Pa. removes 200 deaths from state coronavirus count as questions mount about reporting process, accuracy Pennsylvania has corrected its coronavirus data multiple times over the past week to account for irregularities, according to new reports. Earlier this week, Pennsylvania started to include “probable deaths” in its fatalities. As a result, the total number of coronavirus deaths grew by 276, then 360, in successive nights, almost doubling the number of deaths in the state in two days. The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) subsequently removed 200 deaths from its count after facing mounting questions about the accuracy of the count. </snip> “There’s a discrepancy in the numbers,” Charles E. Kiessling Jr., president of the Pennsylvania Coroners Association and coroner in Lycoming County, told the Inquirer. “I’m not saying there’s something going on... I’m not a conspiracy theory guy. But accuracy is important.” “This is why I’m so upset,” Kiessling added. “Our job is to investigate... We do this every day.” Kiessling said it was a matter of public safety that the DOH clarify the discrepancy. Coroners have complained over the past month regarding discrepancies in the death figures. </snip>

Pence: Indiana opened half their elective surgery sites, and the rest next week. Maryland is getting more testing. Utah, contact tracing. "healthy together app" NJ + Rutgers for a saliva based test. Missouri working with google marketplace to repurpose factories to meet their medical supply needs. WOW. Trump done. -

Pence: Cuomo spoke favorably about his White House meeting. State level testing. Cuomo explained how he's using his licensing in NY for more labs (something...) MA cases have not yet stabilized. There are now 4 firld hospitals there. Minnesota has a Mayo clinic partnership. Pence is going to the Mayo clinic on Tuesday. Iowa is tripling testing. testiowa.com To figure out if their symptoms warrant a test. -

Pence: Governor conference call today. Expanded testing, and pleased to hear about the progress the Governors are making. FEMA reported on numbers (not much different than before) One team, one mission. We are all in this together. Going on with mitigation, testing, etc. Use the existing testing capacity available to them. 5.1M Americans have been tested for COVID-19. As testing increases, case will increase as well. Do not be discourage by the numbers, there are very positive numbers in the hospitals, etc. -

Press (Weijia Jiang): Subcommittee FDA does not have any review or test for antibodies. Are these junk tests? Hahn: We provided them with the ability to self-validate. There are four authorized by the FDA, but the self-validated they are working with the CDC to validate those self-validated tests. -

Dr Hahn (FDA): Team of more than 10K scientists, pharmacists, nurses, working around the clock authorizing tests and products. (18K people work there) Barriers have been cut down recognizing the urgency of the situation. They are still testing. How far they have come in just the last few months. This normally takes years to developed, and this has happened in weeks and months. Authorized 63 tests (diagnostic and antibody) Point of care tests. LabCorp - first home test. The test can be done at home (under the guidance of a physician) Working with 400 developers. 220 labs have begun patient testing. Leaving no stone un-turned. 72 therapeutics are under trials. -

Trump: Happy talk about what he hopes for the economy once we reopen. Talking about the paycheck protection program. Mentioned how poorly hospitals are doing (the elective surgeries, in areas that have not been largely impacted) CARES act $3,304 (I think, I hope I did not transpose numbers) average sent to each family. How they are getting it... check, direct deposit, or debit card. -
