgiving about things that are associated with work. Hence nobody from the greatest criminal theft in the history of the world has been indicted for the WallStreet meltdown while our prisons are packed with people who service our very normal desre to get a buzz from time to time. No surprise though from a country where "hard working" is considered something to be proud of. Or "I haven't taken a vacation in 10 years" is somehow a sign of moral superiority. Impairment should be the basis for getting a ticket not alcohol use.
  19. Yeah, I know what you mean about those Cali QBs which is exactly why I'd never waste a roster spot on Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Colin Kaepernick or Jack Kemp Or Darryl Lamonica or Jim Plunkett or John Elway or...well, no sense going on. Just know I support you in opposing any Cali QBs for Buffalo.
  20. I don't believe being an English major is a requirement for spelling, grammar, punctuation or being able to communicate in a coherent manner. These things used to be considered everyday normal even for those who dropped out of school. And being "urban" is no excuse.
  21. Of all the areas where this team really needs help bigtime, Oline is not at the top of the list. I agree it would be great to add one of those guys, but because of the holes in the roster, they can't afford "luxury" picks. The irony is that a succesful team like the Niners, with 13 picks CAN do exactly that while the Bills, with a puny 6 have to severely limit themselves. "The rich get richer..."
