  1. This is 100% what I'm rooting for! Maybe we can get Luck But can someone explain to me why I shouldn't like Rudolph?
  2. From the little I know, Darnold or Mayfield.
  3. I think the Bengals are more likely to beat the Ravens than those other scenarios.
  4. Who cares? Shady is the absolute best player on our offense by far, Clay is the 2nd best and our WR corps is one of the worst in the NFL for the 2nd year in a row. That is why Shady is #1 in targets and Clay is #2. Get the ball in the hands of your best players and that's what we're doing. What the heck is your problem with that? Taylor is not the eighth best QB in the NFL and he's not the 11th or the 14th. But he sure as hell is not the 30-35th, either. Everyone, I would say absolutely everyone wants to upgrade on Taylor this off-season. So what is your problem?
  5. He asked a question and I answered. No, ALEX is not like QBR because it's just averaging passes on third down and where they are thrown. As you can see, on average Taylor throws the ball past the first down marker on third down. We can talk about Taylor's deficiencies as long as we aren't making them up along the way. Taylor is 41.5% converting 3rd downs while passing, which is 11th out of 36 QBs and includes sacks. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&rank=098&type=Passing&year=2017
  6. This is a stat Footballoutsiders calls ALEX and you can find where all QBs rank here: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/qb here's their description of ALEX: ALEX represents Air Less EXpected on third downs, the average difference between the length of the quarterback's throw and the distance needed for a new set of downs. The number listed here only includes third downs and is not adjusted for passes thrown away or batted down. Taylor ranks 18th out of 35 QBs. Here's a list of just some of the QBs Taylor has a higher ALEX than, or QBs who throw to or past the sticks less than Taylor: Drew Brees Phillip Rivers Case Keenum Jared Goff Alex Smith Matt Ryan Kirk Cousins among others. I hope that was helpful. After all, you did ask for it
  7. No. Sorry. If we're talking tiebreakers, the Chargers loss was a head to head loss against a playoff team and automatically makes us lose the tiebreaker to them if we're in a 1 on 1 tie with them, no matter what because that's the very first tiebreaker. that mattered most. If the Ravens lose this week and we're tied with them we have the tiebreaker.
  8. It's just funny how some here are legitimately saying Taylor's the 30-35th best QB in the NFL. I want to upgrade, but Taylor's been a welcome surprise in his time in Buffalo.
  9. Did this just turn political??? Sounds like a great opportunity for mods to move the thread
  10. You're being evasive. I accounted for pass attempts, rushes AND sacks for Taylor in terms of offensive snaps, total yards, total 1st downs and total TDs in terms of percentages of those on the team. Did you do the same for all NFL QBs? Are Goff or Prescott or Cutler or Matt Ryan or whoever above or below 54%, 61%, 58%, and 65% of their respective teams total snaps, yards, 1st downs and TDs? Curious where Taylor ranks in that percentage once you piece it together. And also, there was the entire game Taylor missed... yet he's still accounted for those percentages of total team snaps/yards/1st downs/TDs on the year.
  11. Hey Thurm, you complain about this all of the time so how about some links? Those links would be especially helpful to figure out what your stats actually include and do not include. My stats were very simple and taken directly from NFL.com and Teamrankings.com. You say yourself right here "Goff must have run a play or two, as did a few other QBs." A player or two, huh? Yeah, 10 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 50 times or more. 19 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 30 times or more. 33 QBs in the NFL ran the ball 16 times or more. Meaning that at least 33 ran the ball at least one play. http://pickingpros.com/nfl/quarterback-rushing-leaders.php Did whatever numbers you included a count for sacks, as well? I have no idea, because I don't have your link.
  12. He wasn't wrong. I think you just need to explain yourself a little bit better. Re McCown: No, it's not the same thing. It's not the same thing because (and this is going to upset some of you) McCown is not as good or as consistentor as consistent a QB as Taylor.
  13. I'm curious, but when has an NFL starter for one team for 3 consecutive years who's under 30 ever been cut without a viable replacement on the roster or in return? You say this kind of thing happens all the time so I expect finding something like this will be easy And again, just so that you don't get confused, I am not saying that Taylor will absolutely be here next year. However, I do think 0BD is going to have a very clear plan regarding the QB position if and when they do get rid of Taylor. And it's going to be a plan that's pretty solid. Where we are currently drafting, we can't say that we have any solid shot at any particular QB. So, unless OBD decides and manages to trade up into the top five for a draft pick before Taylor's bonus is due, I think there is a strong likelihood that he is still on the roster all the way up through the draft and maybe beyond.
  14. This kind of hypothetical is really stupid. Really stupid
  15. Why do you insist on drawing these lines in the sand? I potentially want Taylor here and potentially to start. Do you know who our QB is going to be? I don't. I'll tell you this, the more I hear about this Josh Allen kid, the more it scares me because he really just sounds like EJ 2.0. If he is, we probably will and should do what we did not do with EJ, even though that seemed to be the plan if not for a fall on a mat. If we trade up in the draft for a QB, I expect that shiny new rookie to start day one. Another factor in this is that 0BD does not know what's going to unfold in the draft. If they plan on drafting a rocky, I think it makes it that much more likely that Taylor is still in a bills uniform simply because he has to be cut by the fourth day of the new lead year or if he is owed a bonus which we will not get back. If the plan is to go out and get a bet QB like Cousins, obviously Taylor would be cut or traded at best somehow. What I think is likely to happen is that Taylor remains on the roster all the way up until the draft and then 0BD uses him as part of a draft package to try to trade up for Darnold/Rosen/Mayfield. From the little I know, if it's any of those three QBs, I 100% would love to start him on day one, even though Darnold sounds like he might need some time to learn. But if it's a guy like Allen or Jackson (and again, I really don't watch college football so I'm just throwing names out based on what I have heard and a little I have seen), then I'm going to guess they're going to need some time on the bench to learn, in which case I think there's a really good chance Taylor will still be here taking snaps and Week 1.
  16. Baker Mayfield is the guy I'm really starting to want badly. Alas, I don't know if he's a McBeane type of guy
  17. Bengals. I think they have a good shot. Division game. Marvin Lewis's last game against the team he made his name with. Win one for the gipper!
  18. What??? Against it? Why are you assuming I'm against it?
  19. Literally never watched Allen play but he sounds like EJ 2.0. Too much "potential," not enough production. Mayfield has been uber successful in college and is a serious competitor. If the coaches can channel that he sounds like a Buffalo guy to me. Out of all the prospects, Rosen sounds the least like a Buffalo guy. Not that I watch college ball
  20. He actually used the words "Taylor was Elite" in that instance or was it more like "his numbers were borderline elite with those guys," because there's a difference.
  21. Bwahahahahaha!!!! Unreal the way some people isolate everything else that the other 52 men on the roster and the coaches do well from all their shortcomings for the purpose of isolating all of Tyrod Taylor's shortcomings from everything he does well.
  22. Yes, people are stupid. Before the season I posted basically a "why not us?" playoff thread and I got plenty "have you seen the roster?!?!" responses. I think people just feel like it's a requirement to overreact on the Internet since it's such an anonymous form of speech. Lots of paper tigers who crawl into holes when they're clearly wrong. I want a Franchise QB found in the offseason. If it's a vet like Kirk Cousins, which would not be my choice, then no, of course I don't want him back. But if it is a drafted rookie, we are going to need three QBs on this roster. And depending on who that rookie is and where we acquire him, we are probably going to need a QB who starts in game one, and that might be Taylor, who is under a contract that expires at the end of next year. Who argues Taylor's Elite??? Do you? A spectacular post
  23. Well what you're arguing doesn't matter, does it? We already know we're going to replace Taylor. Yet, as it is... Despite missing what translates to a full NFL game, he's still responsible for 54% of the offensive snaps, 61% of the offense's total yards, 58% of the offense's total 1st downs...and 65% of the offensive TDs. We have the 8th worst defense by yards, 3rd worst run defense, and we're 18th in points given up per game. Yes we have an opportunistic defense, but even there we're tied for 8th in takeaways. Yet somehow, despite a 5 interception half by Not Ready Nate, we're still 6th in our turnover differential and go into week 17 with a legitimate shot at the playoffs for the first time in 12-13 years. Yeah, sorry to inform you, but Tyrod Taylor has been an important part to this team getting to this point this year. Maybe you weirdos will get your wish and this next game will be the very last game that you have to root for him. Or maybe, just maybe we make it into the playoffs for the first time this millennium and you have to keep rooting for Taylor and give him just a little bit of credit. Like I said, we can start searching for our new QB as soon as the season is done, but it's not
  24. I can't believe you guys care about arguing this at this point. Is there a single poster who thinks we aren't inevitably hunting for a future Franchise QB this offseason? If this year isn't Tyrod's last year in Buffalo, next year will be. The OP is just massively over compensating here, though. Tyrod is not bad, unless your definition of "bad" is a QB who can fall anywhere in the 15-25 range as an NFL starter depending on the situation but is simply not a top 10 Franchise QB. If that's what that Big Dingus means by "bad," then sure. But what's the point? Upset that we're sniffing the playoffs with Taylor at the helm when half of you who are currently piling it on are on record that we would NEVER make the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor as our QB? Does it really upset that we're this close to the playoffs and that part of that actually is because of Tyrod Taylor's play, despite all these preemptive efforts by the OP to argue otherwise and how adamantly some of you are trying to deny that simple fact? Don't worry guys, if we make the playoffs, Taylor can get some credit for being the first Bills QB to lead the team to the playoffs since 1999 AND we can still eagerly and thoroughly discuss who we'll draft or acquire this offseason as our future Franchise QB to replace him will be
