  1. You still really aren't figuring all this out yet, are you? You and xRushx and TeddyKGB and jmc and Crusher (wherever he may be) and your ilk can go celebrate New Years Eve in a hotel room sulking and burning Tyrod Taylor's jersey knowing he'll be etched forever in Buffalo lore and that his name just won't go away like you so desperately want it to. Tyrod Taylor is the first QB to lead the Bills to the playoffs since 1999. And he is a big reason for this playoff berth. It happened. Get over it.
  2. Dude go away or give him credit for once! This team was a crap show from the beginning of the year that most picked to win less than 6 games. Unbelievably we've downgraded our WR corps from 2016 and our OL has been a revolving door both literally and in terms of rotation. Taylor is better than you thought he was and, truthfully, you're in denial if you think there isn't a really good chance he'll be back in 2018 as a bridge to whoever we draft.
  3. Mainly people are just stupid and stubborn and would rather be right and miserable while saying "I told you so!" than be wrong and happy and say "I was wrong." It's one of those "win the Internet" things, for some. Most rational people are probably finally accepting that, in fact, this is not an either/or thing with Taylor... we can keep him for the one year he he has left on his contract while also drafting our future Franchise QB.
  4. Yes, he is. We will look to upgrade on him, which is fine and what we should do. But Taylor might be around another year as we make a (possibly even more...?) legitimate run at a ring All the posters who said we'd never make the playoffs with Tyrod as our QB (you know who you are... there are a good handful of you ) should just come here and eat crow! After all, we're all super stoked we're in the playoffs!
  5. Oh hohohoho BABY!!! WOHOO!!!! Playoffs babyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!
  6. I really hope the FO doesn't do something stupid like cutting Shady this offseason. He's such a special player
  7. Some of you, I think, or putting too much into this meant touring thing with veteran QBs versus Rockies. If we get Donald and he's on the bench he will learn from the coaches and in the film room. One thing he can observe from Tyrod and take from him is his Monday to Saturday preparation. Favre didn't "mentor" Rodgers. They didn't even like each other by most reports. If Darnold is the kid he's reported to be, he's going to learn what to do and what not to do while sitting and observing. And if we get him and we just decide to start in from game one and take our lumps, I'm fine with that, too. Regardless of all this, I know VERY little about college football, but the little I know the only 3 QBs I want at this moment are Mayfield, Darnold, Rudolph... in that order. And I'll repeat, I'm largely unaware of college football.
  8. Again... so our hope could then be he comes out, falls, maybe we still trade up but not as far as top 5, and maybe we let him sit on the bench for just a little while while he who shall not be named (by some ) starts for a bit while he grows a little. Yeah, maybe he's still a bit raw. But a lot of what I've read and heard say he has the potential to be a generational QB.
  9. Sweet!!! Maybe he falls to us! amiright?!

  11. Seriously? An apples to apples comparison with a guy who started just over half the games that Taylor has started in the last three years? First of all, both of these guys have about 237-238 yards per game total they're putting up. But yards are NOT the most important STAT!!! 3 years for McCown, 41 TDs, 33 turnovers. 3 years for Taylor, 64 TDs, 21 turnovers. 'nuff said buuuuut... there is also the fact that in significantly fewer games than Taylor over the last 3 years, McCown has lost 527 yards on sacks to Taylor's 653 yards. annnnnnd... in the last 3 years Taylor has more 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives than McCown. alsoooooo... since I know of a poster or two who view ANY/A as the most important stat, Taylor has a higher average there than McCown over the last 3 years, too. McCown is not better than Taylor
  12. Trade would be nice. I'm more skeptical we just release him. Didn't Rappaport say exactly this exactly a year ago?
  13. This is 100% what I'm rooting for! Maybe we can get Luck But can someone explain to me why I shouldn't like Rudolph?
  14. From the little I know, Darnold or Mayfield.
  15. I think the Bengals are more likely to beat the Ravens than those other scenarios.
  16. Who cares? Shady is the absolute best player on our offense by far, Clay is the 2nd best and our WR corps is one of the worst in the NFL for the 2nd year in a row. That is why Shady is #1 in targets and Clay is #2. Get the ball in the hands of your best players and that's what we're doing. What the heck is your problem with that? Taylor is not the eighth best QB in the NFL and he's not the 11th or the 14th. But he sure as hell is not the 30-35th, either. Everyone, I would say absolutely everyone wants to upgrade on Taylor this off-season. So what is your problem?
  17. He asked a question and I answered. No, ALEX is not like QBR because it's just averaging passes on third down and where they are thrown. As you can see, on average Taylor throws the ball past the first down marker on third down. We can talk about Taylor's deficiencies as long as we aren't making them up along the way. Taylor is 41.5% converting 3rd downs while passing, which is 11th out of 36 QBs and includes sacks. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=098&type=Passing&year=2017
  18. This is a stat Footballoutsiders calls ALEX and you can find where all QBs rank here: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb here's their description of ALEX: ALEX represents Air Less EXpected on third downs, the average difference between the length of the quarterback's throw and the distance needed for a new set of downs. The number listed here only includes third downs and is not adjusted for passes thrown away or batted down. Taylor ranks 18th out of 35 QBs. Here's a list of just some of the QBs Taylor has a higher ALEX than, or QBs who throw to or past the sticks less than Taylor: Drew Brees Phillip Rivers Case Keenum Jared Goff Alex Smith Matt Ryan Kirk Cousins among others. I hope that was helpful. After all, you did ask for it
  19. No. Sorry. If we're talking tiebreakers, the Chargers loss was a head to head loss against a playoff team and automatically makes us lose the tiebreaker to them if we're in a 1 on 1 tie with them, no matter what because that's the very first tiebreaker. that mattered most. If the Ravens lose this week and we're tied with them we have the tiebreaker.
  20. It's just funny how some here are legitimately saying Taylor's the 30-35th best QB in the NFL. I want to upgrade, but Taylor's been a welcome surprise in his time in Buffalo.
  21. Did this just turn political??? Sounds like a great opportunity for mods to move the thread
  22. You're being evasive. I accounted for pass attempts, rushes AND sacks for Taylor in terms of offensive snaps, total yards, total 1st downs and total TDs in terms of percentages of those on the team. Did you do the same for all NFL QBs? Are Goff or Prescott or Cutler or Matt Ryan or whoever above or below 54%, 61%, 58%, and 65% of their respective teams total snaps, yards, 1st downs and TDs? Curious where Taylor ranks in that percentage once you piece it together. And also, there was the entire game Taylor missed... yet he's still accounted for those percentages of total team snaps/yards/1st downs/TDs on the year.
  23. Hey Thurm, you complain about this all of the time so how about some links? Those links would be especially helpful to figure out what your stats actually include and do not include. My stats were very simple and taken directly from NFL.com and Teamrankings.com. You say yourself right here "Goff must have run a play or two, as did a few other QBs." A player or two, huh? Yeah, 10 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 50 times or more. 19 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 30 times or more. 33 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 16 times or more. Meaning that at least 33 ran the ball at least one play. http://pickingpros.com/nfl/quarterback-rushing-leaders.php Did whatever numbers you included a count for sacks, as well? I have no idea, because I don't have your link.
  24. He wasn't wrong. I think you just need to explain yourself a little bit better. Re McCown: No, it's not the same thing. It's not the same thing because (and this is going to upset some of you) McCown is not as good or as consistentor as consistent a QB as Taylor.
  25. I'm curious, but when has an NFL starter for one team for 3 consecutive years who's under 30 ever been cut without a viable replacement on the roster or in return? You say this kind of thing happens all the time so I expect finding something like this will be easy And again, just so that you don't get confused, I am not saying that Taylor will absolutely be here next year. However, I do think 0BD is going to have a very clear plan regarding the QB position if and when they do get rid of Taylor. And it's going to be a plan that's pretty solid. Where we are currently drafting, we can't say that we have any solid shot at any particular QB. So, unless OBD decides and manages to trade up into the top five for a draft pick before Taylor's bonus is due, I think there is a strong likelihood that he is still on the roster all the way up through the draft and maybe beyond.
